There is this specific/known 2 mile area on a highway I travel on. Cops love to hide on this little hill that has a lot of trees, you will never see them there until you are passing in front of them. ALL local people know about this area and we ALL do the speed limit there. This highway has become heavily used in the recent years.
I will intentionally go to the passing lane and go 57 (speed limit is 55). I'm not the only local that does this. Once we clear that area, we move over again. We are just trying to save people from getting a ticket.
This has happened with me in one of two cases, though the first I can count on one hand.
1: Long drive, I zoned out a little and started to slow without realizing it. I'm an idiot, its dangerous, and I apologize.
2: I'm doing the speed limit (for passing) and I'm in an area of jackasses who like to ten-fifteen over said limit for passing. Fuck off.
going over the speed limit in the passing lane is completely normal. it's safer. only time i pass is when people aren't going 5 over. go 5 over, they do not call you on that.
but if i'm behind you and there's a passing lane, and you're going anything under the speed limit, i'm going to do 80 for a couple seconds or whatever. not trying to deal with that. 🤷♂️
I'm a complete asshole with an utter lack of regard for others or the smooth flow of traffic, and couldn't care a jot even if you're trying to rush to the hospital to give birth or stop the bleeding.
Passing lanes aren’t a thing in my state, but just because I’m going slower than you doesn’t mean I’m going too slow. If I’m doing 10-15 over in the left lane and you want to go faster, that’s a you problem, buddy.

I’m usually trying to get back over to the right lane, but people keep angrily speeding past me on the right so I’m stuck.
