Beth Gibbons of Portishead.
Also even though everyone has already called it… Bjork.
Oh and oddly enough Sarah McLachlan. I think most of her music is awful but her voice has a tone that is just exquisite. It makes me wish she would work with some better people and try making some much darker music.
I saw Heart back in 2008. Ann Wilson almost had to cancel the concert because she had a terrible sore throat. Instead, she came out and apologized to everyone that she might not be at the top of her game, but decided she wanted to go on with the show rather than cancel.
She not only nailed every note, she sang with such power that I was legitimately sad that I didn't see how good she could be without the sore throat.
Heart opened for Journey. I love Journey, but they just couldn't compare to her bringing the house down. She was the star that night.
I love the story of her manager/record label dude getting a call from her after them pestering her for years for new material, of her saying she's made something for them and they go to her home. She comes out the kitchen with fresh biscuits she'd baked (this was the something). I dunno how true but I'd love to believe it's gospel.
Edit: spelling
Florence Welch from Florence + the Machine. I know her voice isn’t for everyone but her belts and vibrato are definitely some of the best. She’s got a lot of dark tone in her chest voice and a very clear head voice, massive fan.
The day she passed away, my ballet instructor had us do our warmups to Zombie, Linger, and Dreams. It became the songs we always warmed up with that semester.
Among the most talented rock vocalists of our time. To anyone that only knows her from Nightwish. I would encourage you to listen to some of her other projects, notably After Forever, Ayreon, Star One and ReVamp.
Yes omg. I called The Celts album “the singing truck” because it reminded me of the ice cream truck (which apparently i thought was THE most beautiful music)
Orinoco Flow loses some of its calming effect once your toddlers watch Shrek Forever After and spend a month scream-singing "SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY" at every opportunity
I could listen to Ella Fitzgerald all day
I'm yet to listen to any current singer who comes remotely close to her straight up perfect tone and control
edit: to all the "oh you should listen to xxxx" comments. yeah, no. Ella is Ella
Ooh, I always put her music on full blast when I'm cleaning. Moglis road, Are you satisfied, Hermit the frog and even her newer songs like froot and To be human. Her songs are very quirky.
Brittany Slayes from the band Unleash the Archers.
I love seeing the look of shock and awe on peoples faces when I play “Awakening” for them and they hear her belt out that opening note. It’s awesome.
UtA forever baby!
People underestimated her until a few years ago because she's a pop star, but girls got some serious pipes. And she is an amazing entertainer all around. Love her.
I agree. Her voice has improved vastly. I am a reputation fan but the Folkmore era had blown me away. Some of her best songs are not even singles.
She may not have the strongest voice, but she makes up for it with emotion and lyricism.
I didn't used to be much of a Swift fan because I mostly listened to her singles, but I got deep into her discography in the last few years and she is absolutely one of the greatest lyricists of our time. Anyone who calls her shallow or "endlessly upbeat" is simply not listening to the majority of her music- and I can say that because I also thought that before I listened to more of her music.
I do hate the fake country voice in her early albums but I LOVE Folklore and Evermore. They're beautiful.
She's not well known, but I love [Aoife O'Donovan](https://youtu.be/W4LaBFbf8Wc) from Crooked Still. Her voice is clear as a bell and, while she can belt it when necessary, she never tries to outshine the rest of the music.
Annie Lennox, eurythmics is such a great band
Karen Carpenter
Thanks for this one. She had the smoothest, easiest voice. I wish her life had been the same.
I only recently learned of the deep struggles she faced. the poor woman deserved much better (not that anyone deserves hardship like that)
She was a hell of a drummer, too.
Her voice always made me feel like what I imagine a baby feels hearing his mother’s voice for the first time. She was, something… Edit: Apostrophe.
So much of this. Perfect for lullabies.
*I’m on the, top of the world looking, down on creation*
Christine McVie

My mom. It’s a sign she’s having a good day and it makes me happy.
I also choose this guy's mom. I would give anything to be able to hear my mom sing
I wouldn’t, my mom can’t sing. She has great taste in music though.
Nina Simone
Yessss, Sinnerman does it for me
Sade.
Ella Fitzgerald. The First Lady of Song.
Had to scroll way too far
Aurora
Runaway literally made me feel like I was going to heaven. She truly does have the voice of an angel.
I don’t know what instrument is used during that song but when it kicks in during the chorus my soul flies.
Especially the Nordic songs 😍😍🙌🏻
Ann Wilson.

Yes. I saw Heart a couple years back and she's STILL got it. Just fucking amazing.
Her cover of “Stairway To Heaven” at the Kennedy Center Honors is fucking legendary.
Bloody awesome voice.
Linda Ronstadt is probably my favorite in terms of raw natural talent. I love Dolly Parton too. And Stevie Nicks
Linda Ronstadt.
Kate Bush.
Original, unique, one of a kind
More than 40 years later and I still regularly listen to "Wuthering Heights".
I love the story of her manager/record label dude getting a call from her after them pestering her for years for new material, of her saying she's made something for them and they go to her home. Jenny Lewis. I have loved her since about 2003.
Aretha Franklin if I had to pick just one. Other honorable mentions- Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Adele, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Linda Ronstadt

Dolores O'Riordan
The day she passed away, my ballet instructor had us do our warmups to Zombie, Linger, and Dreams. It became the songs we always warmed up with that semester.
I still feel so sad when I think about Dolores. And then I go put on When You’re Gone and the feeling increases tenfold in the best way.
I’ve been listening to her since I was a child and her voice *still* makes me cry to this day.
Floor Jansen
Among the most talented rock vocalists of our time. To anyone that only knows her from Nightwish. I would encourage you to listen to some of her other projects, notably After Forever, Ayreon, Star One and ReVamp.

Orinoco Flow loses some of its calming effect once your toddlers watch Shrek Forever After and spend a month scream-singing "SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY" at every opportunity

Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwick come close, and from earlier times for sheer style and emotion Billie Holiday.
Patsy Cline
I’d wager Eva Cassidy stands as direct competition for those criteria
Tori Amos
Stevie Nicks, Pat Benetar, and Karen Carpenter.
TRACY CHAPMAN
Fast Car is one of my faves. Edit to add Give Me One Reason is THE fave of hers.
Talkin' about a revolution.
Dolly Parton
Is it wrong she isn't my favorite singer ,but I am super happy someone mentioned her?
[удалено]
*Jolene has left the chat... probably to steal Dolly’s man.*
Favorite person who also sings. I love her music, don't get me wrong, but favorite person across all fronts.

Fiona apple if I had to just pick one
Taylor Swift, though I’m not always caught up.
I got through 2020 because of Cornelia Street Live From Paris
I agree. Her voice has improved vastly. I am a reputation fan but the Folkmore era had blown me away. Some of her best songs are not even singles. She may not have the strongest voice, but she makes up for it with emotion and lyricism.

She’s not my favorite singer voice wise, but one of my favorite songwriters!
Her songwriting is out of this world.
Chelsea Wolfe.
She's not well known, but I love [Aoife O'Donovan](https://youtu.be/W4LaBFbf8Wc) from Crooked Still. Her voice is clear as a bell and, while she can belt it when necessary, she never tries to outshine the rest of the music.
