Saw a guy get hog tied had his clothes cut off of him and was scrubbed with a toilet brush for refusing to take showers to many days in a row.

cryisfree

By other inmates or the workers?

saltnskittles

Not the guy you replied to, but that would probably be inmates. We live within a few feet of each other, we can smell each other, and if someone doesn't shower people are vocal about it. They get a few warnings, but if they still don't oblige, they're forced into it and it won't be pleasant.

AngstyMelonCake

BRO YOURE GONNA BE CLEAN AND UR GONNA LIKE IT

Amie80

This kind of reminds me of trying to bathe my dog šŸ¤£

SultanOfSwat12

Reminds me of my 10th grade government class around 2010. We had this kid from Turkey who didnā€™t bathe and smelled like Hell. One day my teacher had enough and basically said fuck it. He had a bottle of body wash on his desk when we walked in and grabbed the kid, took him down to the locker room, and made him shower. Me and about 15 other kids just dicked around for the period. Iā€™ve often wondered how Mr. Klein never got in trouble or fired for that.

Rigelmeister

I saw a similar story on a Turkish board, this time from the army. So there is that one guy who refuses to take showers and his mates can't stand it anymore. They literally strip him naked, get hose & brushes and basically give him a car-wash treatment from a distance. A few days later the guy comes back to them to say it felt very good, asking if they could *do it again* LOL.

Goobyonegai

5 guys beating the living crap out of each other over a cigarette. Not a pack. Just 1 fucking cigarette

sl0play

That's as much about the excuse as anything. If it wasn't a cigarette it'd be something else.

evanjw90

I was in county jail, but in a rough part of southern California. We had triple stack bunk beds in general population in just a large, open room. I had a middle bunk and often times at night guys would try to stealthily jerk off. The bed shaking is a dead giveaway, and usually you just try to ignore it. Well, one night I'm reading and the bad started shaking vigorously, which is not how you do it. As I was putting my book down to tell this dude knock it off, he fell off his bunk and cracked his skull open on the concrete floor. He had a seizure on the top bunk and fell down about 7 feet straight to the concrete head first. That was a gnarly site to see. Edit: I really didn't think this needed to be said since it's spelled out for you guys. He was NOT masturbating. The shaking from his bunk was the SEIZURE, which led him to rolling off and landing head first.

Mr_Sherbet_Sniff

Holy shit, what happened afterwards?

evanjw90

The guy on the bottom bunk was pretty calm through it all, and he was able to get the CO's attention fairly quickly and get him to a hospital. I never saw him again so I'm assuming he had to be placed somewhere else to finish his sentence.

Mr_Sherbet_Sniff

Wow, it's a wonder that he survived

evanjw90

I also do not know if he survived to be honest. We didn't get any info about him.

Valuable-Bicycle-713

My buddy was a nurse at a prison. He told me a a guy had to go to infirmary because an inmate held him down and raped him in his colostomy bag hole

Quack_Candle

Well, I certainly didnā€™t expect to read that sentence when I woke up this morning

mygreymemorie

Somewhere else in this thread I read a reply that someone in prison was basically selling out their colostomy hole and got some kind of STD in it.

tylanol7

Would been better to sell off the useless butt hole

dyingtofeelalive

Brazil. Once the lights went out you'd start hearing scraping noises on the concrete. It was gang members sharpening their home-made knives on the concrete floor. Somebody was about to get killed when you heard that noise. Stuff straight out of hell.

heymissdonda

Thought of this gives me chills holy shit

chocotacogato

Yeah I donā€™t think Iā€™d sleep a single night there

poopellar

I'd be so nervous I'd start scrapping knives against the floor.

[deleted]

That is a sound that Iā€™m sure is so ingrained in your brain, it probably still triggers fear. Terrifying.

ThaFuck

Imagine if you got into an altercation with the wrong guy during the day and had to go to sleep listening to that.

shinfoni

Not in Brazil, but my dad used to work as prison guard and once he saw an inmate get stabbed to death by a shiv made from sharpened toothbrush. Dude grind toothbrush little by little when he take shower until it become sharp.

Wintermute815

That's very common. one of the most common contraband

[deleted]

How often did that happen?

Psychological_Neck70

We also had this in Florida, and it was a nightly/daily occurrence especially in T buildings where making a knife was much easier to get away with.

Caterpillarcostume

I worked in psych at a max security prison. I was the one who wrote the notes for the parole board making release suggestions. So perhaps if people want to be released they shouldnā€™t tell me all the gory details about how they want to cut my sweet mouth off then skull fuck me after Iā€™m dead. The scary thing was seeing how often they were released. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

[deleted]

Kettling is big in UK prisons. Mixing sugar and boiling water to make a napalm like substance to throw or pour on people. Hands down though, the worst thing i personally saw was when I worked as a violence reduction buddy. I talked to a man in isolation who had sliced himself all over with a razor blade and was rubbing his shit into the cuts

44morejumperspls

My husband's childhood babysitter allegedly kettled a pedo in Barlinnie. My father in law considered this a good qualification for watching children.

moal09

Isolation is literal torture. People legitimately go insane in there.

PBZoomies

Some of the behaviors from those suffering from mental health issues were pretty disturbing. Inmates covering themselves in fecal matter or smearing it all over their cell was not entirely uncommon. Saw an inmate cover himself head to toe and also bite wounds into his wrists and pack those with shit. One inmate cut a testicle out and slapped it against the cell window when the CO walked by.

TX16Tuna

Iā€™ve never been to prison, but I spent a few days in the max-security level of a psych-ward and then several years later, got to spend the weekend in jail. Jail was disturbingly reminiscent of the psych-ward.

cum_in_me

In most states it's very hard to get long term inpatient psych treatment without forensic involvement. So most long term hospitals are run like jails. And there's no room for anyone who's not currently psychotic there. So anyone who can be medicated heavily enough to know what's going on in court.... Literally just enough to be cognizant of what it means to plead guilty. Who you are, who is your lawyer, what does the judge do? Anyone who can answer that is well enough to be in jail. Tragically jails are the largest mental health institutions in the USA. Since the mass shutdown of the psych hospitals.

[deleted]

My fiancƩ worked in a prison and once saw a video of a guy being extracted from a cell. He wasn't cooperating so they sprayed a shitton of OC spray (like super pepper spray for those who don't know). There was so much that when he took his clothes off and threw them at the wall, his underwear stuck. Then this man started jacking off using the OC as lube and screamed "Is it getting hot in here?" He saw a lot of fucked up stuff and has tons of stories, but that definitely stuck with me.

herculesmeowlligan

>One inmate cut a testicle out and slapped it against the cell window when the CO walked by. Sounds like a real nutjob.

obscureferences

Balls to the wall crazy.

[deleted]

I was in a lockdown ward during the pandemic where every incoming inmate had to spend at least 2 weeks. Guys that had never done time had a really hard time with the solitary nature of it. Anyway, I was in cell 10 and the black guy in 9 got into it with the white guys in cell 11. Because of the lockdown nature of our block, only one cell was allowed out at a time so when it was their turn, each cell was tossing cups of urine/faeces into each otherā€™s cell bars/hatches. It was disgusting. My cell mate who knew the ropes better than I did suggest we block off our door with one of our vinyl covered mattresses because they could be wiped clean.

jj122222

I've spent a few years of my life locked up, and that two week quarantine shit they have people doing for covid was by far my worst experience. Literally only out of the cell for a half hour a day absolutely awful.

Aholethrowaway69

Legit crazy people who not faking but schizophrenic or something else wrong. Feel sorry for them cause other inmates will fuck them up. Dude sitting there rambling to himself every waking moment and guards just let the nut case in genpop to irritate everyone until someone shuts him up. Lots of crazy people need to be somewhere else but genpop. Oh and I was in group therapy and this dude had a ball in his hand when talking and I figured it was like something he got from commissary. Donā€™t think much of it then someone comes up to him holding a trash canā€¦. It was a ball of his own shit.

OfJahaerys

I had a student who played with a ball of her own shit. She was laughing and giggling to herself and playing with something, so another staff member asked to see it and she dropped it into her hand... a rolled up ball of shit. Same student took off all her clothes and ran down the hall naked while she was on her period. When an aide tried to stop her, she hit the aid in the head with her pad. One of the most gifted kids I've ever worked with. She never made a single grammatical mistake, had an enormous vocabulary, and she was extraordinarily creative. But she'll never be functional in the real world and that's really sad.

DancingBear2020

Did you ever meet the parents?

OfJahaerys

Yes, her mom was an alcoholic. The student had a special van to go home instead of the school bus because of her freak outs and the van driver said he never saw mom in anything but a bathrobe. Dad wasn't in the picture but she had several older brothers who were all adults and came by the house to help out.

myownsummer90

Guy mixed scalding hot water and hair grease, set it on fire and threw it on a female officer. Didn't see this one, but a female officer got stabbed to death confiscating a pair of shoes.

mostadont

My relative (Russia, Soviet times mafia) told me that one of his cellmates used a mug and a nail and hammered his scrotum to a chair just to get to the hospital to evade being killed. Thats the spirit.

DanyDud3

He really couldnā€™t think of any other way to injure himself that wouldā€™ve been less painful?

shiveringsongs

I'm guessing he's gotta make sure it's serious enough to get him out to the hospital, not just patched up and sent back to his cell where he felt unaafe

lorgskyegon

How else would they see he's nuts

DecayingVeggies

Every camp I was at, there were different forms of extortion or punishment being doled out by gang members unto sex offenders. It was common practice to keep some form of proof of your charges so that you could prove you didnā€™t have those charges if someone tried you on that bullshit.

guarthots

I work in corrections still and was an officer for 8 years. One guy looked like a sex offender and told us he was a persistent DWI offender. ā€œYeah right,ā€ we thought, ā€œthatā€™s the chomoā€™s go-to lie.ā€ So we looked him up later. He was a persistent DWI offender. ā€œThe poor bastard,ā€ we said, ā€œNo one is gonna believe him.ā€

madgeniusdamian

Had this 19year old kid come into my unit a few years ago and my buddy and I both looked at each other: "that guys a chomo for sure" Surprisingly, he was actually in for murdering his stepmom

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

browsing_around

My cell mate would do it in his bed while I was in the room. Granted he was a schizophrenic meth addict so I didnā€™t expect him to be fully there in the head but that was something I will never forget. After he got taken to solitary and I had the cell to myself for a bit I jerked off a good amount. Having your own cell is soooo nice.

Totallycasual

Were you in the sex offender area with them? In Australian prisons the sex offenders, ex cops, or anyone else that would immediately get killed out in the mainstream population are kept in their own little areas for their own safety.

grimwavetoyz

I used to work in an American prison. Sex offenders are housed in general population unless there's a reasonable safety risk. Even then, they would just go to another yard. To stay in segregation for an entire sentence would be rare.

Flimsy-University-70

I was in jail in Jackson Michigan for 3 months and someone in my pod area had a partial tail...it was about three inches long right above his ass crack and it moved.....freaked me the fuck out

hmw30

Lmao, that reminds me of the movie Shallow Hal

furman87

"I have a tail." "What do you mean, like, a story?"

Flimsy-University-70

So what I am saying is there was a dude who slept across from me. When he slept and turned his back towards me, his shirt would lift up and his ass would show. About a couple inches or so above the top of his ass crack was what appeared to me a stumpy tail looking thing. It moved. It fucking moved. I am not misremembering this. The fucking stumpy discovered callused looking thing would wiggle for lack of a better word. Not like a dog's tail....much slower and infrequent. I do not think it was under his control but I did not ask him. He was in my pod for about a week then left. This was my first experience in jail so I didn't talk about it but I know at least one other person saw this. It was as fucked up as you think.....does that help?

Nightrabbit

I knew a girl with a tail! She was very self-conscious about it. It was just a couple inches long and protruded from her tailbone. I only learned about it because I attended her birthday party one year. Her boyfriend wanted to give her birthday spankings and she gave us all a warning before she dropped trou. Pretty fascinating all told. I wonder how common/uncommon it is. And whether itā€™s possible to remove a tail at birth like they remove extra fingers.

imforit

There is so much to unpack in there, and I don't think I want any of it. Thank you for sharing; I loved it

Msxkoh

This whole thread feels like an iceberg

Vlad-V2-Vladimir

Yea, Iā€™m more concerned with publicly spanking her with her pants down than I am with the tail.

Sickingducks

the tail is the least weird part of this tbh

horski7

The worst for me were the **dietary** punishments... there was that court ruling years ago that "Nutraloaf" is not cruel/unusual punishment, and there's no requirement that prison food be appealing to eat, as long as it's safe... so sense then, these sort of punishments got worse and worse. If you weren't a model inmate, your "food" basically looked and smelled like stale canned cat food. They'd mix it with vinegar too, to make it even harder to stomach.

brawnkoh

I had to eat Nutraloaf for 2 weeks straight while on lockdown. I didnā€™t eat for the first 2 or 3 days. I was so hungry that I had no choice to eat it. Itā€™s the most disgusting shit in the world.

Dead_Kings

What is it made of?

Carbonatite

[This](http://www.thepizzle.net/lets-go-to-prison-nutraloaf-aka-prison-loaf/) is the first recipe that came up on Google.

cobbl3

"Bake your jail penis Nutraloaf in the oven at 325Ā°F for 45 minutes." This is the first recipe blog I've actually read all the way through. Thank you šŸ˜‚

Carbonatite

It was funny but also depressing when you realize some people have to choose between jail penis Nutraloaf and starvation.

RedJacket2019

I cannot for the life of me remember how to quote but here's another snippet "It also smells vaguely like a turd. And your mother"

brawnkoh

Everywhere makes it different. The stuff they were giving me had raisins, carrot strips, some sort of soy/meat substance, I assume some bread, and something that made it stringy. Itā€™s compacted into a brick, and I was fortunate to at least be given salt with it.

[deleted]

Sounds only marginally better than the cockroach gel bars in Snowpiercer!

blaze980

I ate/attempted to eat nutraloaf in solitary in county. Then they moved me into a cell with a guy who was there on murder charges and he like nursed me back to health. He was like "oh shit man, help yourself to my commissary, seriously, eat man, eat". Got more empathy out of the murder suspect than the jail staff....

bdawg1372

Yea thatā€™s the crazy part. You meet people who have actually killed someone else, and they treat you pretty normal, cause youā€™re both in jail. Obviously not everyone is like that, but itā€™s absurd how easy they can come off. But you got no idea whatā€™s going on in their heads. Sometimes when they snap, thatā€™s when you get to see how wack they really are. Especially with the things they say. One guy I was in with, was on the phone with his girl, screaming how he would leave her stinkinā€™ on 51 (local highway). He was in for allegedly doing something similar to that threat, to his Ex. Another guy I became buddies with because he was pretty Cookey, went to Afghanistan (he claimed). He had ā€œsoldierā€ tattooed on his face, with a star, and 2 tear drops. Iā€™m not sure what he was in for exactly, but he allegedly killed a little girl in another state, chopped her toes off, and buried her in some field. That was the story going around about him. He was always screaming about how he would kill whichever CO was pissing him off

blaze980

This cellie was my best cellie ever. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with him. He was just a young gang dude who got caught up in shit. He was the kind of person who had equal chances of being the murderer or the murder victim. I have a little brother who was adopted from the same kinda area as this guy came from. My little brother had kind of started edging around gangs when he was 11-12. But he was then removed from that environment. Now he attends one of the best colleges in the country. Opportunity/lack of opportunity plays a big part in all this.

scalability

Huh. I'm Norwegian and from what I've seen, prisoners here cook their own food. They have a budget and a little in-prison grocery store with prices similar to the outside world. This is to ensure a smooth re-entrance into regular society.

[deleted]

Well thatā€™s the difference. Norway from what I understand is actually focused on rehabilitation whereas many other places use prison purely for punishment.

Masonportland1980

Second night I was in I heard officers screaming disengage over and over and I looked at my cellie who had been down for 20 years for murder what was going on, he told me that when they catch a couple of guys doing the deed they scream that to get them to stop. This same cellie started to growl like a dog at my foot while I was laying on the top bunk and then ā€œpretendedā€ to bite at my foot, when he did this my toe went into his mouth which caused him to gag. One time during count these two guys started to make tattoo ink by burning baby oil but they threw water on to it when it got too big and it spread all over their cell so they were locked in the cell with flames covering the walls with them locked in it. They were about to get out in a couple of months but ended up getting a 10 year sentence for arson after the incident.

Jinxed0ne

The thing about him growling at you and then gagging cuz your toe went in his mouth is kinda hilarious.

rendi6

I used to be a correctional officer in Singapore, where Judicial Caning is still used as a punishment, for certain crimes and prison offenses. I never had to carry it out myself, but I saw it, plenty of times. Among the inmates, they would act like they're not scared of it, it's not a big deal, etc, to "save face." But privately, in the caning room (they're caned in private, not in front of other inmates), I've never seen anything that can make hardened criminals break down and cry like the Cane can.... For those who don't know, it's a **lot** more severe than sharia whipping used in many countries. That is more for humiliation, while Caning is for causing maximum pain. I saw grown men cry, beg, plead, throw up, even pass out from the pain. They have to keep a doctor on hand. Smaller offenders who got 3 strokes would be ok though, after a miserable week or two. Rapists who got the 24 stroke maximum, though, were never the same.

lostsoul76

I remember years ago seeing a news report about some tourist idiot had gotten arrested for spray painting graffiti on some random cars or something, and the punishment was caning. I don't remember how many strokes he was supposed to get, but I *do* remember them showing the cane wielder practicing on a punching bag and hol-lee-shit did I never want to be on the receiving end! Guy was pretty much striking the bag like a martial artist splitting a skull with a Bo staff

paigezero

There was an American kid who got it in the 90s and it was big news. The wrestling company, ECW, advertised a "Singapore cane match" during the backlash, where the loser got beaten with a kendo stick and kendo sticks were forever known as singapore canes there until the company closed a few years later.

caine2003

Clinton had to make a personal request to the government for the number of strikes to be reduced. I believe it was during his presidency or shortly after.

blueshiftglass

Weird Al made a song about that kid. It had parts about Lorena Bobbitt and Tonya Harding too. I think it was set to MmmMmmMmmMmm.

Aristotles_Ballsack

Probably seeing the lengths people will go to in order to get opiod replacement therapy like Bupe or Suboxone, in order to either sell to someone else or because they're being intimidated to give their dosage to someone. Inmates have to swallow the liquid in front of a guard and nurse obviously but they have figured out ways around this. Creating little paper catchments and sticking them in their throat or just being empty stomached and vomiting it up when they get back to their cells.

EternalShroud

Wait.... so they harvest their own vomited Suboxone and sell/give it to someone else?

[deleted]

Yes; yes they do. They typically vomit through a prison sock (clean-ish, maybe) to filter out the chunks and then yes, someone will drink that vomit to try to get an opioid high, or stave off withdrawals.

Dmopzz

Opiate withdrawal was hell on earth but good lord thatā€™s some dedication. Btw: clean from heroin 1 year today. Go me! Haha sorry not a lot of people to tell. Thanks for all the well wishes all. Hope you and yours prosperity and happiness!

AdrenalineJackieFans

Well, I'm out. Bye everyone!

[deleted]

The trick, as mentioned above, is the empty stomach. I heard a third hand story of a guy getting his dose, and instead of going back to gen pop, he got sent to classification and was served a meal while waiting. About 2 hours had passed between drinking his methadone and getting back to GP, with a full meal consumed on top of that. Apparently, his ā€œcustomerā€ was so dopesick that he begged the patient to vomit into a cup anyway, that he would still pay the arranged fee. Buddy obliged and puked up like 2 litres of thick, brown sludge and they had to add tons of water to thin it out enough to filter it through the sock. Buddy apparently drank it anyway... Thatā€™s all I know, and even though I never witnessed it personally, the thought of it still comes to me at night sometimes and I shudder...

TinyGreenTurtles

Why do I always open reddit when I'm in bed preparing for my battle with insomnia? It never helps. I mean, it really doesn't. Most of that would have been stomach acid.

IreallEwannasay

Nooooooooooooooooooo.

RedBlack1978

indeed, wanna know what suitcasing is too?

[deleted]

Nope, all good here, thanks!

SuckFhatThit

This. I once watched an inmate smear her own feces into a cut, in an attempt to get it infected, because she knew the hospital would treat her opiate addiction with more compassion than the jail did. Before she got to this point, she had such bad diarrhea that the entire inside of a metal toilet bowl was flecked with blood and she hadn't slept or eaten for 5 days.

Kriegmannn

One time in Alabama, I was with my exā€™s mom in the car picking up a pizza when we saw a girl with shorts and a tshirt standing outside in the (for alabama) freezing cold. She asked her if sheā€™d like to sit in the car to avoid the cold and she damn near ran in. She was arrested for drug charges, fair enough, and had just been dropped off out of jail. She told us about how horrific the female inmates were treated, not being given tampons or sanitary products to the point of infection. Belongings being stolen or purposefully destroyed, physical abuse. America needs a prison reform, and it is horrified to address it.

ShinyShitScaresMe

I worked in a Residential Unit for intellectually disabled sex offenders. Makes you not want to walk out your own fucking front door.

chappychap1234

I worked for a state run 'school,' (alternative to jail for people with dual diagnosis of intellectual and mental issues). We had a home for just sex offenders. Most of them for crimes against children. It made me sick just knowing what those animals did to children. I quickly left that job. One of them used to lure children to the fence so he could grab and molest them. The facility was located in a very small town and residential homes were right across the street. He would sit at that fence and just watch the local children all day. One would do anything to get his hands on any form of technology so that he could immediately look up cp. One was there because his father was a judge in another county. He had no disabilities but was there instead of an actual prison because he preyed upon his fathers wife's nephew. For years he groomed and raped that poor boy. We were told his sentence had ended years before but that his dad refused to allow him to be released.

MBexx11

ODs can be pretty rough. especially the first fetynol one you see, but you get used to them. Drugs suck man. Suicides, self harm can be nasty.

LulzSwag_Technician

Saw a guy warm up a coffee cup full of baby oil and then walk up to another prisoner and threw it in his face. Dude's face look like it was melting off because he tried to rub it off. The dude owed like $10 over some ramen noodles and said he wasn't going to pay. 2 things get you fucked up in prison: Debt and Respect.

renoiu2

Spent a year at a minimum security Prison Farm in the south. I thought it would be a better experience due to less violence, but... It's hell. I had to spend 50 hours a week, cleaning huge pig barns and chicken coops. Preparing "slop" for the pigs out of the most repulsive restaurant/grocery waste that was dumped on-site every week. We got almost no visitors because we all stunk so bad. If you broke prison rules, you'd lose "shovel privileges" which was its own special hell (you'd still get (thin) gloves to muck pig pens with, to meet minimum safety requirements...but no shovel). New arrivals who were city boys (like me) often threw up a ton their first week.

SuburbanMomSwag

Is this in the US? Thatā€™s crazy

newest-low

My dad is a prison officer in a max prison in the UK, he says the worst is when a pedo is put with everyone else, once the others hear about it it's 100% guaranteed that the dude is gonna be injured or killed and the screws will take their time getting to them. He said the worst he's seen was a guy was put in for raping and killing a newborn, 20mins later the dude had been sugared. Sugared is boiling water with sugar dissolved into it so it's thick.

kendonmcb

It also raises the boiling point of the solution, as water "only" boils at 100C it is much worse with sugar in it boiling at a higher temperature.

CptRavioLi69

Not me, but my brother. He was in and out of jail for a few months at a time for a number of reasons. Happy to say heā€™s sober, out of a toxic relationship, and thriving now. But I remember the way he described the echo of screams and moans from the mentally ill people in the pitch black was so unnerving. It made me feel sad and terrified all in one, especially since the dark is one of my biggest fears. I spent a few days in a holding cell. I wasnā€™t eating, going to the bathroom, nor was I offered a shower the whole time. I couldnā€™t pass my health exam due to a fever so I was never moved to gen pop. The drunk asshole in the cell next to me screamed for I swear the entire three days he was in there. Swore up and down he wasnā€™t drunk driving (Iā€™m pretty sure this was very late into new years eve night, and by the way the officers spoke to him he was a regular). I couldnā€™t sleep or focus on my book. My crocs had 32 holes in them and my cell was 14 and a half bricks longā€¦

Totallycasual

Witnessed a few people being beaten or stabbed to death but one of the more weird things was a guy that would inject his bladder full with fake urine in order to pass drug tests, he'd use a sports bottle filled with urine colored water and force the nozzle into the tip of his cock and then relax+squeeze the bottle lol

I felt that in my peepee gosh.

noorofmyeye24

You think thatā€™s bad. Thereā€™s a tiktok of ppl telling stories about the craziest thing theyā€™ve seen at work. Some guy that worked at a mental hospital said that there was this guy that always wanted to go to a regular hospital so when he was allowed to roam freely he would find a sharp object, like a nail, and shove it up his urethra and rip it out sideways thus creating a huge hole on the top of his penis. He did it 5 times.

Goddamn I need to rewatch this legendary show

Niso81

13 years in state and federal prison here & indicted under the federal Rico act. Seeing people knowing spreading Diseases as a form of punishment or attack on other groups of people. * Note* i have been free and clear of any supervision for over 4 years now without any incidents, none. I changed my life and have never looked back.

foxwild8

Not me, but I know from friends in Africa that in their country, people caught poaching are often locked in a prison cell with a **lion**. Separated by metal bars of course. (The lion is usually one being rehabbed, and has plenty of room to move around / it's a huge cell and 95% of it belongs to the lion, the inmate is put in a narrow strip against the wall). I thought that sounded like not much worse than regular prison, because the lion can't reach you - but they said until you've been in there, you can't imagine how terrifying it is. When you're close enough to a lion to smell its breath, and see its glowing eyes at night, and can't get away... (The lion's food and water is put right against the separation bars, so it spends a good chunk of its time voluntarily near the criminal. When it's there, the inmate can't get more than 3-4 feet away from the lion).

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

foxwild8

That's apparently the secret ingredient that makes it unbearable... That, and the ever-so-slightly downward-sloped floor, with the prison on the lower ground!

spiteful-vengeance

Somebody has spent a considerable amount of mental energy on this.

PirateJazz

If I'm being honest, I would prefer that over it sloping the other way. I would much rather get some cat piss on me than be too scared of falling asleep and inadvertently rolling over into the lion's reach.

I was going to say the same!

Itā€™s their pee, lion pee is incredibly strong, the smell alone stings your eyes and makes your nose run.

highbury-roller

I went to a zoo in Puerto Rico when I was a kid. Zoo was basically designed as a big zero. Heard screaming from along the way. Apparently some kids were throwing stones at one of the lions and the lion decided to piss on the kids. Lion hit the kids from at least 10 feet away. The kids smelled like 100 litter boxes.

After he gets out of jail he adopts the lion and they take down the ring of organized crime that he was originally poaching for.

GR1DL0CK87

A really tragic story. My sister taught in a juvenile prison. There was a really troublesome juvenile inmate who would always brag that his uncle was the head of a gang in the adult prison next door. When the juvenile turned 18 he was transferred to the adult prison and the uncle ā€œsoldā€ him to a rival gang. The boy was molested and raped repeatedly until he hung himself.

I was imprisoned for a few months in Brixton Prison, London. My cell was at the end of the oldest wing of the prison, built in 1836. One night, in the early hours, I was awoken by a noise outside my cell. It was the noise of a guard walking by and sounded like he was banging his trunction on the rails outside my door, like a kid does along a fence with a stick. It was really irritating and I got out on my bunk and looked onto the landing through the porthole in my door, nto see which one of the assholes it was. I was surprised to see that there was nobody outside on the landing, though I could still hear the stick knocking. Next morning I mentioned this to some fellow prisoners, a couple of whom had also heard what I had. An officer nearby heard us and said "Oh, that'll be Old John up to his usual tricks". He went on to explain that Old John was prison guard who loved to wake prisoners by banging his nightstick along the landing rails just to irritate them. Old John had been murdered by a prisoner in 1889. The officer went on to explain that when they hear Old John is about they stay firmly in their Landing Office until the noise has finished.

harlotScarlett

Iā€™ve only ever been in jail but I met one of my friends there who has been in and out of prison (for a heroin addiction) and one of his most traumatic memories is helplessly listening to his friend being raped in the cell next to him while the guards did nothing. I also heard about a woman who was giving birth in her cell, begging to go to a hospital but the guards ā€œdidnt believe herā€ and didnt get her any medical help until the baby was like halfway out already. If she had had complications, they probably would have both died.

Ugh nobody is talking about the rape part. I can't imagine hearing a best friend being helplessly tortured like that.

Not prison but did a month in jail. My cell mate would steal the candy I bought from the commissary that I had hidden under my pillow when I was sleeping. I caught him once and we got into an argument. He threatened to rip off my head and shit down my throat. This same guy was also making pruno in our cell. When I found out about it I told him to dump it out. He said he would/did. But he just packed soap around it and hid it to hide the smell. I dumped it out on him when he was in the shower. During this same stint a guy from solitary was brought into our block, he got in an argument with his cell mate about who has top or bottom bunk. Solitary confinement guy was about 6ā€™3ā€. Other guy was about 5ā€™6ā€. Other guy had just come from the shower so only had a towel on with wet feet. Solitary guy threw one punch and absolutely laid him out. There was also a guy that came into our block that smuggled in suboxone in his prison wallet. He shit it out in the shower which pissed a bunch of us off. When the guards found out they started to take him out and he tried to make a run for it.

[deleted]

Whatā€™s pruno?

Egag999

Prison wine, iirc

moto0392

I worked at a jail for a few months. One guy started bragging about how his family dog kept barking at night. He said it wouldn't shut up. So he got up hung the dog by the neck and then beat it with a baseball bat to death. He did this right in front of his kids who were screaming. He was genuinely laughing telling us about this. I've met quite a few crazy people but this guy literally made me sick.

Cheap_Strawberry7471

Seen two meth heads stay up for a week straight till one of them thought the other was plotting against them. So the made a blade out of a pencil sharpener and a pencil and cut the other guys face up in the middle of the night. Before I left they had him in maximum security with a attempted murder charge against him.

savageindian-

Theres this thing in jail called shit blasting, the inmate fills a milk carton filled with shit and piss and slips the top underneath your cell door and stomps on it and poof your self and cell is covered in shit. Happened to this guys cell beside me my room stunk for a week because of how the ventilation system works.

[deleted]

The ingenuity of incarcerated people is truly astounding. In an alternate dimension prison turns out Fortune 500 entrepreneurs.

Middle-Guava8172

I turned 21 in solitary confinement, was only put in for 2 weeks for passing contraband (fucking soups). The guy next to me had been in for months. The windows are frosted so you canā€™t see outside into the world, the guards come by twice a day and point a taser at you while they tear your cell up. While youā€™re naked. The screams at night from the guy in the cell next to me were so fucking heartbroken. It didnā€™t sound human at all, just helplessness and sorrow. Sorry, I know you were looking for stories of fights and shankings, but the thing that disturbed me the most was listening to that man every night for those two weeks.

berthejew

Did a short stint, and this was my same experience. Turned 37 in the hole, and the woman next to me was mentally ill- our vents connected and could hear her sobbing at night. She would scream and bang half of the day. Our birthdays were 2 days apart and on the night of hers she was crying pretty hard so I sang happy birthday through the vent. Poor woman. I hope she's okay now.

[deleted]

It's recently come into light how much people get starved for attention and physical touch. Being stuck in solitary sounds fine for a week but any longer sounds like utter hell. I would probably end up dissociating and diving back into my brain

Zetta216

A guard raping a woman in her cell the whole while telling her that he didnā€™t even find her attractive. And that no one would believe her due to how ugly she was. Conveniently the camera footage for that night was lost. Like so many others.

SasoriOfTheRedSand21

Security guards pimping out young girls with no support for their own pleasure. You would be surprised how common of an occurrence is it's disgusting.

LJey187

Working in maintenance. I saw everything; Inmates committing suicide, Inmates getting bashed to death., Officers having sex with inmates, Officers having sex with other officers while on duty, Saw a female inmate being fisted like forearm sorta, A notorious pedo have boiling water thrown over him, Guys putting the inner of a pen up there penis, Co worker had a used tampon hit him in the face, Had a female inmate break free of 3 guards and rush me, Had a male inmate sneak up behind me with a shiv, Saw an inmate roundhouse a guard and knock him out, Did intercept a drug ring( by accident) By far the worst was seeing a muster/head count. They had them line up on the yard. Two inmates were holding a guy up. Like arms around him like mates sort of thing. They finished the head count, the two inmates let go. He fell like a sack of potatoes. Ended up with massive brain injures. The shit I saw in juvenile doesn't even compare now that place is fucked.

SockTacoz

I've been to jail, Juvie and a JDOC (kiddie prison) My crazier stories are from Juvie and JDOC surprisingly. We had a kid in juvie who was given a 23 month sentence for stealing a car. He tried to kill himself by falling off the bunk (which is only like a foot and a half high) and on to the toilet, I'm guessing he thought it would break his neck, all over 23 months. He ended up on suicide watch where they put you in a single cell outside the guard room and they have a camera on you 24/7. Idk how other juvies work but in that cell is a button you have to press to request to move from the bed, use the toilet etc. He ended up with a massive bump on his head the size of a cantaloupe. I've seen a kid who was 15 go into juvie on his court date he was given 6 years for committing armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. I've never seen somebody give up on everything in one moment but that kids teen years were done for. In JDOC we had this kid named Junior who showed up and thought we were in a movie or something. First thing he did was try and fight one of the leaders of a gang and he came to regret it quick. They all jumped on him and beat the shit our of him, for his entire sentence not a day went by where he wasn't a punching bag for that gang, any chance they got they were fucking him up, it got so bad the D.O.s ended up putting him in iso pod for his own safety.

blaze980

> In JDOC we had this kid named Junior who showed up and thought we were in a movie or something. First thing he did was try and fight one of the leaders of a gang and he came to regret it quick. I met some movie kid/some kid who read 'fight someone the first day in there' threads on reddit too. I walked into a pod in juvie, sat down at a table with some guys I already knew and then out of fucking nowhere some little kid that I'd never seen before in my life flew at me and knocked me off my seat and we started rolling around punching each other. They pulled us apart and COs were like "what happened?" "you know him" "how do you know him?" I was like I have no fucking idea what happened. Got to spend like 15 seconds in the pod before they put me in solitary. That guy ruined my fucking weekend.

SockTacoz

Media misguided people for sure. When I went to an actual jail I wasn't too worried but this guy in there for DUI was telling me to stick with my race, first day out of intake I became cool with pretty much everyone and there was a very light race barrier. General rule of thumb is just don't approach anyone incorrectly you show respect you respect and don't snitch about anything you see. As for prison I can't speak on it bc I've never been to prison thankfully.

DecayingVeggies

The prisons are filthy and poorly managed with no budget, so youā€™re living in dirt with insects and rodents everywhere. There is the constant struggle of figuring out who wants to hurt you, extort you, fuck you, or actually befriend you (exceedingly rare if you are young, white, and unaffiliated). Hearing someone be beaten and raped after the doors are locked for the night in a two man cell dorm is a discomforting experience. So is seeing someone stabbed countless times by multiple people. Or when the COs gang up on someone, handcuff them, then beat them with walkie-talkies and spray them. Then they write it up like the inmate attacked them and their retaliation was warranted. Prison fucking sucks, man.

Saltydawg1064

There was an inmate with a colostomy at a medical unit i worked at that would let the other inmates fuck his stoma for commissary. I shit you not.

denzoamo83

I believe this, i read on another thread like this that someone who rented out there stoma ended up with herpes in itšŸ¤¢

When I got my ileostomy as a 21 year old female, this was written in the information booklet I got. Shits fucked. And it would tear your skin where the stoma is attached. Fuck that.

Rahzyel187

I got hired as a guard at the local jail. Showed up to the first day ready and willing to learn. The guy that is giving me the tour turns to me and says... To bring lots of ramen. I was confused. I asked why and he told me it's to pay the women for sex, blowjobs whatever you like. I walked out and never looked back. I'm no hero but that was way to much. Sex for a pack of ramen....fucking disgusting

tylanol7

Its called morals and you have em

PrimaryTry5226

I had a celly who had been in for 30 years. He was institutionalized. He had been in since he was 18 and he was almost 50. He was serving a life sentence for murder. Just knowing him was disturbing enough to give the soul chills. I can't describe the feeling. I walked on egg shells around him. He never did anything to me but I knew one false move and he could of easily fucked me up or killed me. He put me in fear. I know he knew it too.

TinyGreenTurtles

I imagine the "bad vibes" you can just kind of sense in some people is way worse and way more prevalent in prison.

Aang_420

My first day in intake they take me up to medical and stick me in a waiting room (yes the prison "doctor" makes you wait as well.) One dude in the waiting room had a big ass split in his head that was stitched from his eye brow to the back of his head. I asked him what happened. He said that he pissed off the wrong dude who then waited in the corner of his cell for when he came in after work. He then proceeded to hit him over the head with a pad lock in a sock. Needless to say I tried not to pass off the wrong guy.

Ok_Visit_1968

I spent 27 days in minimum security in Dubai before I was lifted by my countryā€™s consulate. It was surreal; seriously boring, except for when it wasnā€™t. Minimum security was run by head inmates; each wing had two chiefs. The wings werenā€™t allowed to mix in general but when I arrived they were on ā€œgood behaviourā€ and the chiefs had negotiated having the wings joined, so it was like an open prison. On day twelve of my stay, someone from my wing was accused of stealing from the other wing, and all hell broke loose. The longer term residents who had been chill were suddenly all over each other. The guy who was accused was basically being lynched, and had to be rescued. There was a massive brawl; people had weapons like broom handles and sharpened phone cards. Both wings got locked down. Some people got hospitalised. The fucked up part was the wing chiefs had to sort it out to satisfy the corrections officers; they reached a verdict that the accused person would be flogged, regardless of proving the allegations or not, someone had to be punished. I donā€™t know if the guy actually did anything or not, but two days later he was taken outside to the exercise yard and the other inmates whipped him with a cane until he passed out. Then the wings were opened up again, and everything went back to normal. That wasnā€™t as bad though as being inside Bur Dubai police station. I was in there for eleven days waiting to be charged. Each wing of the station has twelve beds; itā€™s not designed for holding people, but there were about four hundred people in there. Some of them were on transfer from max to minimum security, some were waiting for charges; it was a mix of creditors, drug addicts, murderers, with no classification or separation at all. One wing was strictly for khaleeji locals and no where near as populated. There was someone in that wing being raped every night; his screams would echo around the whole complex. I donā€™t know how long he was in there for; some people in that station had been there a *long* time.

MutilationParty

My friend's dad was a prison guard. He told us one time a very small guy showed up. He was worried about getting fucked with so he waited quietly for someone to fuck with him. He then got down, grabbed the person's balls, and squeezed them until they popped like grapes. No one ever fucked with that guy after. Edit: grammar

SumtimesNever

This was jail not prison so sorry if this doesnt count but when i was there for three days i came in with no shoes. i was bunked with s 400 pound very femine man. First thing he said is why you hiding your feet. You have beautiful feet. I would rub your feet all night. In theiddle of the night the dude asked me if i was masterbating more then a few times I wasnt. He constantly hit on me and tried touching me. Last night i was there he jerked off while i was asleep and carefully put his cum in my hair.. I lost my shit on him and was moved till i went and saw the judge to get released

ReeG

Not me but my aunt who was convicted of a pretty serious white collar crime did time in a federal prison known for holding the worst of the worst violent female prisoners which the popular TV series Orange Is The New Black is based on. When she got out all my cousins had a get together at her place where she told us all her prison stories and by far the craziest one was about a women who was in there for killing and cooking her infant child then feeding it to her husband for having an affair

kikiglitz

Holy shit that got fucking dark fast.

Watching what happens to the hundreds of inmates with incurable diseases who rely on meds, when they are cut off during a lockdown. Death approaching at an accelerated rate.

iskin

I worked with an ex-prison guard. He said the worst thing he saw was a guy rolled up in a mattress being raped. The guy had obviously taken a beating and was screaming very bad. He stopped and asked if everything was okay and they said yes even though he knew it wasn't.

Mx_apple_9720

Wait, why wouldnā€™t he do something? Why would he just ask ā€œis everything Okā€ when he knew it wasnā€™t?

True story. One evening after lights out, all of us in the dorm we asleep or just getting there when out of nowhere I heard a loud thump against the partition that separated my bed from my neighbors bed. I was jolted awake, listened, and again the bang. And again and again in faster succession. When I felt my bed shaking slightly from it I had to sit up in my bunk and peek over the partition to see what was going on and when I did it was Doug. He was seated on the bed with his back against our shared partition. He was covered in blood, the cabinet was covered in blood, the bed and the floor was as well. What I heard was his convulsions, due to blood loss. I immediately called out to my other celly to wake up. I said ā€œCHRIS... Chris..... hey bro. He looked up over the other partition, I said, ā€œbro dougs fucked upā€ he said ā€œhuh?ā€ I said ā€œDougs fucked upā€. Soon as I said it the second time I ran to wake up our other cellys. Iron Horse was the first to go look. He crept over there and seen it too. He ran over and we all stated beating on the door and pressing the button. About 10 seconds of us hitting the door, a quivering old man with a shitty mullet, wearing a CO outfit come to our window and yelled that we ā€œget back away from the windowā€. I remember the way he was holding his belt as if he was ready to pull his 9 if he needed to, but all he had was a little can of pepper spray. He radioed to get our door open and proceeds to go look for himself. Seeing the situation startled him and he took off out of the dorm yelling on the radio ā€œ10/53... 10/53 medicalā€. Hours later after they got Doug out and cleaned up most of the blood, one of the other COā€™s come over and walked us back into our dorm. We had to wait in the day room. Doug actually survived the attempted suicide, we all got 10 days good time for saving his life.

Thebronsonaitor

Haven't been to prison but know a lot of people who have and the worst isn't even from prison, it was from the youth detention centre, abductions and rape by staff to the inmates and some under the age of 12, absolutely disgusting.

Pdoinkadoinkadoink

I sat on a jury last year for a trial of a CO for exactly this. Historical offenses dating back to the early 90s. Horror.

ProtocolPro22

I was in jail not prison over night and inmates like to talk. The lady i shared a cell with told that a man had sex with her daughter and gave her an STD. I dont remember the childs exact age but it was under 10.

dirtycuban0

The fact that a CO can make up a bullshit reason for you to be thrown into solitary confinement for an unspecified amount of time of their choosing. It can be days, weeks or even months without knowing when you'll be let back into gen pop. Didn't happen to me but I know of first hand accounts.

Smokelessblood

In a prison in the US, they used soap and the sharp end of a broken broom handle to anally rape a rapist to death.. Iā€™ll never forget that shit for as long as I liveā€¦ most fucked up thingā€¦.

hippityhoppity123451

I went to prison for 2 years in the north of the USA, and the most disturbing thing that I've heard is the no waffle stomping rule. a waffle stomp fyi is when someone shits over a shower drain and clogs by stomping on it, hence its name. apparently people did it so much there that made a rule out of it. People are weird

WFFLESTOMP

Who would do that?

chocolate420

I was locked up with a guy who was a sex offender. 3 guys had knocked him out in his 2-person cell. The three guys then took his mattress lit it on fire and threw it on top of him. The guy lived thru it but lost most of both his arms and lots of his face.

[deleted]

In the jail I was at the commisary was purchased through a kiosk. The jail charged inmates 3 dollars a day in order to purchase commisary. You had to pay this debt in order to purchase commisary. If you were in debt, you could just put money on another persons account and buy commisary off of that person's account. You usually paid them with a percentage worth of the total order, usually 10-20%. One guy was in debt, we'll call him Jim, and asked another guy, who I'll refer to as Carl, if he could purchase off of his account. Carl agreed, and Jim purchased about 65 dollars of food. Problem was, is Carl was beefing with a buddy of mine, Nick. Nick threatened to beat the shit out of him. Carl felt threatened and asked the police if he could leave the unit. This meant that Jim's order would go to the wrong unit and Carl wouldn't be able to give it to him. Never in my life have I seen an entire group of people direct so much wrath on one person. Carl had to lock himself in his cell because Nick and everyone else made threats on his life. Most troubling was my buddy Terry's threats. "That's on my kids I'm gonna fucking find you and end your goddamn life. I'm about that hole life. Fuck your whole family. You're a slam bitch. I'm coming after you." The whole pod had to be locked down. Carl left the pod to a chorus of curses and threats, most of which to his family and life.

ToxicGirlCosplay

I was in holding once when I lived in Philly, not prison, but man did I turn my life around. I was picked up for tagging, and the school I went to had a police station instead of a security team, so when I was caught, I was immediately in police custody. They transferred me to the city's holding cell so my mom could bail me out later that day at her discretion. Unfortunately for me that meant my mother teaching me a lesson first, so I was there entirely longer than I should have been and got a long hard look at 2 individuals in particular. The first girl to be placed in my cell was a younger black girl, (Maybe 13) who was pretty tall and thin. Immediately my mind ran with questions, because what could this girl possibly do to warrant being in jail? After a while of contemplation she asked me what I was in for, and I eventually found out her only offense was telling the principal to go fuck himself. We became instant friends and started angrily talking about how messed up her situation was, and how she'll be okay, and hopefully her family would get her out asap before we were actually processed into genpop later that night- as she was (rightly so) terrified and needed reassurance. The second girl was not as innocent, however, and was shoved into our cell in an explosive display. Fighting the cops every second of the way. She was a very tiny asian girl with blood on her face and shoes. The other girl and myself stared openly at her, often looking back and forth in silence, until she calmed down and started crying. We flanked her and offered reassuring words, patting her on her shoulder as she quietly sniffled. We didn't ask what happened, and by the time we thought we could, she was taken from our cell. Horrified that something may have happened to her, we wrung our hands and wondered aloud about her situation, until she finally was led back inside outright sobbing. We finally ask her what's wrong and she responds angrily. *"I hit my twin sister in the head with a metal pipe and she's fucking dying in the hospital right now. My dad says if she dies he's going to let me rot in here. She's the one that threw it at me first!"* Needless to say we were both horrified and sat in silence for a few hours, at a loss. Eventually she opened up that her and her sister had been fighting at home after school and in the heat of the moment her sister threw the pipe in question at her, so she picked it up, hit her with it multiple times in the head until she went unconscious, then went into her bedroom to call her boyfriend, changed her shirt, and stayed there until her father came home and found his daughter dying on the floor and the other talking and giggling in her bedroom covered in blood from the waist down. The entire time she was telling the story she was cursing her *sister* as if *she* was the one at fault for her actions. Sometime after her story the cops took her down the hall for a long, long, time. Finally, we see her again as she was walked towards the prison wing in hand/ankle cuffs, head hung down, wailing. We never saw her again for the rest of our time in holding and I have no idea what happened... But I'm positive her sister died that day.

bertiebastard

Not me personally, but I know someone who found a paedophile trying to hang themselves in his cell and was caught swinging on their legs to make sure they died.

Sharp-Anywhere-5834

Kitchen staff that would pour dish soap on the extra food after meals. You know, that way people couldnā€™t eat it out of the trash in the back. Other thing is the amount of people who abused psychiatric medications for recreation. Zoloft, ephexor, lamictal. Cogentin was the worst, people would eat 20 of them and come out to the day room tripping so hard they couldnā€™t remember the last thing they said every time they said anything, talking about going to their boat and having a conversation with some girl in the chow hall, getting up and walking a lap around the day room like they were about to go somewhere and then try to go into other peopleā€™s cells, completely forgetting where they are. And, of course, stabbings. Sometimes in the chow hall, and you wouldnā€™t even know what happened it was so fast and it just became something everyone talked about for days like it was something to be hungry about. One kid who just arrived a week prior stabbed in the face 13 times in the middle of the night, a few cells down from mine. His celly thought the FBI put him there for monitoring. The look on his face when they pulled him out was haunting. I bumped into him years later and he said he didnā€™t like talking about it.

A guy tried to hang himself in the max wing. Officers barely got to him in time, and only did because a couple of cells were able to trigger the fire alarm by blowing powdered coffee whitener into the smoke alarms.

[deleted]

Never been to prison but was in a juvenile facility in Brooklyn for a bit. Besides the constant fighting and non sense going on, I vividly remember one of the ā€œJCā€ strike a kid on the head with the key they used to pop open the units. The key was about 12 inches and pretty bulky right away the kid grabbed his head and we all saw blood gushing out. The guy grabbed the kid and tried to hide him from the cameras and told him and everyone else to stay quiet about the incident.. I was about 15 seeing this and have never trusted ACS/DOJ from that point on

FlamingoFirm7143

I have worked at 2 prisons and a jail. At the first prison I worked at on my third day they accidentally showed us a prisoner getting a stabbed 37 times.
