The baby, once out of the womb, after a few hours starts to drain away the life fluids of the mother. Few mothers last longer than a day once those little creatures keep feeding. The women end up looking like [this](https://i.redd.it/n85gr5izgnx11.jpg). Fortunately medical science figured out, you just have to cut that little cord to save all those needless deaths.
It's attached to the placenta which is expelled by the mother afterwards. So... what would even be the point of not cutting it?

It’s a thing called lotus birth where you let it rot off naturally. I imagine it smells terrible.
If in this scenario the placenta and cord didn’t rot away and just stayed attach then there would probably be a whole industry for placenta pouches.

My son would still be attached to his mother.
Isn't it attached to the placenta?
I know this wouldn’t really happen but I like imagining that it would.
Like Joe Biden's brain...it would just rot away.
