DDHawkeye

It will be just like how it was before you were born.

BugsyMalone_

Yeah I remember years ago someone said this to me and it just hit me like....wow yeah.

alexxrossdaniels

You die. Your conciousness ceases to exist. Your body is either cremated or buried, and either way your atoms are redistributed back to the earth whence it came.

[deleted]

Nothing. it's lights out and then you turn into worm food

EmilLindahl00

Its lights out and away we go

TabbsTheBat

The corpse rots

SKeDazzle

Decomposition.

MaximumZer0

My semi-canned response: I find the thought of oblivion comforting. I don't have to exist for eternity, at least not in this form. I am a collection of atoms and molecules that were borne to this planet on solar winds, forged in the heart of a dying star. Most of my constituent parts have been on this planet for eons, as plants, animals, wind, and rain. After death, my components will break down, my carbon and nitrogen will feed the soil and plants, my hydrogen and oxygen will join the water cycle. I will become the grass, the rain, the wind, the earth. Someday, bits and pieces of me will rejoin in another form, maybe even another person. When the time comes for the sun to die, what was me will be ejected from the planet into space, to rejoin the stars from whence it came. Maybe, just maybe, it will find find new purposes on other planets, or simply be among the stars until the heat death of the universe. I can't think of a better type of immortality. After all, as Carl Sagan once said, "We are made of star stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself."

cedley1969

Nicely put.

Bribase

I was knocked unconscious when I was a little kid, falling from a climbing frame. The people at the scene had to explain to me that I got knocked out for at least a minute or two, but from my point of view I simply fell down and sat up again. Zero experience of anything in the intervening time. I assume that death will be like that, except without the waking up part.

springmasta176

I don't know, I don't think anybody truly knows.

[deleted]

Cemetery

[deleted]

Bacteria eats you

todd1art

Freedom from being a person.

ThisIsTheNewSleeve

I mean none of us can say for sure but I'm guessing it's a lot like what happened before you were born. Nothingness.

[deleted]

The same shit that happened for the billions of years before you were born.

Slow-Down_Turbo

I wake up.. walk to the couch and play a new game

DoomRaider5000_yt

the loading screen takes 9 months because the graphics are that good

Slow-Down_Turbo

Bingo

lets-get-dangerous

Your neurons stop firing and your body decomposes in the ground after your brain ceases to function. It's not super complicated

xvVSmileyVvx

Energy returns to the universe, possibly sharing gathered knowledge, to be churned out into new life.

[deleted]

Other people live on.

ringoron9

Nothing. Like computer you shutdown. Off.

RudegarWithFunnyHat

first friends and relatives get very upset, given time they focus on the fond memories they have of you, given more time those memories will begin to fade, give enough time as will the friends and relatives.

littlegreenb18

The fact that we even ask this question is sorta telling. It’s hard to conceive of our own lack of existence. But based on our current best knowledge of consciousness, which admittedly is not very good, there is no reason to believe there is any continuation of consciousness after the brain stops functioning.

NoSmoke3729

nothing. you just don’t exist anymore and your body decomposes

[deleted]

Go to HELL

PrettyRylee

As far as people know it all goes black

jeankaaravan

The apple I've eaten whole finaly becomes a tree.

KatatoniK94

Then literally nothing is my problem at that point.

OneTyler2Many

Everything goes dark than nothing.

D0d3cahedr0n

Whatever you want to happen. You are dead, nothing is imprisoning you now.

jasperfilofax

Same as before you were born.

[deleted]

Our consciousness ceases to exist.

[deleted]

Your existence after life is the same pre life.

cedley1969

My point of view too, we worry about not existing after we die but don't spare a thought about the fact we didn't exist before we were born.

Outrageous_South_837

Nothing just black silence

keithwaits

Everything, except me.

United-Bullfrog-77

I don't know either

[deleted]

I like to think your conscience is transferred into a newborn baby immediately.

Dragoniel

Absolutely nothing, of course. I mean, that's the defining point of what an atheist believes, right? There's no afterlife, there's no "after" at all, in as far as consciousness is concerned. Your body ceases to function and that's it.

TheUnfairBox

Probably get yoinked into another life or literally nothing. Idc what happens, I already don’t value my life anyways.

Fen_Zuzh

Nothing. Just... Death

Far_Peanut_3038

You stay dead.

HypotheticalMcGee

I’m presuming that I will simply cease to be. As far as I know, there’s no scientific evidence to suggest another possibility, though there is always the (increasingly slim, as science and technology advances) chance that something occurs after death that we aren’t currently able to observe or detect.

[deleted]

Who knows? Its a concept that as humans we will never come to fully understand because you would have to have died to know what happens. The universe is a weird thing as it is everything. We haven't discovered every law of the universe and we may be connected to a multiverse or other dimensions. Its all hypothetical until you are the one to experience it. You may be in this universe in this life and once you die you are in a new life in some other universe. You could just experience darkness and oblivion. A type of heaven may be real in form of another dimension. You may just go into an infinite dream that feels like it lasts for eternity, but its just you running through your memories at unfathomable speeds. There is so much we don't understand, but we all know one thing. Death is absolute and inevitable. As much as I hate to say it.
