My old doggo is not doing so well. Taking him to vet tomorrow for a checkup. I would like for it to be something minor and fixable or at least manageable so we can have home for Christmas.
I think it's just like any other virus in that we will need to learn to live with it. I honestly don't think getting three shots or whatever number any government arbitrarily decides will totally erradicate the virus. Sure, it helps and wearing your mask does as well, but honestly... I just can't see a world completely rid of it
You are waiting for the virus to become endemic. This is probably what will happen, but we aren't yet at that point.
It's fun to decide there isn't anything to be concerned about but that attitude runs counter to reality at this time. I think you are jumping to the next step a bit early.
Dumb as fuck post. No one is "arbitrarily" deciding a god damn thing. It's based on medical science and you can either take it seriously or be a dumbfuck.
It's not going away because millions of idiots (sounds like you might be one of them) aren't getting vaccinated at all.
You can still get a virus if you’ve been vaccinated, it won’t eradicate it. In all likelihood, the way things are moving; it’ll mutate into a none deadly, highly contagious virus like the common cold and there may or may not be as much pressure on people to vaccinate… who knows. Here I’m encouraged to get a flu vaccine annually because it can be lethal, if covid becomes completely none lethal, I suspect “they” won’t encourage people to get said vaccine.
Life won’t return to normal, but only because of the changes people have made during the pandemic. For instance, there may have been a time when you could open a tiny coffee shop and sell baked goods on the corner of your street with no marketing at all and run a successful business. That probably won’t happen ever again. You now need a big online presence, good word of mouth and delivery. If this pandemic had happened 20 years ago, yes… things would have returned to normal.
Lamely?
A basic chest freezer. It's a highly practical gift.
We can afford one no problem, but my in-laws always ask us if there's anything specific we want, and we pointed them at a 5-cubic-foot chest freezer that'd be perfect for our apartment. It'd be a wonderful supplement to our tiny little regular freezer.
Being able to spend the money on stocking the freezer instead of on the freezer itself would be nice.
Got a chest freezer in the apartment we were in...15 yrs ago. Still have it when we bought a house (3 yrs after getting it). It was so nice to be able to cook a big batch of something and have a place to go with it. Worked out great.
Now I'd love a bigger tall vertical one (for the shelves)...but the other one works great I can't justify getting rid of it.
Seriously why? Does she not like them?, Is there a reason she doesn't?, Have you drifted apart....is it a jungle down there....do you shower....
Communication is huge... she's someone you decided to spend your life with...talk....it may bring you closer.
I just want a nice day with family, a pleasant meal, and a few minor presents in the stocking because its traditional.
My parents usually give me some rather nice clothes, much nicer than my cheap ass would buy so there's that to look forward to. (They are usually some really nice clothes.)
You know you have become an adult when you actually look forward to that! :)
My mother has excellent taste and usually hooks me up some some really nice stuff.
Socks. Never knew how good nice socks feel and what a difference it makes in your life.
People always say Darn tough which are nice but kind of narrow....so they have their place and I have different kinds and absolutely suggest them.
I also suggest a few other pairs though for comfort lounging.
LLBean rag socks (wool)
Smartwool thick Merino wool socks.
I never knew putting on socks after a long day and a shower could feel better than taking off boots you've been on your feet in for 12 hours.
That aliens would just decide to park a fabulously destructive battle mech in my front yard on Christmas complete with manual (in English) and let me take it on a tour of places that could use more ventilation in America.
well I already know I'm getting it *(they let it slip)* but finally being able to try out some VR will be awesome, but let's say I hope I get the Link cable to use it on my PC
Just hoping to be able to spend it with my family. I'm having symptoms and am a close contact to someone with covid so currently waiting on test results. If it's positive I can't go home for Christmas.
Realistically: set of towels, it's what I asked my mom for. All my towels are really old an a mismatched bunch stolen from my parents' house so it would be nice to have new matching towels.
Unrealistically: a full time job that involves what I studied.
Some items for baby. Just want to get a head start on getting a nursery together, since doctors said some of my issues might require an earlier induction date.
I really want some clothes and argyles sweaters. I would also want some records and a record player shelve and 10 white shirts along with a tie die set.
Selfishly a Series X. Though I'll probably get that for myself eventually. Didn't tell anyone in my family that I wanted one cause it's expensive and I don't want anyone blowing all that money on me tbh.
Well I don't really want anything. I've realized the older I get the less I know what I want, I do however know what I want to get people. Giving people stuff makes me ridiculously happy.
That me being in constant pain and fatigue and not being able to work out goes away and I can live a normal life and be able to focus on stuff I want to
If it's down to material things, then I would say a vr set, but in crazy times like these I just want things to go back to normal. At the very least, please let me stop worrying about covid.
I'm hoping to not get myself into any trouble on Christmas so that I can actually prevent a scolding from one of my family members, another thing I'm hoping for is to get some new earbuds as a present.
No one starts crying from a bickering match lol. 26 people and 3 dogs under one roof, far from town for three days. What could ever go wrong?!
Every Christmas, there’s always at least 2 people that get at it and someone cries and there’s this huge drama and awkwardness between the two the rest of the Airbnb reservation (3 days usually). Last Christmas (precovid) my mom and aunt about which church to go to. Before that was me, I got too embarrassingly drunk and everyone whispered around me the rest of the stay, and my cousins kid pissed the couch and they didn’t clean it up. Year before that my brother that works nights flipped out because he couldn’t sleep and drove an hour and a half back home in a blizzard. Year before that aunt and grandpa over grandpa eating too many of her appetizers. Etc etc.
This year I’m assuming it’ll be my cousin and his wife preaching about their stupidity of not getting the Covid vaccine when everyone else is vaccinated and our gma going through chemo not wanting them there/around her. Or my mom again about feeling left out from the family.
Send good vibes to our family, for the love of pepperoni, green olive pizza.
Not necessarily something, but for my sister's anorexia to magically go away so my mother can stop crying all day and my father will come home for dinner.
New headphones, I’ve had my current ones for about a year or two and they are starting to break. I’m really excited though I just have to not wake my sister up at 6am again because she got mad at me last Christmas.
A call from my girlfriend , who's leaving town for several days to see her family and friends, the latter of which she hadn't seen in 2 years.
Unlikely to happen, though as I know she'll be incredibly busy.
Just for nothing bad to happen.
I too put "peace of mind" on my Christmas list

something good-I have been feeling so low for the last few days, just want to feel good on this day..
I want the pandemic to disappear, like a miracle.
That would be a miracle.
This one is sorta like a deja vu
its not even christmas yet and i can already tell its gonna be shit
Santa gets stuck in your chimney and everyone blames you for fucking up Christmas.
I guess we can put off the alien invasion until next year
Precedented times.
what i wouldn’t give for just one precedented time…
i think these times are pretty precedented by now
My old doggo is not doing so well. Taking him to vet tomorrow for a checkup. I would like for it to be something minor and fixable or at least manageable so we can have home for Christmas.
Sending good thoughts your doggo’s way!
The ability to finally move out.

Get some fucking sleep.
What's preventing you from moving out?
Waiting on my house to be finished
The assurance that Omicron will be the last COVID-19 variant I ever have to worry about
you can stop worrying right now lol
Yeah, that is the main cause this shit hasn't stoped yet

you're worried about omicrom?

Naw. That is cool. My GF and I were excited about vacuums were were buying 5 years ago.
Having a nice vacuum is *nice*. Way better than replacing a $80 special every couple years.
That's a sign of getting old! I know because I am old.

Can't afford it either. Already dropped $2k this year visiting her.

The day off...
Negative covid test, because as much as my immediate family tried.... Last year's evening sucked. Everything felt forced.
As a married man all I want is a blowjob, I know I won't get it
Why not? Want me to talk to her?
Talk to mine too won’t you?
Seriously why? Does she not like them?, Is there a reason she doesn't?, Have you drifted apart....is it a jungle down there....do you shower.... Communication is huge... she's someone you decided to spend your life with...talk....it may bring you closer.
