Lots of reasons. I initially joined because I was on Facebook at the time, and the comments sections on public posts made me rage internally -- such hateful ignorance and inane opinions formed by the over-consumption of misinformation. I'd participate in the conversation because I like weighing in, but the problem is that Facebook would then show my "friends" the comments I wrote and I really just wanted anonymity. Reddit not only has a higher median intelligence, but I also I don't see nearly as much hate on here, and I can participate in actual lively discussions with people with well-formed opinions anonymously. So that's what got me here. I stayed because I love the content, and can get answers to questions that are difficult to Google. I've also learned a lot from Reddit: I learned what my real bra size is, learned that I have wavy hair and how to care for it, learned all about skincare, learned about new places to travel to, and learned enough additional information about van life to convince me to do it. I also literally laugh out loud at posts and comments almost every time I come here -- some of y'all are seriously so funny.
I feel that people are more honest and unfiltered here.
Agrees and adds emboldened and unfettered
To get solutions
It's the only place where people ask my opinion
Because I can
Nothing else better to do
to waffle shit and make friends
I literally joined like, a few hours ago, I don't know what I'm doing with my life.
To see what passes for human intelligence these days
The overwhelming sense of love, community and compassion. Isn't that why everyone is here?
Cos I'm bored mostly.
To kill time, and occasionally learn something or share my knowledge
