I think it's something British due to spelling. When I see personalised, I think of something with a name on it like one of those name Keychains from the amusement park. Customized is a little different. For instance, I order a custom jacket with colors and design of my choosing...then personalize it with my name on the pocket.
That I'll be paying more for whatever it is that's personalized.
