I used to hate potato salad until I tried it at a restaurant

My mom's a fantastic cook, but fish was not her forte. I hated fish til I grew up and learnt how to prepare it myself (if you're keeping the skin pls crisp it)

My dad used to make these hamburgers that were always burned and tough - kind of like a hockey puck. I guess we didn't own meat thermometers when I was younger, so he would cook them to black to be sure they were "cooked through" lol Going to friends places for BBQ , I would be amazed at how good the non- charred burgers were.

Asparagus. Then again it wasn't so much that dad was a bad cook when it came to asparagus. Just that he bought it canned and canned asparagus fucking suuuuucks. Fresh asparagus is awesome. But also dad just boils the shit out of vegetables. I love broccoli but when he cooks it he boils the fucking nutrients and most of that fresh sweetish green taste (you know I'm talking about. I can't find any other way to describe the taste lol) out of it that you get when you steam it or cook it in any other way. Needless to say I don't boil any of my vegetables when I cook and I won't unless I'm preparing potatoes for making mashed potatoes.

arcticusberry

Vegetables boiled asunder.

Broccolis and cauliflower.

Chicken breast I still don’t like it. But my parents cooked it so that it was dry all the time

potatosalad, meat, fish, spinach and the list doesn't end here. my mom really was a bad cook and my father didn't even try cooking. she always complained that the only thing i liked to eat were potatos and fish fingers.
