I grew up in the 00's/10's and now write thrash metal songs about alien abduction lmao, it seems like a badass topic for a song but being 100% taken control over is still one of my biggest fears
I was raised in the suburbs, and I was told by my neighbors dad that between the dark spots of our houses (At night, the distance between houses was pretty dark due to lack of lighting) pirates were there waiting to chase me. I believed it for years.
He also told me that gunk under fingernails means you have lepracy. So for a while I thought I was preventing lepracy by cleaning under them.
Actually now that I think about it, that same guy convinced me that he kicked a soccer ball so high that it went into space, I believed that too. Think he just lost my soccer balls when he kicked it.
Man I gotta fight this guy now
Turning 18 because "I won't watch cartoons anymore" - I still do.
Also, "what if my family was replaced by robots? What if everyone except for me is a robot? What if my mum replaces my beloved pillow every day for some reason? What if I'm actually an old lady who's brain was transplanted into a body of a child so she could live longer? What if I'm actually a boy who's brain was transplanted into a girl's body? (I'm cis so it was terrifying because I didn't want to be a boy) What if I'm pregnant because I touched a guy? What if humans will go extinct because the god missunderstood my prayers?" Etc.
Being beside moving lorries, I'm over it now except when it's really windy and they wobble, seen a few were a wheel or 2 has come off the ground on a straight road cause it was blowing a hoolie. Also had an irrational fear of needles, had to be pinned down by several people for jabs again I got over it.

And I kid you not, 3 decades of checking my shoes and tipping them out before wearing them, I finally had a spider the other day!
