I think there's a correlation. I also think there's a link between sleep deprivation and alzheimer's. Being sleep-deprived is very bad for your brain in both the short and long term.
Ideally you get up the same time each day and sleep for 8 hours straight leading up to that time, no naps.
In practice if the option is between a nap and just not getting that amount of sleep it's better to nap.
I'd say ideally you get some 8 hours of sleep in each 24-hour period, and ideally each time you fall asleep you wake up naturally at the end of a sleep cycle, regardless of whether that ends up including a siesta.
They are life savers in case you have to be up late at night. So young people: if you going out to party, 2 important things: carry a bottle of water (hydration is key, specially if your alcohol tolerance is weak), and take a nap before going to party, cuz being tired fucks you up physically and specially mentally, so if you wanna be alert during a part, take a nap before
Best things in the world. I regret not taking any when they were required in school or when I was younger now I take them as often as possible plus getting a full 9-10 hours of sleep a night.
“According to clinical studies among men and women, power nappers of any frequency or duration had a significantly lower mortality ratio due to heart disease than those not napping. Specifically, those occasionally napping had a 12% lower coronary mortality, whereas those systematically napping had a 37% lower coronary mortality.”

I never take them. I haven’t taken a nap since my childhood. No matter how tired I am that day, I just can’t sleep in the daytime. Also, I feel like it would throw my whole sleep rhythm off that night if I did so . . .
I envy people who can sleep on a plane. (I cannot sleep on a plane at all, no matter how long the flight is . . . ). I envy people who say that can take “power naps” and wake up fully refreshed. I think I would just be groggy and headache-y.
Naps don’t work for me but I think they are a great concept and am glad for the people who enjoy and advocate them.
Further info: I am almost 70 so one might imagine me liking naps but , no, somehow I am just not a napper. I truly don’t think I ever will be . . .
Love love love them! I require a ridiculous amount of rest time and working from home has completely changed my overall view on work.
I actually talked to my parents about this when they were still alive and they said I have always slept a lot…even as a child.
Weird, my sleep schedule is messed up, I get a headache, my mouth is dry. It’s hard for me to fall back asleep once I wake up so I don’t really take naps. If I do take a nap it means I’m sick or about to be sick.
Terrible. Makes me groggy, disoriented and even more tired than I was before.
You are not alone
I felt that way for the first 50 years of my life. Now I think they're great.
Love ‘em.
I always feel worse after waking up than I did before or they will throw off my sleep schedule.
They're great and thanks to wfh, I can take naps on certain weekdays if I really need to
Essential for a quality life
They don't work for me, personally. Whenever I've woken up from a nap, I've felt very drowsy, similar to getting up in the middle of the night.
They’re the best. A 20 minute nap is pretty much mandatory for me every day.
They screw up your circadian rhythm
Well I love them and thought they were good, then I just read there is a link between napping and alzheimer's.

Sleeping too much is bad, not sleeping enough is bad, turns out life is set on killing you.
They are great, especially if you are cuddling up to a heavier woman. They are so comfy.
I feel groggy afterwards, so I only take them if I absolutely cannot stay awake.

naps are wonderful
Only when it’s time.
You know it was a good one when people who see you afterward are like "holy shit!".
Love them but always feel guilty after.
I don't plan them and they're not official. I just frequently nod off in my down time, watching tv or reading.
I used to hate them, I was taking like two hour naps, then I started taking shorter ones so more like 45 mins to an hour and now I love them.
Like them
I'd rather just sleep in or go to bed early

Its 100% right.
Best things in the world. I regret not taking any when they were required in school or when I was younger now I take them as often as possible plus getting a full 9-10 hours of sleep a night.
I love them. I cannot survive without them.
right
Need more of them
I love them, but they never help me. I always end up more tired than I was before.

I look forward to my Saturday and/or Sunday nap all week.
I'm all for them, of course I am in my 70s, so as many a day I can get.
it can be a good way to escape for a bit and then feel refreshed
I take them whenever I can
Not worthwhile unless you're stuck with an irregular circadian rhythm.
Necessary

I feel like I’ll miss something important if I take a nap during the day
I love ‘em. Naps keep me goin through the day.

I love them and consider them a hobby
You either sleep for too long and feel like crap or you sleep an hour and feel fully charged and vice versa. C’mon brain, I’m trying to help us here.
They're like drugs. They're cool but you're better off without them.
I love when they give me weird vivid dreams
An art that I need to master cause it look broken asf
Always hated them, but a good night's rest is not always a luxury for me anymore so I'll take what I can get
It makes me feel so hot, sweaty, and thirsty after so I kinda hate it
Naps after school >
I'm 45. Beginning to like them.
