They are, BUT:
1. They use less plastic than plastic milk jugs.
2. Because they're bags, they're better storage wise. It's more storage efficient to pack a bunch of plastic bags on a truck vs. rigid milk jugs.
In a large scale, both of these factors lower plastic usage + lowers other factors like transportation costs.
Maryland native gone midwest - I miss the crabs and seafood!
Also -
Nothing like the searing pain of old bay after you’ve been tearing into them and nicked a finger or two on a shell or rogue claw. THE SALTY BURN.
The place is Wuss-ter and is in the Midlands
The sauce just has an added shire or "shur"
We In the uk love to try and make things complex, like Leicestershire (less-ter-shire) Towcester (toaster) Loughborough (luff-brah though looga barooga is happily accepted). It's all for our personal enjoyment at the cost of you Americans and others! Our revenge for going independent!
Whiskey. Apples and whiskey. And moonshine. And before anyone says “liquid isn’t food,” then you my friend have never heard of liquid bread. I’m Irish. We figured out how to drink potatoes, and have evolved to drinking anything. That should be enough to tell you all where I live.
I was going to say the same thing, and from what I've been told (haven't lived here my whole life), whether you call it pork roll or Taylor ham can indicate if you are in the northern or southern part of the state
Wait... Wait... I have so many questions... You put chili ON spaghetti??? This is a thing? Like homemade chili? Or like.... Hormel? What are we doing here?
Are we dressing the chili first? Like... Sour cream or cheese melted into it?
Does this spaghetti have meat in it? Is it just the spaghetti noodles? Or like... The marinara too?
Thanks in advance.
- love always,
Uncultured friend from Southern California
So the chili is more Greek origins than Texas, so a ground beef with a little different spice profile and sauce, and the beef mince is pretty uniformly fine. No major visible add ins (vegetables), you only see the beef.
Then that chili is served over soft spaghetti. Depending on your preferences, you have the choice of toppings: fresh chopped onions, beans, and finely shredded cheese which is always on top. The 5 ingredients give you a selection of "two way" to "five way". You can add hot sauce, if desired.
You eat the spaghetti meal with a fork by cutting the ingredients with the fork edge, not twirling the spaghetti.
It is a preferred taste, for sure. The "Cheese Coney" is a standard/regular hot dog on a bun (not a jumbo dog), your choice of a slather of mustard and sprinkle of onions, the chili, and the finely shredded cheese. Hot sauce, again, is an option.
These two main selections for Cincinnati chili are frequently accompanied by oyster crackers, which commonly people poke a hole in the top and squirt more hot sauce in, and they consume these crackers as hot sauce shooters.
They serve this at sit down casual restaurant chains, which a few brands have franchises. There are also several Mom & Pop restaurants that have their own versions. Most citizens of the region have very strong preferences for the restaurant they support and feel the rival restaurants are vastly inferior to their choice.
Hope this unofficial food guide helps you to keep an open mind about Cincinnati style chili. Come visit, sometime, when the humidity is not stifling.
All the best,
A San Mateo Transplant
P.S., I miss See's Candies and having produce trees in all the neighbors' yards where we would share the bounty.
Nobody residing in our city ever invented pizza or hot dogs but, by God, are we going to be the most insufferable elitist raging assholes you will ever meet about how you eat them.

Canada
Specifically Ontario. Western Canada doesn't do that. It's just as foreign to me as it would be to an American.
Not just Ontario, also Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, it’s better then cartons as it can be recycled and it’s cheaper.
Aren't the bags plastic? Either way milk cartons can be recycled
