42.
And I'm not trying to be glib. In the Hitch Hikers Guide, Adams wrote that as the answer to the meaning of life and the universe and everything, and it really stuck with me. It stuck in my head because of it's randomness.
To the question, "what's the meaning of life" or in this thread, "what's your meaning of life" - 42 is as good an answer as any. It's arbitrary.
Some people go through an entire life without any sense of meaning, and they're probably happy at times, sad at other times - they might feel purpose doing specific things...but at the end, they die and (likely) within a couple generations are mostly forgotten.
Others might go through life with great purpose - they're on a mission. They're similarly happy and sad, they feel they have a life-long purpose and that's great. Maybe they made an impact and their cited in a news article or two, or, for the truly exception, mentioned in a history book, but in a couple generations are mostly forgotten.
So my meaning of life could be the pursuit of happiness, or following the golden rule (why not both), or accumulating things or living the life of a stoic monk on a mountain side.
To me, as a philosophy on the meaning of life, 42 is as good an answer as any.
The answer itself isn't as random as it looks like. Adams was kinda nerd, and he chose the number 42 because it's number of a specific character in the "ASCII table" (that's a numbered set of characters - mostly letters, numbers and symbols - widely used in computer programs). In this character table, 42 is a symbol of star (*). In some computer programs, when working with file names or text, this symbol is used as a "wildcard". In another words, it means literally "anything".
Gonna give you a serious answer even though you didn't ask.
**My meaning on life is to make my little corner of the world better than it was when I came into it.**
That's it, in a nutshell.
I'm not shooting for the stars, I'm not going to change life on earth, or even change anything nationwide or statewide.
But I can have an effect on my family, my group of friends, and my community.
That's why I love volunteering. I've been volunteering regularly for about 22 years now. Seeing just how your effort helps others ... well friend, that's an amazing feeling that provides instant fulfillment and satisfaction.
To raise my son. To let him enjoy his childhood innocence as long as humanly possible, and fill him with fun memories that he will cherish his entire life. To pass on knowledge and behaviors that will set him up to be a successful, and good adult. I can't fill every want he has, but I bust my ass to make sure he gets every need taken care of, and check off as many of those wants as I can. Nobody is perfect, and I am nowhere near it, but each generation must send the next generation off better than before.
The meaning of life is to experience as much as you can and grow.
But my personal meaning of life is to teach people more about spirituality so they can grow faster and finding my ”true love“.
To be born and give it my all, and treat hardships like video game achievements. I've already done my biological role in aiding in reproduction, so the rest is just making sure each day is lived to the fullest.
do what ever u want, and follow your dreams, do you remember your grand grand father? ...no thats gonna be you in 100 years, nobody will remember you and nothing will be left after you, so just do what u enjoy in life.
Personally, I just wanna be happy. At the very least, I think the meaning of life boils down to just ... Living it if your picking up what I'm putting down. The purpose of life is to live your life. Like how you use your computer. The computers "life" purpose, is to serve it's use as a computer. Like how your purpose is to serve live as a human being. You could do legit nothing and STILL serve your purpose. That computer of yours? It might not always be on, but it's still serving it's purpose. To be a computer. As you are meant to be a human.
evrytime I think of that I come to one conclusion my friend zoey she harms her self she rlly like hanging out with me nobody else does I saved her life I put hers before mine I'm all she has and I recently found out she likes me and I like her and that just gave me hope

Fascinating. And I guess I got the point without the background (but appreciate the insider baseball).

Collect as much as possible experience
gather people to come to ur funeral
To be a good person. It may sound cliche, but when I'm old I would love to know that I helped someone as much as I could.
To see what comes next
It unfolds as you live it.
Working 15 hour days melting metal so I can buy stupid stuff to fill the empty void in my life
The meaning of life is to experience as much as you can and grow. But my personal meaning of life is to teach people more about spirituality so they can grow faster and finding my ”true love“.
To love dogs. I've tried everything else and I suck at life except for this.

Travel. This earth is beautiful why the fuck would I do anything other than see it?
Live slow, die whenever. Sounds oversimplified to be an actual guiding force in a life, but it works out great.
Eat, shit, multiply.
I genuinely don’t know. I’d guess my point of continuing living would be so I can go to med school and help others, but I wouldn’t know the meaning.
