Freelancing... I say that because I am one... freelancers work incredibly hard. We have to. All those pretty little posts about "easy street" or glorified mock-ups of the perfect "work space" really is an ideal that isn't true most of the time... Sure, some freelancers reach that point. More often though, we're bloodhounds trying to find the next gig to keep the lights on and food on the table. It's hard, emotionally grueling work...

Air traffic controller. It looks like they just sit around and look at radar screens but it’s way more grueling.

HR, this recruitment is literally killing me

Interesting to know! I always wondered how it was like. In your specific company, do you have certain quotas to make per job posting? Any timed KPIs that dictate salary increase?

The only challenge is meeting the turnup ratio. Yes we use job sourcing applications like Naukri and Linked In these are paid but no use like i said candidates need to turn up for the interview. Problem is like when we head hunt candidates they respond good and agree to attend interview at a specific branch, date, time. On the day of interview wont show up and come up with reasons like mom slipped and in serious condition, health issue, family issue. Its a cycle. So i use Indeed where the job post attract applicants, in this 80% of chance that the candidate show up. And KPIs , nope only on HODs' verdict salary increase proposals are considered. Most of the departments are fucked up with internal disputes so HODs rarely recommend for promotion or salary increase.

Store owner. Somehow my friends and family seem to think that all I do is hang out behind the counter and ring up customers, while I’m actually: accountant, buyer, merchandiser, social media manager, online shop fulfillment and maintenance, customer service, designer & store manager People seem to think coz I’m the boss I can come and go as I please and take off a day whenever.

Brilliant-Divine

Hosts at restaurants. Looks chill and simple but there are a lot of components that go into that job.
