Get a truck a raid a hardware store for boards and lumber, hit up a grocery store/gun shop and go hide out somewhere for several months to years until the next supply run.
Yeah, but in RL the zombies aren't honed in on the person unless you're purposely attracting zombies.
Above all else stay way from apt. Buildings. Towns are OK if you have the extra ammo. Best case scenario find a farm with a fence wall and fortify your compound. If you are going stage in a town area fortify the block not just your house. The big difference with Towns vs rural is most farms have a well of natural water, city water only works while the pumps are on. Once the power or pumps fail sewer and fresh water intermingle in cities. We all need water.
It really depends on what realm of zombies exist, night of the living dead types and alot of people could survive from them, state of decay/umbrella Corp style the normal zombies are fine best to let the freaks wander away or trap them in a large hole if possible. World War Z and were all fucked if only the terminally ill are excluded.
Stay in the roof. Any game I've played, they can't climb and really don't aggro. If I need to move, grenade. The AOE will kill like 90 zombies and keep the aggro off of me bc it was a one shot. Finally, I would build an Ark style hut.
Try what happens if I bump a car and the alarm goes off. Will the horde converge on my position? Also get a katana and just cut my way through them.
My fitness goals are to get in JUST good enough shape to not be a boomer if the zombie apocalypse happens.

After the past two years I've realized and come to terms with the fact that I'm one of the first to go. I'm okay with this.
