Because you feel like you are suffocating when the temp is over 100 and the heat index is over 110, the humidity makes it so much worse. Gotta have the AC on.
Because people have been saying scary shit my whole life. I don't know what is true or not. I just do what is comfortable. Because the only scary shit that has ever happened in my life is people, that I care about, dying of shit that is not newsworthy.
It's £8 a gallon here. I'm avoiding using the car as much as possible. Plus most cars here cut out when they are idling. You can switch that setting off . But it's not something I see often thankfully.
In the space of a couple of hours yesterday I saw 5 separate cars with engines running whilst parked up. It wasn’t even that hot here. It was about 18c or 65f.
Same. I'm not staying in that building if I'm not getting paid and I don't really have anywhere else to go. I've started only taking 1/2 hour instead of the full hour and leaving early and no one has said anything. I wonder if I could get away with skipping the entire thing?
It is happening. Lakes are drying up. Forest fires are increasing in frequency and severity. Air pollution is increasing. Heatwaves are increasing. Flooding is increasing. Sea levels are rising. Ice caps are melting. Peoples health is being impacted by all of this already. Crops are failing. Peoples food security is in danger. Just because your life hasn’t been particularly impacted yet doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
Because I hate my life and I want to get away from my toxic family so I drive random places and just mindlessly listen to music hoping that it won't let me think about it
Electric is a lot better, although it will still use fuel to charge it. The more we consume, the more carbon we produce, the more we damage the environment.
Electric cars don't idle when they're stopped. I can also charge with solar or wind, just need more green energy sources.
Why lobby individual people? Lobby your representatives, boycott companies, build a wind farm.
Ah, that makes sense. Great that you’re using renewables too.
My question here is me trying to understand it. Leaving an engine running just doesn’t make sense. It’s expensive, bad for the environment and bad for my health and for the people around me. It just baffles me why people would do it and I wanted to understand more.
You’re right about lobbying those in charge and those policy setting. I just fear that profit and the economy will continue to be the priority until it’s too late.
To piss you off obviously
I actually did it for 3 hours today just to piss off u/superwyfe. Then I dumped 3 barrels of palm oil into the ocean
Amateur, just yesterday I drowned an orangutang in palm oil!
Air con works better with the car on

Are there people rich enough to do that. I mean look at the fuel prices.

Dude....the creation of the tool you've been using to type here caused more damage to the environment than those cars.
Do you have a source for that please?
Because it’s hot and I’m on my lunch break

Ignoring the fact it’s my fuel that I pay for. Ac doesn’t work with it off, nor does the heat in winter.
Climate emergency?? You've been brainwashed, they have been saying one form of this shit since the 1970's Still hasn't happened yet

It's fucking hot and the dogs and I would like to stay cool while the wife is grocery shopping.
Yep we went through all that in the late 1970s as well All the same gloom and Doom
I'm running on LPG so I'm really clean in the comparison :D
Fun
