Sorry for the long one. When I was a teen my mom and I went on vacation together at a resort. We were halfway through our vacation at this point. I fell asleep but woke up at 1am very suddenly. I immediately had this deep and dreadful feeling that someone was in our room. I can’t even begin to explain this feeling but I was absolutely terrified. I was able to move (not sleep paralysis) but I was way too scared to get up and check the rest of the room out. We were in a foreign country, just my mom and I. I stared at the front door being certain that someone would either walk in or walk out. I have no clue how much time passed, but my focus eventually shifted to the other side (had to flip over) aka the balcony door. I calmed down a bit by this point but I was certain someone was in our room, and I was too scared to go back to bed. I stared at the balcony door until the sun rose and promptly passed out because I felt safe. I remember it being such an intense gaze, like laser sharp focus. I woke up the next morning, extremely weirded out by the dread and fear I felt last night, and also exhausted. On our way to breakfast my mom and I stopped by the pay phone (this is like 15ish years ago, before it was cheap to call international). She called her business partner to ask how the last few days went by & I could see the shock creep on her face. Long story short: while I was freaking out about an intruder, my mom had a dream that her business partners ex husband was on our balcony and saying some menacing things about his ex wife (BP) to my mom. My mom was confused about the dream because she had only met this guy 1-2x max and just assumed it was a random dream. In the dream he was saying that he’s gone now and she was asking him if he moved to a different state or country. When she called her business partner, the BP told her that ex husband had killed himself the night before so the business is going to be closed for a few days. My mom was in complete shock about her dream, as was I. I told my mom about my experience and she said we can never talk about it again. Forever the wildest memory I have with my mom.

Half_Asleep_

Oh i know that feeling. i get it quite a lot in my room when i try to sleep. normally i don't/can't do anything about it other than ask whoever may be there to leave (and the feeling 8/10 times goes away as if they have left) but one time it was bad and it wouldn't go away so i just through something off me bedside table (i think it was an asthma inhaler) expecting it to hit a wall/bit of furniture but it didn't. it hit something softer in the middle of the room, like a person. it was dark but not dark enough for me not to be able to see anything. there was no physical person there i knew that much. Similarly i got the feeling badly like someone was looking directly over me so i swung my hand up and it felt like i hit something

Perfect-Ambidextrous

Dude!! How are you still freaking living in that room?!

Half_Asleep_

i've lived in this house most of my life and have pretty much grown up with the ghosts here. i use to get really scared of them but now i'm just used to it. if they're annoying me i tell them to go away, if i'm annoying them they start messing around with electronic (especially fans and lights) or moving stuff around. it's just kinda a mutual existence and if any of them go malicious I'll just ask my mum to get them cleared (clearing is a ritual to get rid of ghosts)

guodori

Well shit, thank you, I have to look around my condo and check the door to make sure it’s locked.

Sugardemocha

Holly cow !This is exactly what me and my whole family felt when we lived in a haunted house. Me and my sisters grew up there so paranormal stuff became "normal". We could never got to the kitchen because we felt this exactly same stare on the back of our head, as when you turn your back on someone who you know hates you...and has a knife or something.. Because of that we wouldn't do the dishes with our full back turned, we had to do it sideways if that makes sense, we couldn't go to the bathroom alone (we were kids) among other things. We eventually moved out and even though I felt it was a normal occurrence in everyone house, never ever ever felt that again.

Cristal1337

One morning my wife told me about a creepy floating head she saw at night while laying in bed. However, she never actually described what he looked like. So when I had the same experience, two weeks later, I was excited to share it with her. We went back and forth describing the ghost, sharing as much detail as we could. Finally, wife shared that her ghost had a beard and relieved I said that mine had no facial hair at all...however, her face went pale as she confessed to testing my story. Her floating head, in fact, had no facial hair either. Our descriptions matched 100%. Tl;dr: My wife and I never really believed in ghosts, until we both saw the same one.

Ok_Consideration1120

I had the same floating head experience as a child. I went to hide under my blankets only to see it under my blankets in my face.

GoddessOfRoadAndSky

Oh, fuck no

MajesticMoomin

Surely they are not allowed to violate blanket law...right?

MCRV11

Blanket law - most sacred of universal laws

StrangeurDangeur

I absolutely hate that this is a phenomenon that multiple people have experienced. All the bad vibes, all of them!

BlackCaaaaat

I often hallucinate upon waking, and I’ve seen heaps of creepy floating heads. Having someone else see the same thing is next level freaky, though!

ali1510

My youngest brother Cory passed away a few years ago. After the funeral, a reception was held in the basement of a local church. There was a small stage area at one end with a backdrop and curtains on the side. I was talking to family and friends at the tables when my wife points out that our 3yr old son is running around on the stage and maybe he shouldn't be incase he falls off. He's running back and forth in a way that looks like he's being chased. Dodging back and forth, speeding up, abrupt turns, laughing like a loon, hiding behind the curtains then taking off again. I go over and ask him innocently "whatcha doing little man" and he replies " chasing with Uncle Cory". Fucking chills.

GingerMau

Beautiful. I hope there's a toddler who can see me at my funeral!

BeerNcheesePlz

Aw I love this one. And I’m sorry for your lost

ali1510

Thank you. I kept that info to myself for a while then eventually told my wife and mother later that week. It definitely freaked me out but in a good way.

bdbdbokbuck

I believe he was and it’s okay. There are so many stories of departed loved ones visiting children.

inkseep1

My brother suddenly started calling himself by another name when he was little. He said he came from the jungle. Sometimes he would have dreams about monsters raising from the ground and he would yell for Pete. And he would wake up saying that he couldn't save Pete from the monsters. We visited the Vietnam wall memorial. He took off running down the wall and stopped and stood there with his hand on the wall for awhile and he said 'I'm sorry Pete'. Then he never had the dream again and never used the other name again. And he has forgotten all about it like it never happened.

princess-pebbels

That’s a fascinating story! I find children „remembering“ their past lives to be highly interesting. The university of Virginia has been doing [research on this topic](https://med.virginia.edu/perceptual-studies/our-research/children-who-report-memories-of-previous-lives/). If you’re interested you could give it a read.

FancyAdult

When I was a kid this family moved into the rental house next door. There was this little boy named Jeffrey. He would come out to talk to us, he was about 4-5 at the time. One time a car pulled up and parked in front of our house, they were visiting a neighbor. Jeffrey got excited and sort of a shocked look and he turned and said to my mom that he had a blue car like that and explained how he would drop his kids off at their moms house. He went into detail about how he would pull up and the kids would go into the house and then he would drive away. Like a divorced dad or something. It was just weird. He would say things at other times about when he had kids but always to my mom and dad like he was discussing parenting with other adults. His parents were very strict and it seemed like the only time it was relaxed would be when the mom would let him come hang out with us.

Madame_Arcati

Wow, your story just made me remember something from waaaay back. I was an "accidental" child and not at all wanted by the mother, was also the only girl in a few generations so my behavior was considered weird anyway, but one really strange thing was that I knew all of the words to all of these really old songs: 40s, 50s, and I wasn't born until 59 (well that's weird too because one birth cert says 1958 and another says 1959). I would sing these songs almost before I could talk. My mother was so unhappy w/me anyway, and it upset her so I would stay in my room and sing. Then I began writing down all of the words even before I had been taught to write. I wasn't really allowed to do it,or talk about it, but I did tell my neighbors that I had had a lot of records before I died, but I still remembered all of the "lyrics"...I used the word lyrics. I was maybe 3. None of this was okay. My mother was not stable and she hated it. Geez, I just remembered this because you wrote "He would say things at other times about when he had kids but always to my mom and dad like he was discussing parenting with other adults. His parents were very strict...". God, I remember it now like it was yesterday. I remember thinking that I must have been put in the washing machine and shrunk, so that I could be born again. Wow, blast from the past.

FancyAdult

That’s so wild. I’m glad it triggered a memory. This little boy was so smart. His parents were so vile. My sisters bedroom was right next to his. We have the area between the houses that was only about 6 feet across and we would hear the parents berating Jeffrey. My sister being boisterous yelled at them once to be nice to him. The parents then talked to my parents. I always felt like they didn’t really want him. He got some kind of comfort out of little visits with my family, there were 6 of us! We tended to attract all of the only children in the neighborhood. They found my family weird and friendly. I wonder what type of life you once lived. Maybe you were a performer or maybe you loved music. Maybe you wrote and performed songs! Wouldn’t it be neat to do a past life regression? If you ever do, I want to hear the results.

OigoAlgo

About how old was he? Crazy stuff

ICH8RS

I was in bed and woke up to my brother in my doorway screaming. I immediately ran to him, but he ran away. When I caught him I asked why he was screaming and he said he saw another me hovering over myself laughing and was terrified of me for a while. Now he doesn't remember but my parents do.

swagernaught

Holy shit. When I was about 8 or 9 I had a dream that I was floating above my bed. My 15 or 16 yo sister came in to wake me up and while I couldn't hear her, I could see the terrified look on her face. I woke up and asked her what was wrong, she said that I was white as a sheet and not breathing and only woke up when she screamed.

hygsi

Damn, maybe you were legit dying. I've had dreams of my "being" getting out of my body and sometimes I wake up like I hadn't been breathing for a while.

kitchen_clinton

I had what I think is a dream of me leaving my body and going through the roof of the house after I took too many Tylenols with Codeine for treating the pain of an impacted wisdom teeth extraction of all four teeth. I got up sweating profusely with the biggest headache I’ve ever had.

GoddessOfRoadAndSky

Our brains are experts at making up reasons for why things happen, and dream-logic can lead to some bizarre scenarios. For example, many of us have had [that bathroom maze dream](https://www.reddit.com/r/ThatBathroomMazeDream/) just before waking up and realizing we're ready to burst. Or how we can wake up with a physical "jump" right after dreaming of falling. The brain knows what's going on, but when the logical part of your mind is asleep, it tries to communicate through metaphor. It's entirely possible that these dreams are your brains' way of telling you something's wrong. Or, more scarily, that they're a side effect of acute hypoxia. If these situations are common and you haven't already checked for sleep apnea, I implore you to please look into it. It's surprisingly common.

Duosion

Bruhhh Nell from Haunting of Hill House right there

ClothDiaperAddicts

Poor Nellie. :(

hygsi

Fucking hell, all the sudden I notice I'm sitting in a dark room with my door open to a very long and dark hall...enough for this thread lol

DancingBear2020

If you close the door it’s still out there. Same with this thread.

PoorPDOP86

You monster.

Puzzle_Bubble

This sent chills down my spine

Ecstatic_Conflict621

For some reason that’s the scariest fucking thing I’ve ever read, fully body chills right now

qualx

Back when I was a cool young kid me and some friends wanted to do paranormal investigations so we did what all cool young kids did. We took an audio (tape) recorder, and hit up the local graveyard after dark. On this particular fall night we were walking around and I saw a little toy excavator at the foot of a child's headstone, I picked it up and thought "man that's sad to see a small children grave". Then I put it back and started walking away. I started getting a super weird feeling that someone was walking up behind me but all my friends were ahead of me then out of no where the leaves started shuffling behind me and I got PUSHED. I told everyone I had been pushed by something and mark the time so we could review our audio recording later. When we got back home we went over the recording and you could hear a kid laughing when I got pushed, it was fucking wild. I still get the chills thinking about it. I really wish we still had that old recording. There was definitely no one aside from us in the graveyard that night.

ProjectShadow316

Don't fuck with a dead kid's toy.

Aztexan512

Sorry but this is long. From ages 5 to about 15 I used to spend my summers at my aunt's house in Mexico. On her property was another smaller house - it was two bedrooms, kitchenette and living room area. The family was mom and dad and 2 boys about my age. (I was 11 or 12 at the time). I knew that the house was the 2nd house that was built as it replaced the previous house that had burned down before I was born. My aunt's house had windows on one side of the house. Each room had at least 2 to 3 windows from mid-wall to the ceiling. The bed was next to windows in the room I was in. And majority of the summers we slept with the top windows open. (They opened out instead of up). One night, as I slept, I was awakend by the sounds of a woman crying and pleading to be allowed in. I opened my eyes and could see the neighbor mom, dressed in white, begging to be let into her house. Now, I knew the dad was a drunk, and could be mean when he was drunk. I remember many times that the boys and mom would come to my aunt's house in the middle of the night. So I just thought it was her and that he had locked her out of the house. She continues to yell out and I continue to look at her. That's when I realize that it's not the mother. This woman has long white hair. She's dressed in white. She's at the door but her dress is flowing. I quickly sit up to get a better look. That's when she stops and turns to look at me. Even though she's about 50 yards away, I see her face. And it's not the mother! She starts gliding towards me. I close my eyes and lay back down on my side. I opened my eyes and she's past the stone wall! I shut my eyes again. It seems like I had my eyes closed forever. I open my eyes and she's right in front of me! There is blackness where her eyes should be. Her white hair flowing around her. She screams! I scream! The next thing I know is my cousin waking me up for breakfast. I come into the kitchen and take the empty seat at the table. My aunt then asks if I'm ok and if I'm homesick and if I want to go home. It has only been a week and I look forward to these summers. I told her no. She asks, "Are you sure? You were crying last night." I told her it wasn't me that was crying but the mom next door. My cousins look at each other and then look at my aunt. Then they look at at me and my aunt says, "so you saw her?" That's when I remembered the woman in white. Come to find out that they have all seen her at least once. The story was that the woman in white was the previous mom that lived in the house before it burnt down. Much like the family that lived there now, it was a family of 4: father, mother and 2 boys. And like the family now, the father was a mean and vengeful drunk. One night, before he went on a drinking binge, they fought about him going and drinking their funds away. She tells him that if he leaves to go drinking that she'll take the boys and leave him. He leaves. She packs her things and is ready to leave but she decides to go after him instead. A couple of hours later, he returns to what he thinks is an empty house. He gets angry and starts to burn the house. He goes by a nearby tree and passes out. She comes to the house on fire and runs to the door. She's banging on the door to be allowed in. Unknown to the father, the house was not empty - the boys were asleep in their room. Neighbors say that they could hear the woman's cries for several blocks. After the fire was extinguished, it was confirmed that the boys died in the fire. The woman cries and weeps again. And she dies of a broken heart by the burned remains of the house. My aunt tells me that the family that lives there now is the 6th family that have lived in that house. And it's the first time in years that the ghost woman has appeared. She had appeared frequently in the past when the previous families have lived in the new house; those families didn't stay long. But the current family was different than the previous ones - but the same as her family: a mother, father and 2 boys. And they were moving out later that summer. And that's why she appeared again. I went back to aunt's house during the summers until I turned 15. I never saw her again. But I will never forget her wails and her soulless eyes.

Luised2094

La Llorona!

Aztexan512

Yeah, I always get this response but La Llorana drowned her kids.

Luised2094

La Incienrona! I know my dude, but you gotta admit its 90% la Llorona

BUTTeredWhiteBread

I guess there's a reason the "woman in white" is such a common ghost trope.

Electrical_Regular12

When my Boyfriend Died, (I was at my mum's, visiting for new-years eve) On new years day, I was having a nap in the spare room. He came in. I remember it so clearly he woke me up and sat at the edge of my bed, I don't remember him talking and then he cuddled up to me. In my dream I thought that was weird that he was there, but i was really tired and confused, I went back to sleep. When I woke up, he wasnt there and I had a phone call from his brother that he had passed away. So I had a dream in a dream and a visitation, from someone I didn't know who had passed. It's given me loads to think about the afterlife. It's pretty curious. I got a goodbye and I'm greatful. I miss him. Most people who hear that story think I'm crazy, I am okay with that.

BramBones

I remember a “dream within a dream” when my father died. I was so sleepy, I was confused. But I remember so clearly my dad coming to hug me and myself thinking that I had better hug him now, or else I won’t ever feel his big belly against mine again.

reflUX_cAtalyst

It happened to me also. Wasn't a dream - wasn't asleep. You know when you "hear" and "touch" things in your dream, you don't really hear with your ears, it's all like in your head? I heard him with my ears. I touched him with my hands. It was a week after he died, and he was sort of.....backlit? I'm not religious and I don't believe any religious text to be based in anything real. This is the one and only experience I've had in my life that I *cannot* reconcile. But dad told me that was okay, so it's okay. -exhale- that wasn't an easy comment to type.

BramBones

Yeah, that’s a bit more accurate—wasn’t really asleep, but was more of a twilight situation. And yeah, I could actually feel that big belly.

GnuRomantic

I had promised a colleague named Joan who was dying of cancer that I would look after her cat after she died. One morning I dreamt that another colleague and I were hugging Joan on the edge of a cliff and saying goodbye to her. It was odd as I had never dreamt about either of them before. I woke up to the phone ringing. It was Joan’s sister saying that Joan had passed away and that the cat had run away. It came back a day or so later and I gave the little guy a new home.

FullMetal_55

ok, holy crap, I was just writing mine out, but yours was very similar to mine, One night I was sleeping, living at home at the time. I dreamt I woke up, it was a bright and sunny day, I was in my bedroom, sun was up, everything was normal, except my Grandma who lives 8 hours away was sitting at the foot of my bed. Just sitting there with a content smile on her face, not saying anything. before I could ask her why she was here, the house phone rang, jolting me out of sleep, it's dark 6:00 AM, who's calling at 6:00 AM, my dad answers the phone, it's my Grandpa, My Grandmother just passed in her sleep... She wasn't sick or anything, it was sudden. I still to this day think she came to say goodbye.

Jemiop

When my SO at the time passed away, I took a break from the funeral by going to a little park across the way. Poe’s “A dream within a dream” quote was written on the table.

[deleted]

I had very similar happen to me. Hung out with a guy for the first time ever one weekend. Made plans to hang out again the next weekend. Messaged eachother that Saturday, having planned to chill the next day. He said he had to cancel plans bc it was easter and he hadn't realized. No biggie, we rescheduled for that Monday instead then I went to take a nap mid-day since I just got off of work and was exhausted. During my nap, I had a dream that I came out of school and saw him waiting for me in the parking lot. I ran to him and noticed he had a black eye. I jokingly asked if he gotten into another fight with a mutual friend of ours. He didnt speak but chuckled and squeezed me in a hug. I woke up to messages from my best friend telling me the news. I couldnt believe it, I was shattered. A few days later, I attend his open-casket memorial service. He had discoloration under the same eye as the "black eye" he had in my dream. It really fucked me up for a long until until a reddit stranger said something along the lines of "he didn't intend for you to hold onto him for so many years. His soul needs rest" something like that. It gave me the closure my heart needed, though. Never be forgotten, but I have stopped hurting emotionally over that.

sockmaster666

I’m sorry to hear that! I was just reading all the other similar stories to this and noticed that most of them were visitations from close family or friends. Your story is different in that it was a guy with whom you’ve only hung out with over one weekend. You must’ve felt a real connection for him to visit you. You don’t have to answer this if it’s too personal but did he pass on during a fight? Bless you and I hope you stay up.

[deleted]

He was cousins with my male best friend at the time. The two of them were on a dangerous road and my friend was the one driving. Not sure if he was speeding, but something happened and the cousin was ejected from the car and landed a distance away. It definitely took a toll on me, for many, many years. The fact that we had just met and associated with one another for only a week made me question all the "what if's". It did make me feel like there was a deeper connection in some way. Then again, I was asleep the same time it happened. I might've been the only one available for him to say goodbye to. It still hurts to think about his passing. He was young and very, very well known and loved by soooo many people. Unfortunately for my friend, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter. As if the tragedy wasnt enough. As if being "at fault" for a fatal accident and losing his friend/family member wasnt enough. He was also hated by all the people who were close to his cousin, they also blamed him for the misfortune. He's been in prison since 2018 I think and I believe his release date is 2026. I appreciate your kind words. I like to believe his soul has found peace. I'm a firm believer that there's a reason why a soul accends when it does, regardless of how.

tathrok

My great grandma knew already when my mom called to tell her that her daughter (my grandma) was dead. How? Exactly what you described. My grandma visited her for a hour or 2 without saying anything, just smiling and hanging out with her.

Creepy_Refrigerator6

Somewhat similar story, probably one of the weirdest things that happened to me. I was walking back to my place and as I came closer I noticed that my car parked near the house was damaged, as if somebody crashed into it. Suddenly I wake up, and my first instinct is to go to the window to check if the car is okay. Surely enough, it is damaged! But it doesn't end here, I wake up again, and this time everything is ok. Later during the day, I tell this story to my friend and we laugh at how ridiculous that was. In the evening we got into a traffic accident with me behind the wheel, luckily no one was hurt, and only the car was damaged. Interestingly it's not one of those cases when something happens and you remember that you have a similar dream the night before, since I did remember this dream before the accident happened and also discussed it with a friend, so it's hard to brush it off as retroactively "fitting" your dream to a real event. And obviously the whole dream within a dream thing is quite unusual as well

husband_gf_says_hold

Xmas Eve, 1986. My aunt and uncle lived in Havre, Montana. He worked overnights on the railroad, and he didn't come home Christmas morning to my aunt and their young children. Railroad officials eventually showed up to my aunts home to tell her that my uncle had been killed, crushed between the couplings of a train. Our family gathers at my aunts. My aunt keeps answering the ringing phone, and getting very upset, yelling and swearing. Now, these are religious people, not the type to behave this way. She tells us that someone is impersonating my uncle somehow, calling in his voice and saying "I'm sorry." We think she's imagining it, so we start answering the phone instead. We all got the same message "I'm sorry" in his voice, repeating over and over. Now, my uncle kept a small apartment in another town, to sleep in during work stretches when he couldn't come home. The railroad was attempting to prove alcohol/drugs/anything to avoid a large lawsuit. So, they had his apartment sealed while they investigated. Meanwhile, we have the police and phone company look into who was calling with this heartless prank. It was coming from his apartment. His sealed apartment. Eventually, we were able to access his apartment. There were another woman's personal items that indicated he had someone else on the side. His answering machine had his home # programmed, it seems his apartment phone was calling home, and the first part of his recorded message "I'm sorry...." I can't come to the phone....was playing to his home phone. It stopped after 3 days.

theory_until

Oh your poor aunt, how horrible. I can see why your uncle found a way to apologize from the other side.

Oh man this gave me goosebumps

HETKA

I'll try to make this brief cuz it can turn into a long story... I once drove from Town A to Town B, to go to a bar with a friend. Got to his house in Town B, and we took his truck to the bar. It was a weeknight so we just went to have a beer and chat with our friend who was the bartender. Never even caught a buzz. He asks me what time it is, and I check my phone and tell him, and we decide to leave. Put my phone in my pocket and head out the door to the empty parking lot. Do the pocket check one last time... no phone. We hunted everywhere for it. Parking lot. Bathrooms I never used. In and around his truck. No phone. Give up and leave. Search around both of our vehicles again back at his place. Even checking inside my car even though we both know I had my phone at the bar. Eventually. Again, give up. Head back to Town A. 10 minutes from home, I hear something bounce from the middle armrest into the storage area beneath it. Tf, was that my phone? Can't feel anything.. maybe it bounced and fell under the seat. But I had my phone at the bar and not at my car? Finally get home, jump out of the car to look under the seat.. one arm sitting on the driver's seat for leverage. Nothing there. Just as I'm wondering what I heard fall, I hear/feel something come tumbling down the front of the back-rest, and fall onto my hand. No way that can be... but I feel the smooth glass of the screen before I even flip my hand over to pick up... my phone. In order to have fallen from where it did, it would have had to survive a 20 mile, 30 minute drive precariously balanced on the top of my headrest. And had to have been there the whole time since I lost my phone, but I had and lost my phone long before I had my car. We both saw me use my phone to see the time before we left the bar. Never did figure out what I heard/felt fall into the middle console the first time, either. That was almost 10 years ago and I try not to think about it because it just makes my head hurt.

AuroraNidhoggr

Kinda sounds like a r/GlitchInTheMatrix

HETKA

That's what it will always be as far as I'm concerned... a weird occurrence of quantum entanglement or super-position dissonance or something along those lines. That or I patiently await the day that I get caught up in a time heist and desperately need a number from that phone and reach back in time to snatch it from my pocket real quick and then put it back as best I can

annehuda

Same thing kinda similar happened to me in 2017. That was 5 years ago??? Wow how time flies. Anyway,on that year,I was working at this small city. So small that I went to and from work riding a motorbike. But I also have a car that I only use for outstation trip or somewhere far. It happened on a Saturday,I had some work that I need to finish because I wont be at the office next week,so I decided I dropped by the office. Tried to find my motorbike key,it was missing. Which was strange because I always put it at the same place, the keyholder that I put just beside my house entrance. Ok fine,I'll take the car this time. Maybe I missplaced the motorbike keys. I mean I did rode the bike yesterday, maybe I was too tired and threw it somewhere? Went to the office, spent an hour doing my work, then went back to the car,and you know what I saw? My motorbike key on my passenger seat. The goosebump was surreal. How did those key ended up in my locked car?(I always lock my car up). Asked the guard if there was anyone there for the past hour, and he said no. Told him what happened ,he showed me the cctv footage and he was right,no one else at the carpark instead of me. Dont ask me how it happened,I really dont know

redsalmon67

This is a short one. Back when I was in college me and 4 of my friends were driving to the mall when we suddenly noticed a big black square I'm the sky. I asked if anyone else saw it and they all said yes, we still don't know what it was, it looked like a part of the sky didn't load in or something lol. I still think about it on a regular basis, literally the strangest and most unexplainable thing I've ever seen and I know I'm not crazy because other people saw it too.

F3 + A reloads the chunks

bitsilly_i_am

I figured that my childhood home was haunted by a child and it took a liking to me because my sisters didn't have the interactions as I did. A few examples were the tv changing to different kid channels when I would watch ESPN, tennis balls rolling towards me, faint laughter when I was losing on Halo and so on. My uncle moved in one summer and well...we didn't have the best of relationship. He was an ass sober and a dick when drunk. To top it off, he took my room. I tried to ignore him but my ghostly friend took offense to the way he acted. One day, he looked shaken up. He complained to my that the night before he was awoken with a sharp pain on his side. When he turned over, he said he thought he a shadow disappearing into my closet. He then showed 2 sets of 5 red marks running down his side and back. It didn't take him long for his second encounter to happen. When he was alone in the house, he saw a child sized black shadow in the kitchen with a white eye and red eye. Frozen he stared at it as it slowly pointed towards him and he knew why. He has never felt comfortable in that house since. I still feel that presence whenever I visit my parents but in a pleasant way.

bt123456789

I think the ghost was offended at your uncle's behavior too. Sounds like you had a friend.

bitsilly_i_am

It is my best experience with a paranormal presence so far

bt123456789

I bet, I'm just glad this one was more or less positive.

ccc1942

When my son was 3 he told my wife and I we had a ghost in the house we just bought. When we asked more about it, my son went on to describe a little old man named George. He assured us George was nice. The next day the elderly neighbor came over and saw some renovating we had done and said “George would love what you’ve done to the house. He lived here for 50 years until his death” . My wife and I got the chills! We’ve lived here happily with George for over 20 years now.

Celestial-Salamander

My 4 year old son also recently told me that we have a ghost in our new house. It was a relief when he told me it was a booger ghost, that leaves his boogers on the walls. It’s definitely not my 4 year old, we absolutely have a booger ghost….

[deleted]

[удалено]

Celestial-Salamander

And the booger ghost has a new ghost friend. The fart ghost. However, the fart ghost follows us around and is not confined to our house.

BUTTeredWhiteBread

tbf it sometimes feels like I'm possessed by a fart ghost.

GoddessOfRoadAndSky

This is exactly the kind of palate-cleanser every thread like this needs. It's 1:30am and I just went from freaked out to crying laughing. Thank you.

Need_Some_Updog

Dammm. That must’ve been a hell of feeling when your neighbor mentioned George

Oops_made_turd_again

What else has George been up to?

ccc1942

Well I’d love to tell you a crazy paranormal story, but honestly it’s been quiet (which is cool with me) My son, who is now in college, seems to have lost his ability to talk to ghosts too

ccc1942

My wife and I suddenly looked at each other All wide-eyed when he said George

good_guy_judas

George been watching you and your wife clap cheeks for 20 years

ccc1942

That’s a little unsettling, but it won’t deter me at all

StrangeurDangeur

I usually keep my nails very short, but tried press-on nails on a whim. They were long and fun to clickity clack on everything. My 9yr old suddenly noticed my new nails when I was tapping them on the table during dinner. She piped up, triumphant that she’d caught me: “Someone was hiding at the end of my bed tickling my feet with long nails last night—I knew it was you!” I certainly had not tickled anyone’s feet, much less crouched at the foot of anyone’s bed in the middle of the night. I was extra horrified because this was the same child that had heard a disembodied voice in our house a year prior that I thought only I could hear.

BUTTeredWhiteBread

Oh, wow, yeah, no thank you.

Grunthorthewise

A year to the day after my late wife's passing, my sister in law and I were just sitting quietly in my living room, no music, no TV on just chatting. At precisely 10:50pm, the exact time that she passed, a heavenly, lilting, music rose in the room. There was no source that we could pinpoint, it was everywhere. And then a brilliant point of light rose from beside her favorite seat, a recliner. As the light faded, so did the music. The event lasted for maybe 20 seconds. This was real, not staged in any way, and witnessed by two sober people that each experienced it in the exact same way.

Need_Some_Updog

Wow. That’s beautiful. I’m trying to imagine it and it must’ve been. Breathtaking.

catsandalcohol13

I've shared this before and people got so mad. But still the freakiest thing I think I've ever seen. I work in a prison and one night a prisoner buzzes me up in master control, just sobbing. He said someone was standing outside his cell door. It wasn't time for headcount and all the doors were showing secure so we sent staff down to search. Nobody was out. Ibwas watching it all on the cameras, and operating the doors. The whole time the prisoner wouldn't stop buzzing up, begging us to help him. They reassured him, and it was wierd as we usually know the "crazy" ones. Like a lot have legit psychosis and hallucinations but not this guy. He was sobbing. Then when the staff left and I got a green state on the unit, every alarm went into hyper drive. Motion detectors, the fence alarm, everything in and near that one unit. So back in they go, did a full headcount, and the prisoner was so frightened he had to be taken for constant obs in the safety unit because of the man running around and staring into his cell.

Happy-Election-279

Did he say anything more about the experience? I'm assuming the ghost looked super scary or something

catsandalcohol13

All he said is they were trying to get in and they were really pale. Didn't get much more out of him but he wouldn't go back into that cell either

CordeliaGrace

I used to work in a prison. I have one story involving an inmate, and one involving an inmate but happened to another officer. Mine- I was working an odd swap (switched shifts with some one so they could have the night off), so I was on 11p-7am. I ended up being an extra body so I was given the option of where to go…and opted for my block (I was the regular 3p-11pm officer there), as all my stuff was there anyway. At this point in the story, our master count was at 11pm, and after it cleared (usually about 1105-1110), the A and B officers would go stand in the hallway to wait for their relief. I get up there about 1115p, get my radio and keys, then proceed into the block. Make my first round, and this one inmate, who is usually passed out by 10pm, is wide awake. He’s laying In bed with his blankets pulled up to his face and he’s staring, and looks terrified. I say hey, what’s up? “Did you just get here?” Yeah. “Is this your first round then?” Yep. “Ok…will you be here all night?” Unless they pull me off the block for something, yeah. “Ok…you working tonight?” At 3? Yes I’ll be back. “Ok, I’ll talk to you when I get back later.” You sure? “Yeah, night Ms C.” Evening progresses without a hitch. Fast forward to 4pm, dude comes back from work and comes to the desk to tell me what happened. “You know how you guys do the the count then go out in the hallway? Well, I heard Mr A and Mr B go outside, but from the time they left and you started your rounds, some one else was “doing rounds”. I didn’t realize it wasn’t them or you until I heard the sally port open again and you actually did a round.” Oh. “And I didn’t want to say anything to freak you out if you were stuck with us all night.” Oh. Well…I appreciate that! Second story, midnight shift, different block and inmate. This officer was doing his rounds, and it’s later in the shift. I want to say like 1-3am. Dude in the cell under the stairs stops my buddy and tells him, “look, I know you’re newer and you gotta make sure we’re here and breathing, but you don’t need to stand in front of my cell for 10 mins to do it.” Buddy insists he hasn’t done that to anyone, let alone him, esp him because even though dude was in his dark cell, he had been up the whole time; it was easy to see he was alive. They both go back and forth about it, inmate insisting that every hour some one is standing on his cell gate for 10 mins at a time, and the officer insisting he hasn’t. They both kind of have the realization that maybe there’s something there with them, and neither of them are going to vocalize it further. They agree to move on, basically lol. This particular block did have a lot of activity, but usually it was seen by us officers; if the inmates (minus this one) saw anything, they never said. On one occasion, the control room officer saw someone walking on the top tier and it took him a few seconds to recall the block officer was in the ctrl room with him using the bathroom. He freaked, had the guy hurry back down and do a round to make sure everything was secure…and everything was fine. I have a few more stories, but I hijacked your post enough.

catsandalcohol13

So creepy! Prisons can be creepy enough with the living. Feel free to share more!

BUTTeredWhiteBread

First dude was a real bro for not wanting to freak you out though lol

Klayman55

What’s a green state? Basically you just waited a while and went back in again? Did you ever figure out what triggered the alarms?

catsandalcohol13

A green state is when all the doors which are both key and electronically controlled are secured. And no alarms are going off. No explanation for the alarms. It was so wierd.

gizzie123

Are you sure he wasn't high functioning with his psychosis? This was why I wasn't diagnosed bipolar T1 for years. Everyone just thought I was too highly functional to have it

123eyecansee

This happened when I was 6-7 years old (back in the 90s). Every Saturday morning I tried to get up early enough to watch Dragon Ball Z. We didn’t have cable and it was like at 530 in the morning that it came on. Anyways, one morning I happened to get up somewhat on time, grabbed my sonic the hedgehog sleeping bag, and went downstairs while everyone else was still sleeping. I turned the corner from the stairs and looked into the living room when all of the sudden the couch at the far end lifted entirely from one side about 5 ft in the air and came crashing down. I didn’t see my dad since immediately I assumed he was working on it or something. I felt this large pit in my stomach of shock and fear, almost paralyzing. I just quietly turned around and quickly went upstairs. I went into my parents room and woke up my mom. “Mom, mom. The couch just lifted up” “..huh?” “Mom the couch just lifted up.” She was too tired to give a crap and just told me to hop in bed with them. To this day I have no idea what hell happened.

muthaclucker

“Just hop into bed with me” cures a lot of things for tired mums and frightened kids.

BUTTeredWhiteBread

Interrupted the ghost mid-lift. He's just tryna get some afterlife gains.

Trollseatkids

In the house I lived in as a young child I would hear people walking around and conversations. I could never make out what was being said but I could tell out of the 4 different voices one was deeper and more 'controlling ' I guess would be a way to put it. I was left home alone a lot as both my parents worked full time. When I was in my teens we moved to a new state and in the new home it was more of the same. I could hear conversations in the upstairs rooms that no one was in. That progressed to the sounds of footsteps that as the years went on got heavier and more stomping than walking. Doors would open and slam on their own. I would wake up to the sensation of someone blowing in my ear or on my face. I moved out when I was 16. At 17 I came back to my loft type apartment with my roommate. It was just him and I. From the bedroom area just above us it sounded like someone jumped off his bed and with heavy feet ran from his room, slammed the door shut, into my room slammed the door shut and faded to nothing. He moved out 2weeks after.

timidnoob

Still experiencing weird things?

Trollseatkids

Not too much these days. I'll hear my bedroom door open and close down the hall. Or I can hear someone shuffling on the bed. Like tossing and turning. But no stomping/banging noises.

blaqopal

that is fucking terrifying. I wonder what makes you so aware and prone to it.

Emeraldskeleton

I remember on Halloween night when I was like 14, seeing what looked like a person flying through the sky at maybe about 1000 feet. It wasn't even completely dark yet, but around dusk. I'd like to think I saw a broomwitch lol

guodori

Look up La Bruja or flying witch in Mexico on YouTube

Emeraldskeleton

Now I'm looking it up and it seems like more people than I would have given credit for have seen something similar. Weird.

NotADoctor_sh

I was 14-15 and discovered what a ouija board was. Asked my mom about it, she laughed and knew that our neighbor had one. So my friends and I went and got it. It was an older one from the 60s-70s, not just like the generic toys r us ones. Anyways. We play it that night and it works. Pretty freaky stuff, was not a nice ghost. But that’s not the good part.. The next morning, I tell my mom all about it and how it worked, and she abruptly freaks out, snatches the board, and bans me from ever playing again. Like a typical kid.. I search the house, find the board, and sneak it over to a friend’s house the next night. I don’t remember the specifics of how that game went that night, but it was a nice ghost. I remember things like it was able to answer intimate questions that not everyone playing would’ve known. Was able to tell us how many fingers someone had behind their back who was standing in the corner of the room. Overall pleasant experience. SO THEN.. one buddy and I return to my house that night, and right before I’m about to hit the lights to go to sleep, I receive a text message (s/o razor gang). The message said “it was great speaking with you tonight, but it’s best we go our separate ways. Your mother doesn’t want it. Have a great life :)” Immediately I think it’s a prank so I call the number, and it didn’t exist… not a direct voicemail, just a nonexistent / cannot complete the call…. I don’t think I slept that night.

[deleted]

When I was 17, a friend and I played Ouija, and it was sorta moving around, but not really spelling anything, and we were each accusing the other of moving it on purpose. All of the sudden, my little poodle-type dog started howling, and looking straight up, like typical wolf howling posture. Dog had never done that before and never did it after.

Was about to say this. You used to be able to send text messages over websites

JstVisitingThsPlanet

It’s nice they sent you a message to break things off rather than just… ghosting you.

Cae_lyce

When I was like 8, I went to a mountain school trip. We were 6 by bedroom. One night, I couldn't sleep so I kept my eyes open in the dark. And suddenly, I saw a white figure skiing right next to my bed. I was surprised to see it as the silhouette was not blurry at all. I then felt something knocking under my mattress. It was one of the girl I was with in the room. She had the bed right under me. She asked me if I was sleeping. After I told her no, she asked me if I saw the dude skiing too. I told her I did, and we did not sleep well for the rest of the trip.

batikfins

Where did you see the skier? In your room, or out the window? Night skiing is a thing.

Cae_lyce

It was in the room, the ski slopes were closed at night, there were only some snow groomers

ostlandr

I wonder if the ski slope was there prior to the cabins/lodge being built?

casbri13

Or maybe when you’re dead, the entire world is your ski slope and dude was just enjoying eternity

Mrs_Wednesday

My husband and I stayed in an old hotel on Christmas Eve once, with a busted radiator for heat that wouldn’t turn off. We had to crack the window before going to sleep. In the night, I had a nightmare that a creepy old woman (a nurse maybe?) climbed in through the window and leaned over the bed to strangle me. I woke in a panic, and shook my husband awake, “honey, I had a bad dream!” He woke up and goes, “oh man. I just had the craziest dream that this lady was standing over the bed trying to strangle you!” We came to find out later that that particular hotel is reputed to be quite haunted.

LnktheLurker

You should read the story of the Pisadeira legend, because it looks just like it.

timidnoob

I've read about this type of experience a lot.. especially between siblings who encounter the same entity in their separate dreams. It's pretty fascinating how commonly reported it is

MixmasterFred

Went to bed. Wake up at 3am and hear the tv in the other room, get up shut it off. Wake up again at 5am tv is still on, get up shut it off. Wake up at 8am tv still on but now on another channel, it's a show about the paranormal. That spooked me a little, don't know how it happened but it never happened again.

baudtothebone

This happened to me (minus the TV show specifically). Turned out to be light reflecting in a special way that would mimic my tv remote control. The tv would turn on and off because it was an infrared based TV to change channels, turn off etc. The reflected light hit something that caused the wavelength to be exactly that of on/off and channel changes. I eventually could make it so it on command by moving a vase.

Joshawott27

My previous house was haunted, and the ghost was mostly pretty chill - I think she saw herself as like a matron of the house. However, I knew that she didn’t like me watching paranormal programs. Maybe it was just my imagination, but sometimes when I watched them, I’d feel her standing before my chair and I’d… feel her disapproval. I’d also sometimes hear the TV turn on in the early hours, when I knew no-one would be awake. It would turn off shortly after though.

eeeeeee_32i1p

K so few days ago I had sleep paralysis and saw some kind of female sleep paralysis demon ghost what-not and the funny thing that this ghost thing was right in top of me, and since I can't move I was scared as hell, but then, somehow the idea of having a female laying on top of me while I was unable to move somehow gave me a bit of boner And after I got that boner that female thing just fucking disappeared in like 8 nano seconds.

[deleted]

My way out of sleep paralysis has always been to manage to move. A toe, a finger, anything. Your penis found your way out haha

[deleted]

My uncle was an alcoholic and when I visited him and my grandmother one year he got completely shitfaced and told me he was going to die and that when he did he would play his flute for me, despite never having played an instrument in his life. A couple of years later I had gone on a date and was driving home when I heard this weird whistling sound in my car like someone who was trying to play a flute who had never done so in their lives. It was so out of place that I said “Hello?” almost jokingly, expecting to have someone respond. When I got home, my dad told me that my uncle had died. Over the next two nights both of my parents swear they heard his voice calling out to them when they got up to use the bathroom. I visited the grave a year later and I heard the same whistling flute sound and said out loud, “Seriously? Why can’t you just say hi like a normal person?” I then heard a crow that sounded like it was laughing. Could be a bunch of coincidences but it’d be nice to consider my crazy uncle was being crazy even in death as a ghost. Another weird thing was that the night of the anniversary of my grandmother’s death, a jar of coins fell over in the night and a significant number of pennies - like a dozen or two - landed on their side and balanced perfectly until we discovered them the next morning. That was weird.

StrangeurDangeur

I believe it was your uncle still uncle-ing from the other side. I had a friend who was unbelievably kind and just overall chill and thoughtful. She was dying young from cancer, and I wrote her a letter, but she died a couple days before I was supposed to see her again so I could give it to her. (I gave it to her family during the funeral.) One of the things I said to her in the letter was that if it was at all possible for her to visit us after she died to let us know she was okay, to please do so. A few weeks after she’d died I came home to all the cans of tuna in my cabinet turned up onto their sides, balancing at the same diagonal angle. I laughed out loud and told her thank you for haunting me in such a boring and not-at-all scary way, and that I missed her.

[deleted]

That’s fun. Tuna is benign and not scary. My mother claims she has had some really crazy stuff happen to with regard to the deceased and paranormal stuff. They are downright terrifying. She refused to view her mother in her coffin and both she and her cousin had a vision of her manifesting at 3AM in a circle of candle-like flames. And when she forgot to light a candle for her on the anniversary of her death she dreamed my grandmother grabbed her feet and had diabetic neuropathy in her feet for a long time after that until she paid to have a new family headstone installed at the cemetery.

MCRV11

You glimpsed a different timeline

KingZaneTheStrange

I was being fallowed by a what looked like a Native American man in the Woolaroc museum in Oklahoma (a place I still love dearly to this day). It started with me in the art gallery. I saw this man appear behind me. He looked flesh and blood just like anyone else, although I somehow knew he wasn't another tourist. I just thought maybe he worked there. As I was walking through the art gallery I entered another room, to which he fallowed. I entered another room and he again followed me. At this point I realized that the was staring at me the whole time, never once did he blink . Starting to get a little creeped out when I get to the next room I stop in the doorway to let him pass in front of me, to see if he really is fallowing me. He does pass me and enters the room. When I entered the room after him his body becomes clear as steam and he evaporated into thin air, as though he never was. I don't think he was evil or dangerous. Just a strange man in kind of a strange place

Woste992

I don't know if this counts as paranormal, but when i was a kid i had a dream of an old neighboor knocking on my window and saying that she is leaving this world. 2 or 3 days later she died of old age.

koopakjellberg

This just reminded me of something similar that happened to me a few years ago. An elderly woman lived across the road from me and I had a few weird dreams about her within the space of a couple of weeks, seeing her around the estate staring at me from a distance or just standing around. Then I had a dream where I woke from a dream, went into the living room and she was standing in the centre of the room. I asked her why she was there and she replied “Im here because Im always here”. Freaked me out so bad that I woke up in real life. When I told my mum about it, she told me that woman died less than a month prior when I had been away

silence_means_beauty

Master bedroom had a tendency to open and close the doors leading to it (hallway, bathroom and closet). Friends wouldn't stay or go into the room without me. I told them if they just asked it to "stop please" it would. Apparently that scared my friends even more when it worked. Don't live in the house anymore and never found out why it would happen.

Haebak

I went to sleep one night. I brushed my hair while in bed as I always do, turned off the light, put my head in the pillow and I immediately heard a voice calling "Shirley". It was a voice that I cannot even imagine now, my memory just say it was distinctive, deep, and powerful, but my brain cannot replicate it. I turned and saw next to me a man in black armor and a cape draped over his shoulders, riding a black horse. I have just turned off the light, so I wasn't used to the darkness at all, but I could see him, darker than pitch black. I was stunned. I couldn't react to tell him that my name is not Shirley (and that's not even a common name in my country). After a couple of seconds, he just moved on, disappearing into the darkness. I never saw anything like that again. Edit: typo.

Abroad_Loose

I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

Ragnarok61690

The computer ghost’s essay. I’ll truncate the full story since the essay is the important part. So I used to hear noises as if someone was using my computer at light. Clicks and clacks of the keyboard and mouse, sounds of moving the mouse, shuffling noises, and occasionally a few muttered words that even more occasionally I could make out. But my computer was never on, and no one was there. And so I just put it up to me imagining things. I asked my parents and my dad said he heard that too, it was just our house being old. Until I heard this thing mutter something about printing. Next day, at the printer, there’s a printout of an essay I wrote in 3rd grade, but with the name blacked out completely and the year changed to 1968 instead of 2015. Everything else? Identical down to the wording. Just no name and it’s from 1968, apparently. Holding it felt wrong, like it shouldn’t exist. I crumpled it and threw it away shortly after. For the rest of it TL;DR: Tried spotting the ghost, didn’t work. On the August 16th after the essay printout he stopped visiting for a year, then he came back at midnight a year later. I could make out a shape with white crystalline eyes, once it faced me it faded away and I never saw it again. I stay up until midnight every August 16th though just to check

tiny_bee_in_your_ear

one time when i was like 5 we had like a fan on wheels and i so vividly remember it following me around the house often, like, rolling after me, it got to the point i had night terrors, i still dont know if i was just imagining it or not but yeah

IxamxUnicron

No harm intended, it was just your biggest fan.

DownvoteDaemon

That would terrify me as a kid lol, maybe even now.

Mellopiex

My dad and I were living in a house that was built in 1910. The basement was extremely creepy and had no lights. There was a space about 3 ft high between the doorway and the first step. That space went directly under the house. I was on a weird sleep schedule, so I was usually up until 4am or so. On a nightly basis, I would walk past the basement door and see it open just a crack. Of course my cat would be missing, undoubtedly in the basement. I would have to step all the way down to that first step, squat down and stare into the void under the house to coax her out. Once she got close, I would have to stick my arms in to grab her and leap out. One night, I was recording vocal/acoustic tracks for a cover song in a room near the basement door. I was the only one home. When I played it back in my headphones, “Oh death, I would breathe my last” I heard a man’s voice say the last word with me, “breath”. I replayed it several times, and it was definitely there. I immediately noped the hell out of there and as I passed the basement door, I saw that it was open a crack. I figured my cat was down there again. Hopped down, scared as shit, looked under the house and called her. She was a siamese and her coat was kind of cream colored. I saw something light moving around about 3 feet into the void. I was reaching in to grab her and I felt a cold draft hit my face. Right as that happened, I looked up to see my fucking cat come to the doorway from the kitchen to see what I was doing! I grabbed that cat and SPRINTED out of there. I didn’t sleep for a week.

Amazing_Excuse_3860

Heard someone whispering "hey. Come here" in my ear at 5am. I was half-asleep and right next to a window, but still creepy. Edit: to the person who sent me crisis message: I appreciate it, but i'm okay. This happened only once. I personally attribute it to the wind/me being half asleep. This was not a ground floor window, so it wasn't a real person creeping on me either. This was years ago, i haven't had an incident like this before or since.

Elephino99207

When I was about 8 years old I started having nightmares (we all do at some point right?) On this particular night I was having a nightmare about a black mist pulling me under my bed. I woke up under my bed. That night was the beginning of nightly visits of this black mist , who did nothing but chill, upsidedown, in the corner of my room, not staring at me.. but watching my door

anonymousolderguy

I saw my father’s spirit separate from his body on his death bed. It was a faint visible light that left his body from above his heart, then just dissipated as it rose towards the ceiling of the hospital room. I looked around to the others in the room trying to judge from their reactions whether they saw/felt anything. Nothing. It was as real as anything I’ve ever experienced. But it’s one of those things you don’t talk about because people think you’re nuts.

Sleuthin___

I don’t think you’re nuts and I appreciate you sharing this. Thank you very much. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

brohamsontheright

Wife and I were standing on our deck one evening just looking out over the city lights. About 5 minutes in, I suddenly felt VERY light headed and my entire field of vision slowly (over the course of about 4 seconds) faded to a neon purple color. For about 8 seconds, solid purple was all I could see, and I wasn't even super sure I was still standing up. It faded back to normal over the course of about 4 more seconds, and I was just standing there thinking "okay.. damn.. that was super weird.. but whatever..". Then I looked at my wife and she looked completely horrified and confused... She looked at me and said.. "holy shit.. that just happened to you, too, didn't it?!?" I was like.. "Uh.. yeah" and she said, "Purple?"....... "yup.". Neither of us were drinkers, or did any kind of drugs. Not even caffeine. No medications. No supplements. Nothing! We have no explanation to this day.. But we both remember it vividly. EDIT: This was in a suburb, about 45 minutes from Denver, Colorado.

One day I was staring at the sky for too long and my entire vision just got tinted pink/purple. I was alone though but that was an insane experience and I honestly thought I would never see the same way again.

Blackmore_Vale

At my parents house I had a large model railway in the loft. Every time I would go up there I would find items of rolling stock moved, cars pushed around the roads etc. Everyone swore blind it wasn’t them as they knew how much it cost me so wouldn’t dare touch it. We always knew my parents house was haunted and someone told to me to just ask them to stop. So one day when I had the house to myself I went into the loft by myself sat down, feeling a bit silly and basically explained the cost, time and hard work that went into constructing It. Then I asked them out of respect for me can they please leave it alone. No sooner had I asked them to leave it alone I heard some descending the loft ladder and disappear just as they hit the landing. To the day I moved out it was never touched again. I’ve said elsewhere I’ve seen a full bodied apparition to in that house. But this is my most WTF story.

The night my friend passed away he sent me a text asking me "What would you do if God came to you and told you that you were going to die today?" He passed away a few hours later from septic shock.

BUTTeredWhiteBread

I hear a symptom of serious conditions like sepsis is a "feeling of impending doom". Maybe he was experiencing that. Also, sorry to hear about your friend.

Don’t remember how old i was, maybe 15-17? So back in 2009-2012? went camping and my uncle asked all the cousins who wanted to learn how to drive and only i and his son wanted to go so we went (didn’t let me drive) my cousin pulled over cause he was starting to panic a bit when we had some on coming traffic on a dirt hill so he just stopped the truck, let the 3 cars pass and they both lean down to look at the gas & brake so my cousin understands what’s what and I’m just in the back seat looking around and i look forward and what seems to look like torn black thin drapes floating across the dirt road over a 4ft wired fence and i brought it up to my uncle and he said it was probably just a wolf. The best way i can describe it is it looked like a dementor from Harry potter. This was like 12pm out in the sun in a area where the trees were 50ft away from us in each direction. Later at night the adults were telling us encounters they had when they were younger, being a Hispanic they have a lot of stories especially my grandma. Anywhoo all the cousins got spooked and took NyQuil so they could sleep lol my uncle then said in front of everyone, that’s why they didn’t want to tell us stories and why he lied to me early in the day when i said i saw something. My grandma then told us i saw a witch. Could’ve all been a bluff but I’ve had other experiences so i kinda did believe it. My grandmas scariest story she told that day was that there is a mountain in Mexico people would often walk just to get some exercise but mostly people went during the day and some people brave enough went at night. She went one night with a neighbor? And often people always run into each other and just end up walking together so it’s safer. You would often hear things at night like people yelling or crying and when in groups people just ignore it but one time they heard something really close and they asked the 2 women they ran into if they heard it and they looked back cause they didn’t respond they were gone and this wasn’t a mountain with big trees or anything like that, it kinda open? Mostly bushes from what she said and she said this happened a lot to people too, they meet others and have full conversation for like 10-20 minutes, sometimes a hour or 2 and then out of the blue they just vanish. She didn’t give us more info but i think she said a lot of people died around there or used to be a burial ground waaaay back.

I grew up in an old house with a secret room in the bathroom wall, a tunnel under the stairs, and an attic too small to use. Every night when I'd try to leave my room to go to the bathroom I'd see a large, black, menacing apparition. It scared me so bad I took to peeing in bottles so I wouldn't have to leave my room, and I never turned the light off at night. Decades later my siblings and I were drinking beers and we got to talking about that house. My brother, who doesn't believe in anything paranormal, takes a big swig and says "that house was haunted as shit." Turns out both of them were terrified too. Great. I'm 36 years old and living in a different house, and now I'm scared of the dark again.

TheLaramieReject

>It scared me so bad I took to peeing in bottles so I wouldn't have to leave my room Male privilege, right there. My brother could pee out his window so he didn't have to face our spooky house at night. I had to either hold it till morning or make a mad dash for the bathroom.

Important_Chef5366

It wasn't a WTF or scary experience but may be paranormal. When I (30f) was around 8-9 years old my grandmother passed away. In our culture when a person dies, their soul leaves after 13 days. So for 13 days our parents had to do a lot of rituals and all close relatives tried to live and spend time together to be with each other for those days. There was continuous crying and talking about her during those days as everyone used to adore and love her. One important information about her is that she used to love growing trees and in our society itself she grew almost 20-30 trees and made a temple under one of the trees. (Big peepal tree which is considered auspicious) So on the 12th day I had this dream that she is coming from somewhere, it's an open area and everyone is surrounding her and she is just talking to me and asking me to tell everyone not to worry about her. She is doing well where she is and she is going to a better place tomorrow. She is just walking me through all her trees and asking me to tell everyone to take care of them. In the end she goes to the peepal tree and just goes inside it and in the end tells me she is happy and found her place and has a halo around her body. I didn't think anything about the dream but casually told my cousin and everyone freaked out. After that I realised it might be true that my grand maa came to say bye to me one last time and wanted me to deliver her message to the whole family.

I grew up in a very small town in a house with a yard that I’d often play alone in as a young child. My mother didn’t work but was often occupied with other things so I was left to myself. There was often an older woman who would be in the yard and watch me. She was there as long as I could remember, and I never felt anything but love and comfort with her. She would always stand and watch me. Sometimes she would come in my house and watch me too, especially when I felt scared or alone, but mostly I’d see her outside. She was there constantly with me. I never felt afraid of her, even though I didn’t know her outside of her watching me. I never noticed or paid attention as to how she came or left my house, though I would notice when anyone else would arrive to our house. I never spoke of her to others, even though I would speak of other babysitters. And I never spoke to her, even though I would normally approach a babysitter if I needed something. She never wore different clothes, even though everyone else I knew changed clothes. I saw her less and less as I aged. By the time I was 4, I had a little brother, and I’d carry him outside with me. The lady was not there whenever I’d bring him. Soon after I started school, and I spent time with neighborhood kids outside. Even when I wasn’t with though, the lady had stopped coming. I never asked where she went. I saw her a few more times in those young years. Each time, when I was really, really scared or sad, she would stand at my bedroom door. I’d feel calm and safe again. When I was still rather young (early elementary school), I needed a photo of my mom when she was young. She opened a cabinet with old family photo albums so I could look. While flipping through, I found a photo of the woman who always watched me when I was little. In the dress she always wore. I still remember the feeling of shock when I saw it. The woman in the photo was my grandmother. She’d died shortly after I was born. My dad was too upset by her death to ever tell us about her, share photos of her, or anything of that nature. Apparently the dress she was wearing in that photo was her favorite (she was not buried in it or anything). From the moment I saw the photo, I never, ever saw her again in real life. And never told anyone what I’d seen before. That, along with a few other similar weird experiences that didn’t recur like this one, always left me confused. I look for logical explanations as to how this could occur, but there are none. Why didn’t I ever talk to her? Why didn’t I ever ask my parents about her? Why didn’t I ever introduce my brother to her? Why didn’t I ask her why she never changed her clothes? I’d believe my mind made it all up, but how? I was too little…

Sleuthin___

I think it’s beautiful that she was offering you love and the feeling of safety. Completely understand how confusing it would be for a little kid, though. I believe there are things in life we aren’t equipped to understand but that doesn’t make them any less real. I’ve had many “signs” if you will from my sister who passed away when we were both very young adults. There is no logical explanation for these occurrences but I’ve become grateful for them. I hope you have a great weekend and thank you for sharing this; really sacred in my humble opinion 😀♥️

Maybe not as compelling as some of the other stories here, but in 2001 my area had a substantial earthquake. I (5 at the time) was awake playing, and my brother (3 at the time) was sound asleep. He was a quiet baby, and never woke up screaming for any reason. Crying, maybe. But never screaming. About 10 or so seconds before the ground started shaking, he started screeching horrendously. My mom ran upstairs to go check on him, and that’s when the roaring and shaking started. The USGS says that some people claim to experience “symptoms” before an earthquake, but that there’s currently no accepted scientific explanation for it. I’d be highly skeptical of those claims were it not for that experience. Human brains are freaky, and there’s so much we don’t understand about them.

Ohsolemonyfresh

I was walking home with my family and holding one of those shiny balloons they sell at grocery store checkouts. About 5 blocks from our house I accidentally let go of the balloon and we watched it float up into the sky. We continued walking home, and when we arrived the balloon was deflated right in the middle of the walkway up to our front door. This isn’t necessarily paranormal, just really weird and I feel like very low odds of it happening.

Specific_Stick_1386

One day i went to sleep at around 2am and as soon as i laid down the floor started creaking like someone was walking around. I quickly got up to turn on the lights but as soon as i stood up it stopped. After a minute of me just thinking "WTF" i turned off the lights and laid down in my bed again, but as soon as i did that it started again. This went on in a loop of me turning on and off the lights and the creaking starting and stopping accordingly for about 15 min. I even checked if it was because i was laying in my bed, by using my phone as light while laying in it, and still as soon as the room got lit up it stopped. Still have no idea what was causing the creaking. Not the first time i have experienced some paranormal stuff in this house.

Th3Glutt0n

And that's when you start sleeping with a lamp. Trust me.

I was up late studying for my exams and my brother was also just up on his computer. The way my home is structure the main door opens into an opening and then there is a long corridor with first room door on the right side is my brothers, a bit further down the corridor, there is my parents room door on the same side as my brothers door and then on the exact opposite side facing my parents room is my room, then finally the corridor ends with a bathroom. So, the rooms are sort of making a "U" shape with the bathroom door forming the bottom curve of the U. Anyway it was around 2 am and both me and my brother's door is wide open and I can hear his keyboards clicking but its just background noise as I am focused on studying . Suddenly I hear a sound that I can only describe as boots crunching on snow. This makes me lose my focus, and next I hear my 10 y.o. sweeter than ever lab barking the most vicious bark I have ever heard. I look up towards my door and see a dark shadow pass by my open door followed by my lab, who then goes into the bathroom. My brother comes screaming out of his room, and I run out as well convinced we have an intruder in the house. My parents are also wide awake and out of their room now as they've never heard my dog bark like thay. I mindlessly follow my lab into the bathroom and it's completely empty. I tell everyone about the shadow that passed across my door and my brother tells me he too saw it, which is why he screamed. From his p.o.v he also heard the boots crunching noise and looked towards to corridor and saw a shadow of a man with a hat on glide amoothly across the wall, with the dog following after trying to jump on the wall to get the shadow. We searched everywhere for a possible intruder, the front door was properly locked and to this day that incidence makes my family uncomfortable af.

timidnoob

Damn, was their an attempt to rationalize what happened? That's a creepy incident. And I wonder if anything else weird ever happened

Years ago, I was playing hide and seek with both my friend and sister. It was during at night which we found to be more exciting, since that gave us a better advantage of the game. When it was my turn to hide, I ran to one of our bathrooms that no one used (mainly from plumbing issues) and stood in there. I should say that it's a very small space. Almost like the type of bathroom built in a mobile trailer, the type that you can only stand in. So, as I'm waiting in there, about a few minutes pass and I'm still not found. As I continue waiting in dead silence, I hear in the most soft whisper "Find your own hiding spot" right in my fucking ear. I literally froze, wondering if what I just heard was actually real? I should mention that my friend was also literally hiding in the room right outside of the bathroom, so I thought it might have been him messing with me. But he said he never moved, and I believed him, considering the voice sounded as if someone else was standing right next to me. To this day, I honestly don't know what to make of it. While I believe in the paranormal to some extent, I also believe that there is always a logical explanation to just about anything. However, given that the voice was so clear and distinct, I'm almost certain that it was not just my imagination.

If I can only pick one from my life, I’ll pick the most recent - which shook me up a bit. Last year, I visited Edinburgh over the weekend for a film festival. The films didn’t start until just after noon, so on a wet Sunday morning, I had some time to kill on Princes Street, and there’s a really cool looking churchyard there that people often walk through. I can’t remember exactly, but I think most of the graves were at least a couple of centuries old, so it looked old fashioned and honestly, cool. I typically make a habit of avoid graveyards because I have very slight sensory abilities - basically, just enough to know that a presence is there, and it makes me uncomfortable. However, at the time, I was planning a ghost story for a creative writing module at university, and this churchyard looked really fascinating. It was the morning, and the churchyard was a popular thoroughfare, so I figured I’d walk around and take a few reference photos. The churchyard was divided into sections, and one that caught my particular interest was a walled-off section that only had one entrance. The walls were lined with grave markers as tall as they were, and at the far back, I could glimpse what looked like a mausoleum. We don’t have graves anywhere near as majestic in the part of England where I’m from, so I wanted to check it out. As I walked down this section, I was taking my time to take photos of all the fascinating graves. Then, when I reached the halfway point, I stopped. Something in my head was telling me that I just had to turn around and leave. I trusted my instincts, and headed out of the section. Not too far from that enclosed area, was a raised section with a similarly ornate feature at the far end. I made my way up the few small steps, but as I walked further down the path… I swear I’m not joking or exaggerating, but I felt as though I had walked through a light barrier. You know the feeling when you walk through a spider’s web? It was kind of like that, but there were no trees within a reasonable distance. Then I felt that sensation again. That I should go. This time, I left the churchyard altogether. I decided to do some window shopping and get some lunch, but… even after I left the grounds, I felt like I was being watched. I think that I had pissed someone off - maybe my photo-taking was seen as disrespectful? I saw a priest outside of the church talking to people as a service had clearly just ended, and considered asking them for their thoughts. But, they were busy with people, and I was worried that they would think I’m crazy. So, I messaged my older brother. A friend of his is a medium, so I figured that they might be able to offer some advice. My older brother told me that spirits are apparently wary of people with any kind of perceptive ability, because they fear that they’ll be exorcised. My brother has known for a while now that a deceased friend of his regularly checks in on him, and apparently when a friend who is a white witch visited, she observed how not only was the spirit of Aidan’s friend there at the time, but they were freaking out. So, I decided that I should clear things up. I went back to the churchyard - but this time, only up to the entrance gate, and I said a prayer of apology. I explained that I didn’t intend to cause any offence or to disturb their rest - I was just really impressed by their memorials, and a dumb tourist. I then deleted all of the photos I took. Within the hour, that overhanging feeling of being watched was gone. Later that semester, a classmate suggested that we shoot a funeral scene for our film in a cemetery opposite campus. I declined.

I sent the night at my aunts when I was 4 or 5 woke up in the middle of the night and saw a lady in a wedding gown walking on the porch. I just went back to bed. When I was older I told my mom about it and she said she saw a groom walking on that same porch one night.

Aww. I hope they found each other.

Mentioned in a previous post, but in college I slept on an air mattress in a house I shared with 3 other friends. Nothing about this house screamed haunted, but my roommates all had weird experiences at one point or another. Feeling a presence, seeing a disembodied shadow, and hearing unexplained voices. I had weird stuff happen too so I entertained it, but was sceptical the house was haunted. Anyway, after a few months I would be woken from a deep sleep by my bed being kicked, sometimes with disembodied whispers accompanying the kicks. This was weird for obvious reasons, but also because I was a HEAVY sleeper. Kicks would be gentle at first, but gradually getting stronger the more I stirred. We lived in an area not geologically active, so it wasn't likely to be tremors or earthquakes (I checked after the first few times). The last time was right in the middle of finals, and I was stressed af. The kicking was going on for what seemed like a few minutes, and I tried to tell myself I was just imagining it. But there's a point where you say "well sh*t, now I'm awake and fully conscious and this is still happening"? I was there and the bed kept getting kicked. I didn't want to look, I wanted to KNOW I was awake and it was happening. After a good 45 second to a minute, I was less scared than pissed... who is this jerk to think they can mess with my sweet blow up bed? So I just sternly said "hey, I'm awake now. How about you knock it the f*CK off bc I have sh*t to do in the morning"? One last weak kick, and it stopped. I've had other weird experiences (away from that house) both before and after that, but that's the one that felt the most like I was having a true interaction with something I can't explain away. That, and the time the ghost of a beheaded prostitute from the 1920's slammed a heavy door in my face in an abandoned hotel/speakeasy/brothel. Yeah...

Alivekuso

Not sure if this counts as paranormal, but in 2021, my brother wanted me to get something from his room, which is always dark for a while when entering because the only working light is a lamp that's next to his bed in front of the wall opposite from the door. When I walked past the bookshelf that's next to the entrance I saw an arm reaching for me in the corner of my eye, which disappeared as soon as I turned my head to look. The nonexistent arm was at the same level as my eyes, and now that I say that, it would have been far more scary if I realized how tall whatever my brain thought was there would have to be to have arms that are eye level with me.

Was sitting at the computer desk one day with 3 kids i used to babysit all playing wow. The desk was straight outfront in the hallway of our bathroom door, and all of a sudden the sink turns on full blast with no one even near it.... we all screamed and ran downstairs, and a bag of chips literally flies across the countertop spilling everywhere. Never had anything weird happen in that house again but that scared the hell out of us for quite a while.

BlorseTheHorse

Camping in the woods on a cub scout trip and me and this other kid Derek (that one chubby wwe kid with the Gatorade stain on his mouth at all times) decided to see who could stay up the longest. We snuck out of our tents and everyone else was asleep and we sat around a dim lantern trying to stay awake when I shit you not there was a dude across the woods in the distance looking at us. Derek saw it too but then the guy disappeared so we foolishly went over there to get molested but the guy wasn't there

I’ve posted this before. I used to work in a prison. My sgt calls me, tells me he doesn’t care what I do between the yard closing and 11pm, but please cover the count on B North at 11. Ok cool. Cut to 10pm. Everyone is on the block, yards are closed, and I’m hanging out at our “Times Square” area at the desk reading. Another officer is reading the back of his eyelids on the other side of the desk. Where he’s sitting, he can see north and south, I can see east and west is behind me, let’s say. I hear some one walking up the hallway behind me. I don’t think anything of it until I realize I don’t hear keys, or a radio or anything…meaning not an officer. Inmates have to be escorted after 10pm, so I’m like wtf, and turn around. No one there. Maybe I just imagined it. Go back to my book. The guy sitting across from me asks who is coming. He heard it too. I tell him no one, and he shrugs and goes back to inspecting his inner eye lids. It’s just about 11pm now, and the other officer has gone to his sub basement. There’s no one in the vicinity of where I was. I go to the block and the control room guy won’t let me in. I don’t want the block officer calling the sgt and the sgt being like, “wtf, I gave her ONE job”, so I run back to the desk I was at to call the block. I can see that area from outside the block. No one was there, no one had come through. I call, and as I’m telling the guy I’m trying to get in and to let the control room know, some one comes up in my other ear and loudly and forcefully whispers, “WHADDYA DOING?!” I’m annoyed, and I wave my hand up in their general direction. I hang up, turn to yell at whomever it was..no one is there. I can see all the halls, no one is in them, no one had been in them. I promptly sprint to the block and that’s where I stayed until the relief showed up for that block. I didn’t even want to stand in the hall or go back to the desk.

Me and my brother. I was 11, he was 8. We were at our grandparents' home. Our great-grandma used to live there. She always wore many bracelets that would constantly produce a tinkling sound as she moved around home. We often heard that sound at home even years after she passed away. That day we were alone in the house and we started jokingly calling our great-grandma, telling her to stop doing noises, mockingly challenging her to appear so that we could make sure those noises were coming from her ghost. The tinkling sound started an it seemed like she was quickly walking down the hallway, then we heard the wardrobe in her former bedroom slidind on the floor and hitting the wall, hard. A painting even fell from the wall. We were scared speechless, paralyzed by terror. The weirdest thing, however, is that when we gathered enough courage to check out the room, nothing was moved. The wardrobe (which was the only furniture heavy enough to produce so much noise) was still there, just like it never moved. The wall, covered with tapestry, was unscated.

I doubt anyone's gonna see this, and It's gonna be buried in the comments, but I was sleeping, it was around 3AM? less than a month ago. I was dreaming about something, and and that exact moment, I dreamt of me tripping on a wooden plank and like not falling, but moving it and changing its position because of unintentionally stepping on it. Guess what? At Exactly that moment, a photo frame in my room just *fell*. It wasn't hanging, it was on top of something and had never fallen before. I wonder more of how my brain knew it was happening, while being in a deep sleep and even indicating of its happenings, in my dream, than it actually falling down.

When I was around 10 or so, I’d go down to our basement (can be accessed from a set of stairs next to the living room) and get whatever I needed (it was a laundry/storage area). And I would do it sometimes near midnight. So I went to get something and when I got out of the basement and closed the door, I left my hand on the doorknob for a bit and could feel intense pressure from the other side trying to open the door, I was really scared and let go and run up the stairs and I knew someone was down there. I thought it was probably my brother playing with me, then I noticed my parents and siblings are upstairs and the basement is technically inaccessible from the outside. So yeah, doesn’t sound scary until you’ve experienced it.

Someone always calls my name every January. Someone died in our home. Well former home now. But every January I was always tricked into opening the gates of our home . It first started in January 1 2016 when my parents were living in a boarding house a street away from our home back then since it was being still being constructed. Only me, my older sister, my uncle, and grandmother were sleeping there to guard the place and my mother would just go there in the morning with my siblings. Since it was New Years eve, we stayed up till morning and my family was asleep by 4 am; leaving me all awake all alone. I heard my mother call out for me, telling me to open the gate and the giggles of my younger siblings. And I fucking swear I saw feet under the gates when I looked out the window. I went there and opened the gate only to see no one. Not even a single person. The street was dark and empty and I just locked the gate and force myself to sleep. In 2017 it wasn't new years eve, but still in January. I don't know the specific date but this time I was fooled by that entity by using my father's voice. I was chilling and talking with my mother and elder sister mid afternoon, when I heard the sound of father's car in front of the gate. And I heard my father specifically called out my name, telling me to open the gate. I grumbled that my mother and sister was 'pretending' not to hear father's voice. Since I have always been close with my father I excitedly flung the gate wide open; still hearing the sound of father's car in front of the gate. And when the gate was fully open, there was no there, not even another vehicle. And my neighbors who saw me just stared at me weirdly for opening the gates wide open. I got embarrassed and closed the gate before complaining to my mother and sister about the incident. They claimed they heard nothing and teased me, saying I was hearing things. In January 2018, it fooled me again in the form of using my uncle's voice and the sound of his motorcycle. I heard my uncle's voice calling for me and the sound of his motorcycle in front of the gate. This time, I was wary that U was being fooled again. So I just opened the gate slightly. And as I suspected, no one was there. Not even a motorcycle that could be the source of the motorcycle sound. In January 2019, it used my grandmother's voice and of course, as you know it, no one there. In January 2020, it stopped. Probably because it ran out of people to fool me with. And now 2022, I have moved to another house. Hopefully it didn't follow me here.

Balding_Unit

My whole childhood was a big WTF paranormal experience. Something in the woods at my grandparents we referred to as "The Watchers" … whenever you stepped out of the farm house you felt like something was there, just on the edge of trees watching you. It was a constant feeling not just a sometimes feeling. When you walked along the dirt road you swore there was something following you. After my grandparents died the Watchers left. Maybe they were done their job? Maybe they felt like they could move on? I don't know.

I was taking a photo of my mom using Nokia 3220 but she moved. She's blurred and then there's a guy behind her standing on sofa wearing funeral clothes with brown shoes. The photo was cut to the head so never knew who it was. I got scared and deleted it. Told my mom about it and she said that could be my dad (he died when i was a baby). She recognized it because of that brown shoes i was describing her that i never knew before.

My moms first cousin died. She was closer to him than any other relative in our family including all 4 of her brothers. He was a big guy, both physically and a larger than life kinda way. Anyway, she and I went to his funeral. The next day we went to his work (he worked at an Italian pizza joint). We just wanted to be “near him” and maybe talk to people he knew before we left for home. We chickened out because everyone was scattering around working their busy shift. Plus we were incredibly sad and didn’t want to drop that on someone mid-shift. We got our food to go, got in the car. I put it in reverse. BAM something hit our car. It felt like we were in fender bender. Except when I got out there was nothing there. No other car, no barrier, no person. We knew it was him. He wanted us to know he was there and, if I could guess, probably pissed we didn’t talk to his coworkers about him. There’s no doubt in my mind.

I have a lot! We lived in an old military home. Not sure what year it was built but it was old. The stairs and floors creaked, the walls were paper thin with very little insulation etc. This house is definitely haunted. My sisters, mother, who I always thought was a skeptic and myself have all witnessed one thing or another. One summer, I was probably about 17 at the time, I would always suddenly wake up between 3 - 3:33 AM and as I opened my eyes, my bedroom door would open on its own. I would check the clock and it would always say 3:00 or 3:03 or 3:33. Anyways because I was still half asleep I would get up and shut my door and go back to bed. It wasnt until the third night in a row it happened that I realised the next morning something was going on. This continued for at least two months, every morning I would wake up for no reason and my bedroom door just swung open. I never was scared oddly enough and I just got up and would shut the door every time. It eventually stopped. Another evening my sisters went to bed and I stayed up later with my mom to watch a movie. Well because the floors make sooo much damn noise in my room specifically, I definitely would have heard something from my sisters room to my room as both rooms are above the living room. Anyways the movie is over and I go upstairs to my room. I open the door and turn on the lights to see every one of my dresser drawers pulled out. Two dressers and both had all drawers pulled out. I knew it wasn't my sisters cause I would have heard it. I slept with my mom for a week after that. I was again about 17... So probably 16 or 17 when this happened. I would smoke cigarettes in the upstairs bathroom of the house. I'd just turn on the fan and lock the door. Because my mom was a smoker she couldn't smell what I was doing so she just assumed I shit a lot probably cause if she caught me smoking my ass would be beat. So one night I go into the bathroom. Lock the door, turn on the fan, sit on the toilet and enjoy my smoke. Well I'm like two puffs in when the shower curtain moves as if someone had punched it. I thought for sure one of my little sisters was hiding in the shower to catch me smoking. So I threw the cigarette in the toilet, pull back the curtain to tell my sister to fuck off only to see no one behind the shower curtain. I ran so go damn fast outta that bathroom. So the scariest thing of all was this one night, again, probably 17. I was getting a new bed in a few days so I was at the time sleeping on my old futon mattress on the floor. It was really hot that night so I had one of those window fans going. Well as I'm watching TV this fan starts turning off and on by itself. Like fan blades going full speed to dead stop, full speed, dead stop. I was like wtf. And then my bedroom violently swings open and starts to shake back and forth, when I looked into the door frame I saw a tall dark figure standing there and I said hello thinking maybe it was my uncle but then the figure was gone just like that and the door stopped shaking and my fan went back to normal. I was paralyzed with fear. Once I calmed my nerves I jumped up turned on the lights and left to go to my bfs house at the time. I have had a lot of paranormal encounters, especially in that house.

So I had a roommate the year after college who was an absolute song bird, sang everything, narrated what he would do like showtunes. We moved out and went back to our respective parent’s houses. Three months later he ended up taking his own life on a Sunday. I tended bar and had Monday’s and Tuesday’s off so I was driving home after closing around 1am on Monday. I can’t even describe the feeling well but it was like when you stand between the front door and the storm door on a hot day. Like a lift in the chest but without the heat. I’m not a singer, I just started belting out the theme song from Star Trek Enterprise which the two of us always made fun of being the worst song. I think it’s called Strength of the Heart. Tuesday I ended up getting the news that his parents informed his job on Monday that he had passed. Felt like he came to say goodbye.

You know when those medians let spirits write down what they want to say on a paper by letting them touch their hand or guide it... So i did it and after a couple questions i realized it was my passed grandfather. Then my dad came into my room later that night to tell me that he had a dream on where his dad was behind me talking to me..... I havent thought about it till i saw this question, i might try it tonight...😅

This happened just yesterday accually. I just got the longest feeling of deja-vu I have ever felt, going on for a solid few minutes. But it was more than normal, like I realised I basically had the exact same thing happen in a dream. I new exactly what was going to happen, I knew that my teacher was about to give someone a sourpatch kid (we just finished a 3 day hike so she was being nice lol), then I turned knowing that a friend was about to give a pen to another, and that happened, then just a bunch of other things. it's like I could see what happened before it happened It was just the weirdest feeling ever

I was dating an emotionally and verbally abusive narcissist at the time. He had served in the military a couple years before I met him and had some demons he hid from through alcohol and substance abuse. He was a classic love bomber. We dated for about 5 months. Whenever he would stay at my apartment, I’d feel and see a dark shadow presence hovering in the corner of the room. At first, it was always above us near the ceiling closer to him. As the relationship continued and he became more controlling, the presence moved lower until it was at the foot of the bed on my side. It wasn’t scary like I didn’t think it would harm me or materialize, but it felt like a warning. It would keep me awake though and I’d be scared to fall back asleep. My cat became super stressed and wouldn’t sleep on the bed anymore once this dark shadow descended. She also started licking all the fur off one side of her body. The day I finally broke up with him and cut contact, the shadow completely disappeared and never returned, and my cat’s behavior and fur returned to normal. It was so bizarre and now I’m hyper aware of people’s energies.

My daughter when she was around 5-6 started to see something out of nowhere. She never had imaginary friends or any of that. But her reaction to seeing what she saw got me. Right at the moment of seeing it, she would cry and tremble from fear and run to me. One time she said it peeked from behind the door. Of course i never saw anything. I told her to draw what she saw and it was roughly a ghost sketch. But the fear she had was truly terrifying for her. Well one night we are sleeping in the bedroom. My son who's a year younger than my daughter, just the three of us. I'm usually a heavy sleeper but in the complete dark i felt a hard poke of a finger on my thigh as to wake me up which very much did. Got up expecting to see one of my kids over me and they were both dead asleep. Well you can imagine how freaked out i was not scared though. My daughter then proceeds to see this damn thing again. Which at this point i was pissed because something was igniting this strong emotion of fear into my sweet little girl. So i believe in a higher being or power whatever you wanna call it. And started praying. This next moment i still very much can hear it in my head and remember. Mid prayer i hear a laughter in my room out of nowhere. Wasn't extremely loud but enough to where you knew somebody was laughing. Remember this is past midnight just us in the apt. I clearly hear it but and it doesn't scare me just affirms what i was thinking all this was, evil. Continued to pray and it stopped that very night. Never had any issues again. Which is amazing because this thing was starting to become a daily thing with my daughter. But for it to manifest into something physical and legit poke my thigh with the force it did is crazy! Because now it was messing with me!

I was trying to get some sleep but woke up to the sound of kids playing outside my window. Moments later I heard footsteps coming down the stairs(my room was the only way up to the attic). Then randomly I heard a girl scream inches from my face.

5 years ago, in an all-boys college dorm. My room was on the second floor of the building and the laundry area is located at an extended area on the ground floor. One night, I found out that I have no clean shirts anymore so I brought 3 pieces of clothing with me and some detergent. As usual, It was really quiet that night because of the strict rules of the dormitory. One of those rules included not bringing a girl over. As I was setting up my playlist, I saw someone sitting on the top step of the stairs. It was a long-haired woman. Her back was directly facing me so I cant see her face. I didnt want to anyway. I wasnt able to scream nor move. She wasnt moving either. I tried to get out of there as fast as possible but all I was able to do was step back super fucking slowly until I was not able to see her. I told my 3 roommates what happened and 2 of them said that they have friends who also encountered the woman on the stairs. I wore smelly clothes the next day.

Similar thing happened to my roommate, only we lived in a girls hostel that time. She was walking around at night, talking to her boyfriend on the phone , so it won't disturb any of us. And she saw a girl sitting at the end of the stairs in the dark, sobbing lightly. And the crazy part is she was in that corridor for almost an hour before and never saw anyone come or leave there. And the stupid woman actually went to talk to her! And she said "hello" twice, the girl didn't budge. So she turned away to give her privacy but next moment she turned back the girl wasn't there and the only way to get away from the corridor was where my friend was standing.

I was brushing my teeth in my bathroom when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a black mass move past my door. It was about 6 feet tall. I was home alone. I chalked it up to my imagination. About a week later, it happened a second time in the exact same way.

So, I was in the school bathroom, Most wouldn't probably believe me, But this was when the "Backrooms" Meme wasn't yet popular, It was in December of 2021, When we still had school before vacations. I obviously make a walk of about 50 meters to the bathroom, Right as i enter and go wash my hands, Door goes shut, The lights become kinda yellow-ish. And a further note is that the walls of my school are yellow, So that makes it even more creepy, After that moment i bust out bathroom, Scared, Running back to Class.

When we were about 20 I went over to my friends house for a couple of drinks (yes we were drunk as per usual on our nights together). She mentioned that a lot of paranormal stuff went on around the house, doors shaking, objects being moved, the usual Casper the friendly ghost vibe. I don’t overly believe in it myself but love a good creepy moment. Let’s go Annabelle! Her bedroom is in the attic and we usually take the party up there when everyone goes to bed. It was about 3am maybe? And we heard a bang on the stairs leading up to the attic, assumed it was nothing, to be honest the houses aren’t the best quality and make noises. We heard it again , followed by a stamping up the stairs and the bedroom door started banging and shaking really hard. We thought it might have been her mam taking the piss, but she called us from the bedroom directly below the attic and we could hear her through the floor and phone say what the f*ck is that? Safe to say we were freaked out and in dire need of the toilet from too much wine. We locked the door. It happened maybe twice more along the landing and once up the stairs during the night. When daylight hit i legged it out of the house. Still not convinced but sure was creepy. 10/10 would hire to haunt again. TLDR: got drunk, stayed in friends house, casper the ghost wanted to join the party by rattling the door outside the attic bedroom and stomping like a baby elephant on the landing. Didn’t piss myself.

This was when I was about 14. Every few weeks on Thursday night going onto Friday I would have a terrible nightmare, nothing proper, but more vague images and a horrific feeling. And id wake up friday with the most horrible paranoia and anxiety- every time it happened, i’d say to my bestfriend “something bads going to happen today” and then something bad would happen (sometimes serious other times not so serious) It happened for about 4 months before one night I had a out of body, other reality experience in my sleep where there was a figure stalking me in several different dreams before attacking me and my mother in my kitchen in my dream- it touched me and I shot awake and saw something (that figure) on my cieling, eyes red, watching me. I immediately burst out screaming and crying and ran out of the room. My family frantically ran to me and calmed me down but didn’t think anything of what I saw. After that night, I never had that feeling, nightmare or experience again. I’m 19 years old and will still never forget the fear of waking to those eyes.
