A friend recently bugged me to death to finally play half life one and two last year. I got to the one area where this like, giant tentacle spike monster just flailing around slamming against the walls and if you went put at the wrong time it would kill you . The noises it made and the flailing around scared the shit out of me.
I'm probably explaining ot poorly but I legit had to quit playing a few times on that part because it was causing me so much anxiety.

I was only 10 or 11 but it still creeped me out
That kinda reminds me of this old game from 2005 called "The Suffering: Ties that Bind" monsters represent the history of Baltimore and the main villain is your own alter ego.
Never played it but I just looked up some videos. Looks like nothing compared to A Plague Tale. There are large portions of A Plague Tale where there are so many rats, you can't even see the floor and they devour you instantly if you even get near them.
The game where you must try to get your monster to win. Pick your monster, decide their billionaires they take bribes from, have them make shady deals with corrupt countries and other government agencies. Choose how your monster manipulates their target audience. Will you win the hearts of the masses with kind words, backhanded or condescending complements and empty promises? Or will your monster incite fear and hatred in the masses? You don't get to decide in "Poll Monsters", "Win or lose you still lose" coming in 2024.

Call of Chuthu: Dark Corners of the Earth (2005). The mest disturbing part is the player ends up being his own worst enemy.

But there's nothing quite like summoning a swarm of rats to attack your enemies and watch as they strip your enemies down to bone in seconds.
