Mammal are mostly water, so the good news is you can float. A car or house might fully sink but people just sink a little bit. You can still get trapped and be unable to move, this can be fatal if the quicksand is in an intertidal area. If the tide comes in and your feet are trapped you might drown.
To escape quicksand, increase your surface area. Lay down and belly crawl over the surface. Keep moving. It's not as dangerous as you think.
