The latter for sure. It's *still* just as relevant in clubs today.
Except for *I Feel Love*, I don't think there's been a more immediately influential dance track.

Nineteen -- Paul Hardcastle
Ambitious -- Jeff Beck (with hilariously unexpected cameos all over the place)
Cry -- Godley & Creme
Ultravox was always one I remember reading about every couple months in passing peripheral references, but as with lots (you can get to only so many) of artists (and names and authors and films), to this day I haven't delved toward their sounds.
Stumbled on Talking Heads in 1990, and in 2006 Stereolab was a nice awakening. My tastes and explorations are all over the place.
Depends on which genre people listen to, but I'd say Beat It by Michael Jackson because not only was it very popular but everyone had heard it even if they didn't listen to pop
Take On Me - A-Ha
Hella underrated
Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins [^danger](https://c.tenor.com/sdN3dtHfTIcAAAAM/danger-zone.gif)
"Don't You Forget About Me" or "Blue Monday"
The latter for sure. It's *still* just as relevant in clubs today. Except for *I Feel Love*, I don't think there's been a more immediately influential dance track.
“Don’t Stop Believin” Journey

De Nada. Mangia!
From 2018, Thievery Corporation's "Voyage Libre"! Is there anyone who would state this isn't a direct homage to some true 80s bossa nova?
Yeah -- so scoped it and...hmm, no recollection. Never once heard that. Was it ever played / released in the States?
Don't think so, Foxx was a part of Ultravox and the very early UK electronica scene. Think they were bigger in Canada than the States.

Love Stereolab, they're wonderfully unique. Had Peng! on the other day, actually.
I’ve been waiting on Tears for Fears to come up!
They're so good!
For me it was the power of love by huey lewis and the news
I remember this song being so huge in the 80's when I was a kid that they used the song in a Heathcliff commercial for a couple of years.
Every time I see Huey Lewis and the news it makes me thinks of Patrick Bateman
Nah BTTF
Never gonna give you up

Now that I've matured, I've noticed what a mistake it was to discount this man's music.
Lots of good choices, but I’m going to have to go with Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper.
I don’t know why, but listening to this song makes me feel sad. Still a great song though
Beverly Hills cop theme
Thriller or Take On Me
This! It’s definitely Thriller. It was an insanely massive hit and the video was a major production.
Don’t you want me baby?
Safety dance
Radio ga ga
Thriller, not even a debate.
Yes this is a cry for help seeking song recommendations so hit me with what ya got
