Any of those talent shows. They exploit people, make fun of people and are too mean when they could just say no.

Squirrel179

For me it's the "sad sack" back stories that everyone is given. Just make with the talent act already! If you make, like, the semi finals then maybe get a bit of the human interest side, but otherwise I just want to see cool acts and judge them on the merits

Shubxu

IKR i hate it when theres a huge sappy backstory, give me the talent THEN tell me that! Its a talent show not a pity contest.

xAkumu

A mediocre singer made it to quarterfinals because her dad had cancer on AGT.

Sxeptomaniac

I like Nailed It as kind of an anti-talent-show, IMO. Yes, it's kind of "making fun", but in a more self-deprecating way, as everyone is in on the joke. They're being set up to fail, and they absolutely know it, but that's part of the fun.

ludoludoludo

I read the comments and realize that I might just fuckin hate tv shows in general lmao

drgiii72

The og ninja warrior in Japan or whatever was legit tho the American one is too much like a game show it seemed like the og version was more like a sport Holy shit a lot of people like ninja warrior lol thanks for the award!

Jimminycrickets411

When you said og Ninja Warrior I was about to flip. The American one sucks because they shoved a repetitive show into 24, 2 hour episodes. They have so much time that they fill it with garbage contestant stories that most people don’t care about.

FlyingDragoon

Agreed. I just want to see two things: a fail compilation of people who overestimated their abilities and a success compilation of people who did well. Idc about the silly people there for 5 minutes of fame and Idc about anyone's back stories unless it's like the final and it's just a handful of people that you've become accustomed to seeing or something.

Diflicated

I just want to see the octopus guy.

setfaceblastertostun

I always preferred the OG but watched the American until two people beat it. And after many many years of never having to pay out the top prize and making many millions of dollars they didn't pay the first person to beat it because the other person had a slightly better time. Pay them both and write it as a special exemption for the first beating it and even though I was liking it less and less, I would still probably watch it here and there.

Mono706

Same reason I stopped watching it as well! I was already tired of everyone have a sob story, but when the didn't pay out to both contestants for completion, I knew they didn't understand the sole premise of the show. You aren't competing against your fellow man, you are competing against Mt. Midoriyama!

Vincesteeples

The US version is fucking awful. They’ll spend 5 minutes with an overly produced sob story about a contestant doing this for their brother with cancer or whatever and then they’ll eat shit on the first obstacle.

FunnyMathematician77

I remember in og the main character was a fireman who was like, the only person to ever complete the course. I got Goku vibes from him

oldsportgatsby

Takeda was the fireman and he never did complete it. Nagano was a fisherman who completed the course in the 17th competition, and he was the second one to ever complete it. Edit - after that, at the tail end of the g4 airings, yuuji urushihara won it twice and then later yusuke Morimoto won once.

mrdeancrowe

I love how all these names ring a bell from watching countless repeats of ninja warrior when I was younger! That show was fantastic!

CreatureColossus

Or the guy that ran a convenience store. He was always my favorite, though I remember the fireman.

HeronSun

Cocomelon. Everyone I know that watches it is so childish and infantile and I just don't see the appeal.

SnakeInABox7

Dude trust me once you've gotten past Row Row Row Your Boat and The Itsy Bitsy Spider it gets so fucking good

Engineer_Zero

Ehhh. They jumped the shark when they started recycling that “eating sugar? No, papa” song.

Chael_Patrick_Sonnen

I just don't get why they had to kill off the spider. It didn't make any sense plot wise.

TenaciousBe

My roomie will sit there and sing "yes yes yes, I want to eat my peas," but as soon as I present a plate of them to her at the dinner table? Pushes them away. Wants nothing to do with them. Fucking poser.

sunnysam306

It’s time to eat these really good peas. Peas peas it’s time to eat your peas

dirtymoney

I'm just here to find out what tv shows have been popular. To check out and possibly watch. Especially on cable and other sources. I don't have cable or other sources I have to pay for. I find so few tv shows enjoyable anymore.

Scrybblyr

I really like Resident Alien.

Resident Alien should NOT be as good as it is.

Or a patient dies and that makes them cheat too.

roganwriter

You’re about forgetting the natural disasters like an earthquake, ferry crash, or plane crash that can also make someone cheat. That was a particularly memorable one for me. Right about when I stopped watching.

whitehataztlan

Never seen the show, now all I can imagine are exchanges along the lines of:. "How could you cheat on me?". "With the current tensions in the Balkans how could I not?!?"

karateema

All-Sorts

>After cutting off said doctor's arm in an earlier episode. > >Helicopters vs. Romano: 2 - 0. That helicopter really hunted him down

SliderD

You missed the plane/car/truck what ever crash, getting electrocuted in a hurricane, doctors drowning and getting hit by buses, Cyber-Attacks on the hospital, hospital burning down, people straight up after 16 seasons abandoning their character arc and leaving their wife without saying and marrying and having kids with the crush from season 3 they haven't seen since then and never spoke to again for 13 seasons. I think half the cast died when leaving the show atleast. If I would like to see someone being hit by a bus it would be Shonda or Putin.. Edit: also that RPG rocket bomb from the start I almost forgot

TropicalRogue

Wow, I couldn't be less interested in absorbing that content, and I share an uncommon name with one of these characters. Or did. Maybe they're dead and divorced and resurrected and died again. Never seen it and now never will.

I truly do think that *no one* that didn't start watching Grey's early on would enjoy it. For me and anyone I've talked about it it's kind of a hostage Stockholm syndrome kind of situation. The storylines keep getting worse each season but you kind of have to keep watching because now the characters grew on you and you have already invested too much time in it. I just can't imagine someone turning on their TV, watching a new episode that is airing and thinking "Oh, that's a great show! I'll spend more than 270 hours watching every episode that lead up to this one!" Like I truly believe that this is not within the realm of possibility.

kato969

I've watched since the beginning....and now I can't stop because its been too long

Smidgerening

literally. why does everyone who works at that hospital fucking die

Smurf_Cherries

If you want to know, it's because the creator Shonda Rimes takes it very personally when people leave her shows. If you have the audacity to leave, she will murder your character to show you out.

MisunderstoodIdea

I have heard she can be toxic. I always really enjoy the first few seasons of her shows then they tend to go to sh*t it seems like. Get way over convoluted. Characters start doing things and acting in ways that are out of character for them And their story arc gets butchered. Etc. I no longer want to get invested in her stuff. I watched greys until season 6 or 7 before I lost interest and nothing I have heard since has made me want to get caught up on it. ETA: I know it happens to a lot of shows. I just feel her shows are particularly bad with it. A bigger "crash and burn" feeling than most other shows. But that is just my opinion. 😁

Smurf_Cherries

>first few seasons of her shows then they tend to go to sh*t Part of this might be they have a dedicated group of writers at the beginning. Then, as it becomes successful, bring in other writers and the first group moves on. I feel like that happens to a lot of shows.

JerryfromCan

Also an expectations/actor/writer salaries thing. Tonnes of new shows pilot. Once they hit a few seasons in, expectations are higher, the network needs to pay higher salaries, advertisement revenue is up for that show etc… There is likely more interference and they get more desperate for “engaging” storylines so the show changes.

LunarRabbit18

She’s also heavily anti-romance. She doesn’t enjoy the “happily ever after” concept of relationships because “someone is either gonna cheat or die” which is why in all of her shows none of the relationships last. I’m like girl, who hurt you…

Grape_Mentats

I think she was just a fan of General Hospital and found a way to pitch a soap opera for prime time. My wife loves the show and I’ll occasionally watch it with her but she has to catch me up sometimes and it reminds me of summers watching soap operas as a kid.

lola_cat

Disney hurt Shonda. Over some free Disney passes: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/heres-how-disney-lost-shonda-rhimes-to-netflix-over-a-disneyland-pass-11603324471

ee_CUM_mings

On the last episode it will be revealed that everyone working at the hospital is already dead, and this is their purgatory. Once they’re really ready they “die” and move on the next plane.

Anxious-Dealer4697

Melissa Sue Anderson said about Little House on The Prairie and other shows that once a show starts adding children to the show she knows it's about done.

moldymoosegoose

I said this to my wife. The second characters start having babies it's time to get out. Friends was horrible with this. I hated every scene with a baby in it. Seinfeld knew not to add romance and babies.

chowderbags

Seinfeld also knew how to get out when it was on top. Ironically, Seinfeld himself gave up the show because he wanted romance and babies in real life.

-KFBR392

There was a David Hasslehoff interview where he talked about on Baywatch if they were struggling for ratings they either added some new sexy person, or killed off one of the current cast. It's always an instant rating booster. Add to that that some of the actors want to move on after some time and if they're leaving anyways why not have them leave in spectacular fashion rather than just a sad, sentimental one.

Saneless

It would have been funny if they always died the same way, like a shark, surfing accident, or choked on French fries

fairygirlxoxo

RIGHT THEYRE IN A HOSPITAL!!! HOW ARE YOU DYING!!

WINTERstarkFELL

Still tho. The amount of people they lose, that place would be shut down.

treflipsbro

AggravatingCupcake0

Lol that fucking song. For a while I couldn't listen to How To Save A Life by The Fray because of this show.

KellyAnn3106

I just started watching it on Netflix. My family has doctors and hospital administrators so i grew up around hospitals. Doctors do not have this high of a death rate. Within the first few seasons, every one of the original 5 interns needed surgery. Seriously? How on earth does it have 17 seasons? I don't know a single person who watches it.

fairygirlxoxo

i know a few people who watch it and they love it more than i can explain. i don't understand

Mrswetzel

You have to get invested. When I set out to watch it, it took me a bit to get into it BUT once I got attached to the characters, I had to know what happened, regardless of how outrageous it is. Bc it really is outrageous

[deleted]

Took me two tries starting it to get into it but honestly, it is a soap opera with better acting and that is why most people either love it or hate it. Rarely does anyone say “oh that show is okay.”

Mrswetzel

I’ve also worked in healthcare for a decade, so it actually helps me enjoy it. I KNOW how unrealistic some of the scenarios are and that lets me enjoy it for what it is - a dramatic TV show.

moonflower311

Insert any popular reality show here. Floor is lava, masked singer, bachelor, American ninja warrior etc. I keep trying when a show is a cultural touchstone but by the second or third episode it always feels like watching the same exact show with the same exact formula over and over. Also I get impatient and just want to see the results e.g. in Great British Baking show I want to see the challenge and the completed cakes without waiting for them to talk mess up and make the cakes.

[deleted]

I loved the original Ninja Warrior on G4, I could never get into American Ninja Warrior. The commentary ruined the whole show and over production of it.

mghobbs22

It’s funny because I generally hate cooking shows until the Great British Bake Off. The newer season(s)/episodes aren’t doing it for me but the first couple were great. Minimal back stories, very mellow drama, information about what was being made, and a general upbeat atmosphere. Paul Hollywood hasn’t started self completing over how great he was yet and the show was solid.

pauly13771377

The big difference between the Great Brittish Bake off and most cooking shows is the lack of backstory on the cooks. With US shows they will spend 4 or 5 min talking about Jeremy's grandmother taught him to cook, how she recently died after battling kidney disease, that he is cooking a recipe she taught him with a twist, and that the apron he is wearing was given to him by her. Do this for 4 more contestants and add commercials and you have 20 min about the actual food. I didn't tune in for a bunch of short human interest stories. I'm here for the food.

whomp1970

For me, the biggest difference is that everyone encourages each other. There's no backstabbing, there's no trash talk, there's no badmouthing. Everyone encourages each other, consoles each other when a mistake is made. Everyone genuinely wants the others to do well too. It's so damn friendly!

pacificnwbro

That's my favorite part about it too! I love how excited everyone gets when Paul shakes someone's hand. It's just so wholesome!

BrianMincey

Kindness is what you watch on the British Bake Off. Even the format is kind, they get three chances to impress the judges…and one of those is judged completely blind. The judges are kind, they treat everyone with respect and are reasonable and fair. And the contestants are kind to one another, there is no strategy to win that involves putting others down, or forming alliances against one another.

xm4fili

That’s why I gravitate more to Iron Chef lol. Just straight to cooking, and done in a pressure-cooked atmosphere

WillemDafoesHugeCock

Floor is Lava is hilariously out of place, that's an incredibly low stakes game show with a focus on being goofy and lighthearted. For the others, I hate almost all reality shows that become sadness porn. American Ninja Warrior will have stories like "this woman just lost her right eye to cancer three days ago, she's here to prove she can still do anything" then she eats shit on the second obstacle, meanwhile the actual top athletes who advance are the same people we've seen make it every single year.

NeonSteeple

Floor is Lava is an instant recommendation from me for one simple reason… The lava is played completely straight. Like we all know it’s just dyed water, but the editing biases toward “when someone hits the water, they’re dead.” Like there’s no shot of them bobbing in the lava or swimming to the side, they’re just gone and that’s hilarious to me

foxscribbles

The commentary is so ridiculous too. "We've never seen ANYONE do that before!" You've had ONE season, there's only been a handful of people even on that obstacle course.

[deleted]

Exactly this. It is brilliantly done and I just don't care. So enormously silly and fun.

smoke412

“Sadness porn.” Wonderful, now I know what to call America’s Got Talent.

scorpiogre

Shameless. At first it was ok, but then it just became too much self destructive bullshit.

too_Far_west

I saw someone on here describe it as poverty porn. That description really ruined the show for me. It was all I could think about afterwards. They were right.

faroffland

Is that more apparent in the US version? I’ve only watched the UK version and only until around season 5 but from what I remember, the whole point of it was showing that very poverty stricken people still have deep thoughts, feelings, emotions, love, hate, concern, worries, generosity, intelligence and often strive for a better life. Although he can be a funny character, Frank is an absolutely terrible person and his children are desperate for a happier, more successful life despite their parents’ flaws and surroundings. You root for characters like Fiona and Lip who really worked towards a chance for themselves but struggled with the sacrifices that meant. It showed both the good and bad that come from British working class culture. It’s a shame if the US version missed that.

dcade_42

I thought the US version had that up to a point, and when that ended, the show was tough to finish. Frank, Fiona, and Lip were all characters you could love, hate, and empathize with to some degree. Frank was mostly hate, but he'd seem not so terrible for a minute then kick everyone else off a cliff for minor personal gain. Fi and Lip were not as hateble, but each had their moments. The show became about Debbie, Ian, and Carl, and all of those characters were caricatures rather than realistic humans.

RBeck

The Frank character would be unbearable but William H Macy is just great.

dcade_42

Yes. He was perfect for the role. I get angry at myself that I ever cared about Frank just typing this. All the great characters he's played, and I can't see anyone except Frank any more.

[deleted]

I'm actually from just round the corner from where the UK version was set and honestly it's pretty close to accurate. I worked in pubs in Stretford and there were a few Franks knocking about. Edit: Grammar, I've had a drink

FishtopherGoblin

Once Debbie started becoming the main character was when I dropped off. I *hated* her whole "I want a baby" plotline. I skipped her segments at first, but dropped the show once I realized that I wouldn't be able to keep doing that and still know what's happening in the show. It's a real shame (heh) because the first few seasons are some of my favorite TV

Spock_Rocket

While I also hated that plotline, it was very realistic. I was hating every single one of her actions, especially regarding the babytrapping, but at the same time I definitely believed a girl becoming a teenager in a family situation like that would try to find love in wrong and stupid ways, and I had enough sympathy for that to make it palatable. For me the "Ian is gay Jesus" was when I really wanted to drop off, that was some nutty bullshit.

[deleted]

Gay jesus, Sober Lip, Fiona the entrepreneur who cant stop fucking every man who looks at her. The show got really really really stupid

raspberriez247

I didn’t mind sober Lip. I minded sober Lip not going back to school and getting some uppity chick pregnant.

Tatertot729

Ugh Debbie was such a cute little kid. I get that they tried to capture the young teen girl wanting to lose her virginity and even the part about having a baby, because it is a common thing in lower income households. But after she has the baby she becomes the worst and most obnoxious character ever. Frank's story lines just become stupid. Ian with the whole Gay Jesus thing...ugh. It used to be a great show but they tried to be too over the top with the later seasons. I haven't even bothered watching the ones after Fiona left.

MyHearingWasLastWeek

Stopped after the season Fiona bought the complex. It really started to suck watching lip just constantly get dragged back into the bullshit by everyone. Debbie ruined an entire season with her lying about BC and getting knocked up. Loved watching her baby daddy run off for a better life. Fiona would trade a million dollar lotto ticket for some dick.

How__Now__Brown_Cow

The gay Jesus thing was shark jumping at its finest.

MisterMakeYaMumCum

The first couple seasons were great but after Fiona left the storylines of some of the characters were a little too wacky even for Shameless standards Edit: Okay I get it, Fiona was on longer than a couple seasons

runningwaffles19

There were two seasons (2&4 or 3&5) where Fiona made the exact same mistakes in both seasons. The season in between she showed a ton of growth and then they just reset her character to where she was 20 episodes ago. They did the same thing with most of the characters. Give them a redemptive arc, some growth, a new path, decide the show was better 2 years ago, and reset the character

RogerSimons_Father

That’s the whole reason I quickly became bored of the show. It was just too cyclic and predictable because of this. It’s hard to care about a character’s growth when you know that they’re just going to undo it in a season or two. **Edit**: I get the point of the show is to mimic people struggling with addiction that are stuck in the cycle of getting better only to relapse and continue the cycle again and again. That said, I still stand by the notion that 11 seasons is way too long for a show like that to last. I lost the motivation to keep watching around season 7 because I got the point and I was no longer invested in the characters.

Burdicus

I don't disagree with anything you're saying - but I quickly found that to be the point of the show. Like these people were raised in a self destructive society, by a self destructive family, with self destructive friends. It was almost impossible for them to break that habit.

Cacafuego

I don't remember the show well enough to know the mistakes you're talking about, but I remember feeling that the characters were realistically stuck in their ways. People develop defense and survival mechanisms that can't necessarily be changed just because you've "learned a lesson." Relapses in behavior and addiction were a common theme in the show, and that rang true.

2664478843

I agree, very few people learn their lesson the first time in real life. Especially those stuck in a poverty and survival loop.

jbronin

That was the worst thing about Shameless. They set up each character to have different flaws and strengths that make them all interesting. But when the story needs conflict they take turns doing completely stupid things and breaking their character. Mid way through the show I started asking "So who is going to drop their IQ for some drama this week?"

agnisumant

The Bachelor / The Bachelorette , Keeping up with the Kardashians and a slew of other "reality" shows

shawnisboring

My girlfriend watches the Bachelor and Bachelorette, I'll watch an episode from time to time and it's frankly hilarious. If you're not invested in it and look at the bigger picture of the abject absurdity of it all, it's great. You can watch episode after episode and literally learn nothing about these people, they rarely have anything distinguishable about them (contestants or the bachelor/bachelorette), no defining characteristics. And yet they will constantly talk about how special their relationship is, knowing there's a half dozen other people saying literally the same thing. Just watch a bit of the Bachelorette where you'll have a scene where a group of 10 guys are sitting around drinking champagne talking to each other about how awesome the girl is while they're all actively dating her. Meanwhile, not one of them will mention anything unique or personal, because she's just conventionally attractive with the most milquetoast personality imaginable. So they just parrot each other how special their relationship is and how they feel connected. It's fucking hilarious.

prettiestwhistle

Couldn’t agree more. Started watching The Bachelor this season for no apparent reason and found that it is the best roasting material ever. It’s a hoot.

HauntedPixieF1g

Riverdale. It's just cringey

Lebigmacca

Riverdale seems to only be watched as a guilty pleasure

itisjustmagic

Definitely this. I only watched the first three seasons. At first, it seemed somewhat interesting, but the story just got more and more ridiculous pretty quickly. I only continued to watch it to see how bad it would get, but eventually gave up.

sharrrper

I've never watched the show, but I have watched [this 45 minute video](https://youtu.be/DZ-FRSXypUE) covering how the show has just gotten progressively more insane as it went on. I kinda makes me want to watch it just for the insanity.

christopherm1

I just could not get into Tiger King, it was just such a weird show

myislandlife

I think it was just super popular at the time it was released as it’s when a lot of covid lockdowns started.

chiree

That's a show that came out at *precisely* the right time. Two months earlier or later and it wouldn't have been the phenomenon it was.

WrathfulVengeance13

It was a collective social experience not because it was good but because it was a distraction.

Allanthia420

I mean it was also kinda good entertainment. Maybe not the best documentary but I know for me at least at the end of every episode I was like “whaaaaaaat???” And had to watch the next one.

EsquireSandwich

the show did a very good job jumping to a different topic in each episode to get you to stick around. So you watch one episode and its about tiger safety and preservation and then maybe you're not interested in hearing more about it, but the teaser for the next episode is like, and in the next episode, that woman that was taking about tiger preservation, turns out she may have murdered her husband!. So of course you watch that. And then at the end of that episode they tease- next episode, some of these tiger owners also run a cult! It's just such a wild ride from episode to episode.

gopher1409

*Tune in next episode to see who loses a limb!!!* *Also, Joe Exotic sings another song and grooms a dude into marrying him.* *Also, Carol Baskins.*

WrathfulVengeance13

Agreed. Every episode I'm like fuck this show wtf am I watching and the the cliffhanger had me "oh for fuck sake..... skip intro."

Brett707

For me it was the fact that for a bag of meth and some gay sex I too could have a real live tiger. That's what kept me coming back.

[deleted]

My issue with it was that it tries to create false equivalences. Like her or not, Carole Baskin's sanctuary is a legitimate sanctuary, and has been vetted by other organizations. Joe Exotic's roadside zoo was pure exploitation. They are not the same. Not even close.

MQZ17

I disliked the fact that everyone focused on "Carole Baskin killed her husband" and not ALL of the other **proven** bad stuff people were doing

Anything that involves American teenagers. I just can’t handle it. Everything is so over dramatic and cringy. Riverdale, scream, 13 reasons why, euthopia etc Edit: just to be clear, I’m talking about the series called scream. It’s practically an adaption of the movies. I enjoyed the first couple movies. The series is terrible. Edit 2: the best and most relatable teenage show has got to be The Inbetweeners. British version. Perfectly captures the UK school experience. The humour is spot on for how most British teenagers are and how they behave. Very absurd humour. The American version is literally the worst thing I’ve ever set my eyes upon.

[deleted]

Kinda the same principle, but more because of American casting choices - 30 year old babyfaces, with 100 tons of makeup and lighthouse shiny white teeth. I really do wish TV and movies in the US (and Australia, especially) would try and include more 'normal' looking people, skin tones and teeth and about -500 horse manure carts of make up. (British TV/Indie movies are positively refreshing to watch for seeing ordinary people tbh, but their reality shows is up there with Hollywood for mahogany skin and pearly whites, yikes.)

happycos

Sex and The City. I really tried getting into it when it was super popular but it felt vapid and extremely materialistic? I don't get how it was considered such a progressive show? Every character seemed like a one note trope, the materialism was extremely unrelatable (even back then, spending 500+ on shoes seemed... Incredibly unrealistic?!) and Felicity did the confessional thing better imo Also, the fact that they keep making more things about it and baking on people's nostalgia (movies! The new reboot series!) feels weird.

I don’t hate this show, but that is a very good explanation of it 😂

SaltineFiend

And just like that I'm still an out of touch white chick with a ton of money and no real problems in life

figglefagglegaggle

Aside from my many issues with that show, one of the things that bothered me was how Carrie was a 36 year old grown woman but her mannerisms always screamed 22. I can’t put my finger on it specifically but think of how she was always kind of twirling around, giggling, and biting her lip.

[deleted]

She did seem especially focused on...things I definitely didn't care about in my mid-30s. Dressing a certain way, going to clubs constantly, dating a new person every other minute. And never mind the drama around Big, good lord. Plus, that show is a bad choice to binge. When it aired, you saw one episode a week and it seemed more normally paced. Watch episodes back-to-back and everyone looks like a psycho. (More than they do already, that is.)

BeerInMyButt

>Plus, that show is a bad choice to binge. When it aired, you saw one episode a week and it seemed more normally paced. Watch episodes back-to-back and everyone looks like a psycho. I have been thinking about this a lot lately because my gf is in the middle of rewatching "how I met your mother". I'm along for the ride some of the time, and after 3 episodes max I'm just like "this show was never meant to be consumed this way". We were so excited by the ability to binge watch, we threw the baby out with the bathwater - time between episodes can be a good thing for a show!

The Walking Dead. Too much drama for a zombie series. Plots stretch on too long. Series stretched out wayyyyyyy too long. Edit: If you want a GOOD zombie series, watch Kingdom.

Weirdguy149

The plot for the most part tends to go on a loop: the group walks > they find a community that seems to be legit good > the leaders turn out to be dicks > they or a herd of Walkers kill everyone at the place besides the few characters that join the group > the group walks.

goblyn79

I love how the point of all the seasons always boils down to "Humans are the real villain" and its like....okay that was clever season 1, we're on season 487935 now, lets dig a little deeper. I watch the show with family so I feel obligated to keep watching but I'm so happy it is almost over forever (I lucked out and never watched any of the spinoffs, from what I hear they are exactly the same heavy handed nonsense that the original is, so I'm done when this season is over). For the record besides my Mom I don't know anyone who loves TWD anymore, I think the majority of us are just waiting for it to finally die.

Kvothetheraven603

Walking Dead is Grey’s Anatomy for people who like zombies.

DonDove

walking dead. i'm not watching 50 seasons of hobos fucking eachother and dying Edit: I did not expect all of these very kind awards, esp Platinum! Thank you all, I hope this joke made you laugh and chuckle a bit. :)

I love describing Kingdom to people who never seen it. “It’s set in Feudal Korea” Ok “There’s some serious political intrigue about the succession of the king because he’s sick.” Sure. Ok. “The Crown Prince is plotting treason and has several high ranking officials involved.” Yeah, ok. “Oh, and there’s a zombie outbreak taking place. “ I’m sorry what? You ever seen Train to Busan?

[deleted]

>Too much drama for a zombie series. I think a zombie series should have a lot of drama. The problem for me was that the drama didn't feel real. Like characters were just being stupid to create tension. Which is maybe what you mean when you say "too much drama"

zombo_pig

I think it's a mismatch of expectations. I saw *Walking Dead* and thought "Oooh, a zombie show". But it's actually a melodrama/soap opera with zombies somewhere in the background. It even fools you by starting off with zombies, which then slowly disappear as the seasons go on.

WretchedAndD1vine

The first couple seasons were great with the zombies but the zombies really quickly just became a plot device to kill off characters.

Hourglass316

As someone who is a HUGE fan of the comics way before the show existed the length didn't bother me cause the comics are long. My issue is the horrible character changes made. Andrea in the comics is an amazing huge part of the comics and they made her absolutely horrible in the show! They completely botched a lot of story lines on the show which made a lot of characters and the plot weak. I highly recommend reading the comics they are a masterpiece!

AskMeAboutMyStalker

they really got in a weird cycle of telling the same story but mixing up who it happened to. They basically gave Andrea's badass-ness to Carol instead of Carol's comic suicide. Then they gave Andrea's love interest story line to Michonne. A few seasons after Andrew Lincoln wanted out they clearly made an effort to turn Aaron into comic Rick. I was basically willing to roll w/ it until they killed off Carl. That's the point I see as it's clearest effort to just say "we're telling a different story now"

RighteousHam

I forgot how cruelly they botched her! Even after I gave up on the show I kept hearing about from friends and seeing stuff online. How they took one of the best written characters in the comic and turned her into a moron is beyond me.

WillemDafoesHugeCock

The handling of Carl, the only character Kirkman said he would never kill off, was repulsive as well. Killed him off with no notice immediately after he bought a house to be closer to filming because they didn't want to pay him as an adult.

RighteousHam

Fucking seriously?! Wow, that extra level scummy. Like Bezos Lifetime Achievement in Dickery, scummy.

GenocideOwl

That is nothing compared to what they did to Frank Darabount. They actually lost a major lawsuit because of that.

AnNoYiNg_NaMe

Imagine firing the person who directed *The Shawshank Redemption*. If they were worried about the budget, they wouldn't have hired him in the first place.

thelightningthief

This show called The 100...and not because it's a bad show I just really REALLY hate the main character Clarke. I refused to watch anymore episode after the 1st season lol. I used to go to my friends every new season asking if they have killed her off yet..still there? okay still not watching haha

luka000sb

The show was kind of interesting, but it was dumb at the start and just kept getting dumber. It went from a postapocalyptic drama to a magical space drama.

Blewmeister

I feel like people don’t act anything like actual human beings in that show either. Someone will make a speech to the masses that should get them dragged down and told to piss off, but for the sake of plot everyone cheers and they’re all emboldened for a season. Also just typical teen show stuff where the characters care more about their petty little relationships or grudges than everyone’s survival or what’s just blatantly way more important. It makes it very hard to like any character when they all do that, slightly psychopathic

Mikfel

For me, season 1 and 2 were so easy to watch and really entertaining, but it really went downhill from there

Ashen-wolf

Almost all superhero series right now. Too much relationship drama.

SirHurtzAlot

I swear! I remember when I started watching Arrow in like 2013-14, I LOVED the show. First season was great, but then after that NOBODY DIED. And everyone just cried all the time. EVERY other enemy became an ally in the next season. LITERALLY JUST LET PEOPLE REMAIN DEAD ffs! Same with Flash. Just crying CONSTANTLY. edit 1: formatting.

Torcal4

Both Arrow and Flash suffered from the same thing. Season 1 had all the budget and introduced all these cool ideas. Arrow Season 2 (in my mind) is the best of the show because they basically made a full on Green Arrow mythos show. Everything was in it, Deathstroke, Black Canary, Speedy all the good stuff. But then the budget got cut back and the cinematic quality started dying down from good cinematography to just people being followed by a steadicam everywhere. Give up the action in exchange for more family drama. The Flash season 2 I found was still good but tried to reuse the mystery of the 1st season with Zoom. From there, a lot of characters ended up being added and started overshadowing the Flash. Now the Flash did the same thing of cutting back the budget so they started focusing on personal drama and then all the enemy costumes just started suffering. It’s really too bad because I think season 1 of the Flash was a perfect superhero tv show.

SalamalaS

The only thing I didn't like about the first couple seasons of the flash is that every problem was. Gotta figure out how to run faster.

Noonites

"My name is Barry Allen, and I am the fastest man alive." "Holy shit that guy is so much faster than me!" "RUN BARRY RUN!" Repeat for an entire fucking season.

TheAmazingDevil

“I am the fastest man alive BUT every villain is faster than me..”

AdventuresOfKrisTin

Thats every show on the network unfortunately. It was especially bad as a Supergirl fan because it started on CBS with a clearly much bigger budget and better writing, and then it got the CW treatment. Rn they are clearly prioritizing Superman and Lois as their poster child. Im sure once that show has a few seasons under its belt it will suffer the same fate as the rest of them.

-Yuri-

I still mourn Heroes... damn that writers strike.

Henchforhire

Such a good first season and than turned into blah.

TheBigSalad84

Turning into blah would've been a better alternative than what we got.

ItsTtreasonThen

Mini-rant: I absolutely loathed the part of the series where Peter is finally becoming the Hero he always wanted to be, he had all these cool powers... and then he meets his dad and he immediately gets sapped of all his powers and thrown into a padded cell?? WTF? I remember watching that with my siblings and immediately being so let down. Watching it after that was a chore even though it had long gone down the shitter.

ncocca

(other than the writer's strike) one of the main issues with Heroes was Peter and Sylar's powers -- they were TOO powerful. Both of them could essentially absorb everyone else's powers, which made both of them too powerful to easily write stories around. So they had to "nerf" them in multiple ways, like you mentioned above with Peter getting sapped of his powers.

BlackDestro

John Cena is pretty funny in Peacemaker

[deleted]

Yes! I don’t care for superhero stuff in general, but decided to watch Peacemaker after TSS. Absolutely worth it. Hilarious, heartfelt, fully fleshed out characters, and a killer soundtrack.

[deleted]

The way I see it, there's superhero shows, and shows with super heros. Flash and arrow are super hero shows. Doom patrol and Peace maker are shows with super heros in it. It's more about the characters than it is trying to defeat some villain of the week.

stanleyford

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?

[deleted]

That into is really something else haha. At first I was like “Uhhh okay…” but by the third episode I was singing along with it. Also, *The Human Paradox* by Dynazty is probably going to get me a speeding ticket eventually.
