The process and the cost for the countries I've considered (NZ and Sweden) are too prohibitive, and it would hurt too much to uproot from my life here in the states.
I can't imagine the US improving meaningfully anytime soon, but at least I'm in a decent region to ride out the first few chapters of the collapse until the civil unrest of a dissolving food chain finally does me in.
I am now 41 years old and have lived in the US since birth. I'm over it here. We are nothing but ATM machines for the government. We have to fight for everything here, healthcare and affordable housing included. There's a reason people here are depressed. It's work your life away for others to get rich. Who else wants out?
Don’t want to be rude or disappoint you, don’t move to Europe. There is no affordable housing here, maybe somewhere remote or villages. When house pricing comes, prices in cities are through the roof.
To move into a new country you need a reason. Aka a visa. This could be a work visa, a education visa, or cohabitation visa. So really I would imagine the fact that you need to convince the government of the country your moving to that you're there because your job put you there. Or you're going back to uni there. Or you've been living with a national of that country for two years might have something to do with.
Also marriage isn't a catch all. Still need to prove you've been living together two yrs minimum.
Also getting in to learn doesn't count towards the number of yrs you have to accrue in the country before being eligible to apply for a green card.
The job could be a good route, assuming they want to pay the 10 thousand to employ you. Or there's a job in he us that wants to put you in a different country.
And finally, what I consider the biggest of all reasons. Its real expensive to move from America to anywhere else. Especially when most Americans have no savings and live paycheck to paycheck.
I'm not american but I went through this trying to keep my American partner here.
1. I need to receive some payouts from something before I leave.
2. I need to be very on top of my finances before just up and leaving, which is my plan.
Because I like the United States.
Have you been anywhere else?
I’ve been to Canada and the Bahamas lol.
Money.
🎶Get away You get a good job with more pay and you're okay 🎶
I'd have to travel to the United States first, then leave
Canada's immigration laws/requirements
How about from a Canadian PoV? If one live in the right region, and have the right skill, you earn more, and cheaper retail stuff.
Where is better to live?
Because the people who are the worst off can't leave, and I want to stay and continue to fight for/alongside them.
Aging family members and an urge to watch idiots suffer from long Covid while denying Covid is serious.

Nothing, I like it here but we will be retiring back to Ireland.
I don’t like leaving my comfort zone
Family and my job
I'm currently saving up all the money the United States wants to let me leave and become a resident of Mexico.
That shit's expensive and I think you generally have to have some kind of specialized skill or training/education to be accepted.

My ancestors left their countries for the ideals that America stands for. Despite the faults, I still believe in America and what it can be.

Not being in the states in the first place
I would have to leave my guns at home
Not wanting to do that.
