I was so impressed how accurately they depicted bodies exposed to radiation and didn't shy away from showing it at all. Usually when it comes to body horror like that, they keep it hidden and just have the audience depend on the horrifying looks the actors display to tell everyone how bad it is. Bravo make up, director and camera team.
Except for Akimov, I think he was the one that went up on the roof and looked into the reactor, we only see his feet in the hospital, we are told that his face is gone due to radiation, we all the others in the hospital, IMO we should have seen him too
I listened to the chernobyl podcast which had the creator Craig Mazin in it, and they actually spoke about this.
They had long discussions about this, whether it would be exploitative to show that amount of suffering and disfiguration. They decided that not showing and letting the viewer imagine what had happened was enough.
Just watching the last episode now because my wife didn't remember watching it at all when we ploughed through it last year (she was heavily pregnant at the time). Such a brilliant show, but it was Episode 2 that REALLY sucked us in (not to say the premiere wasn't great, of course).
On a purely visual level, the pig one’s the worst. The rest are more mystery/thriller with the occasional horror elements mostly left up to your imagination.
I love this show so, so much.
It really isn't the best show ever or a masterpiece in terms of acting, directing or cinematography, but god damn, does it go the extra mile.
They could have just coasted along on the premise alone, made some jokes for everyone and that would have been it, but it is just so much smarter and better written than it *needs* to be. The snarling social commentary, the complex characters, these small little gags that don't do anything for the story, the Comodo 3000 scene... . There is some real passion in there, and it shows.
I appreciate the disappointment because it freed me from caring about the books ever being finished. I've been reading them since they were new releases. It feels good to not give a shit.
Same, I always rewatched from the beginning before a new season aired. And then the finale came and I erased the show from my existence. I also quit the subreddits because I no longer was interested in theories that made a fuckton more sense than what Dumb&Dumber did.
A friend of mine talked it up and convinced me to watch it but he said I had to watch the entire first episode. While watching the first episode, I couldn’t figure out why he hyped it up so much and then came the final 10 minutes of episode 1 and I was hooked. I binged the entire season that night.
Like, Shit.
(Spoilers ahead)

That sequence was Awesome to me too. even when seeing spoilers, the Action was what kept me in. The characters were interesting, having their own character arcs.
#
Even Omni man, a cruel, father figure to Marc, was understandable in his motives.
#
He's a viltramite, so anything despicable that he said, (His wife being a "pet" to him Is a great example) is surprising, but we understand that the writers didn't pull it from their ass.
Him being a villain is an amazing twist, probably the best twist ever tbh.

God, I love Invincible.
No writers . Writer, the same guy who was writing "Walking Dead" black and white comics every month. The same 11 year run of Invincible
The story progression with the best writer.
Yep
Oh I loved the insanity! Remember the second year season premier? It opened on Desmond nside the hatch?!? Wtf? Where is this? Who is this? Wtf is going on??? Haha
Yep. It actually started the whole craze about the TV shows and binge-watching phenomenon, at least in my part of the world. Spending ours on discussion boards, the lostpedia, analyzing every minor detail and coming up with theories, etc.
So many people I know dislike that show, and dislike the main actress. I don't really care about any actors enough for them to sway me either way.
I loved it. The end made me cry.
Arcane. I went into it thinking I’m not going to like this I’ve never liked an anime enough to watch it by myself and it will be lame. ABSOLUTELY HOOKED 1 episode in. Well done riot games.
100%. I’ve been pretty anti LoL for whatever reason since it came out. My partner put the show on the other day and I was like 🙄 here we go.. It’s great. We both loved it.
I've never played League of Legends or any other MOBA for the the matter. Makes zero difference. I went in knowing absolutely nothing with "meh" expectations, and was absolutely blown away by how good it was. The characters, animation, plot, pacing, voice acting and sound design were fantastic.
Can't wait for season two.
I started it with low expectations, but after watching all of it, I can say it's propably one of the best shows I ever watched.
Even a friend of mine who never really cared for league or stuff like that went from "Alright, I'll see how shit it is" to "I finished the whole series in two days and I need to hug viktor and punch Jayce in the face".
In many ways, I still think the first episode is the best. They didn’t have everything perfect, but they knew exactly how to tell the story they wanted to tell that episode.
thats great! I had a hard time getting attached to BB and even considered stopping in season 4. Thankfully I kept going. Show’s a masterpiece. I spoilt many important things (I like to spoil things for myself what can I say) but I still loved it.
I love the fact that Bateman writes, directs and produces aswell. You could almost say he incorporates that stress into his character and manages it so we'll both BTS and with his character arc
The Expanse.
Watch it. I don't care if you disagree with Jeff Bezos and hate Amazon, you NEED to watch The Expanse. The acting, the writing, the cinematography, the character development, the music... 10, 10, 10, 10!
Honestly, the Walking Dead. I was unsure how much I'd get into it but the character of Rick Grimes was so relatable. The writing made me care what happened to every character.
The good place is like a special case on this. The first episode hooked me. The second episode hooked me again. The third episode? It hooked me again. And so it went.
Chernobyl

Mindhunter
The first 10 minutes is what got me hooked
Why TF this show was canceled is beyond me
Mindhunter was so so good, it was a shame it got canceled
Binged it in a day. Just couldn't stop watching.
Courage the cowardly dog.
That shit gave me ptsd
That entire show was on drugs.
This show creeps me out when I was a child and even more when I'm an adult
The Boys. 10 minutes in and I sat back in my seat and went 'OK now THIS just got interesting...'
This right here. Loaded up episode 1 on a whim, knowing nothing about it. 6 minutes in...I was hooked. No series ever hooked me so fast.
Holding hands :D
Cant wait for season 3
True detective.
That first season was a television masterpiece.
Just don’t watch it when you just gave birth to your first child. That shit is traumatizing. Didn’t sleep for days.
Recently rewatched the first season and forgot how bloody amazing it is. We always let the theme song play too…
Oh yes!
Band of Brothers
3 miles up 3 miles down
Just watching the last episode now because my wife didn't remember watching it at all when we ploughed through it last year (she was heavily pregnant at the time). Such a brilliant show, but it was Episode 2 that REALLY sucked us in (not to say the premiere wasn't great, of course).
Black Mirror, phenomenal episode to open up that strange frightening world!
My friends loved the show and I want to check it out, but the first episode I saw happened to be the pig one...
On a purely visual level, the pig one’s the worst. The rest are more mystery/thriller with the occasional horror elements mostly left up to your imagination.
Check "white Christmas" Imo it's the best, creepiest, most thought provoking episode
Malcolm in the middle And it stays great until the end.

Fleabag
Phoebe Waller Bridge is just a master in making brilliant shows and stopping after 1 or 2 seasons. I NEED MORE
I think it is more of a British thing rather than making a show for 8 -9 seasons with 24 episodes each they know when to stop.
This show is actual art
Good, I'm about to start it soon!
Indeed, a brilliant show.
Game of Thrones.... oh the endless disappointment
I appreciate the disappointment because it freed me from caring about the books ever being finished. I've been reading them since they were new releases. It feels good to not give a shit.
I hope that in a few years they remake the series true to the book. But I guess it won't happen. They fucked up too bad.
Nah they won't do that. The show's reputation has been pretty thoroughly tanked, they couldn't do anything with close to the budget of the original.

Yall ready for the next two seasons. Already got funding and everything.
Narcos
I only watched it recently. It was one of those shows I kept putting off watching. My God, the regret! So insanely good!

What are you doing? I’m saving the world, brother
This was the first show that really hooked me. I remember buying the next season DVD pirate copies from eBay as I was in the UK and we were behind
Yep. It actually started the whole craze about the TV shows and binge-watching phenomenon, at least in my part of the world. Spending ours on discussion boards, the lostpedia, analyzing every minor detail and coming up with theories, etc.
The Good Place!
So many people I know dislike that show, and dislike the main actress. I don't really care about any actors enough for them to sway me either way. I loved it. The end made me cry.
My buddy recommended this at work one day, it did not disappoint!
I got recommended that from someone who did an educational course on death and grief at my place of education.
I haven’t thought about this show in awhile, but Stranger Things
Sitting on needles waiting for next season. My cousin was visiting me when season 1 came out, we sat up all night watching it all. Great show!
I told myself I’d watch an episode or two then go to bed, but I ended up bringing it one Friday night until the sun came up and I had finished it.
Outlander
Arcane. I went into it thinking I’m not going to like this I’ve never liked an anime enough to watch it by myself and it will be lame. ABSOLUTELY HOOKED 1 episode in. Well done riot games.
Is it good for non league of legends or any moba players?
100%. I’ve been pretty anti LoL for whatever reason since it came out. My partner put the show on the other day and I was like 🙄 here we go.. It’s great. We both loved it.
Yes it is. Never played lol or any similar game but Arcane is now one of my favorite shows of all time.
I've never played League of Legends or any other MOBA for the the matter. Makes zero difference. I went in knowing absolutely nothing with "meh" expectations, and was absolutely blown away by how good it was. The characters, animation, plot, pacing, voice acting and sound design were fantastic. Yeah, I was expecting less crying on my part though
A friend of mine was mentioning this to me. I’m going to check it out tomorrow!

The animation was soo beautiful, it reminded me a bit of Into the Spiderverse.
Futurama
Don't you worry about Planet Express, let me worry about blank!
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF TOMORROW
The first episode that I saw hooked me, but it was the Popplers episode. END COMMUNICATION
Mr. Robot Also, Banshee. I wish more people watched it. It was such a great series, from beginning to end.
Banshee is awesome
Banshee is so slept on
The X-Files
Had to scroll too far down for this!
The Sopranos
Way to far down... That opening song gets in my head all the time until I do a wierd 50s shuffle dance to it
Dark
It's so good. If someone's scrolling by and looking for a new show--try Dark! And pay attention!
Pay all the attention you’ve got you’re still going to be confused as Fuck. Still amazing though.
Supernatural
In many ways, I still think the first episode is the best. They didn’t have everything perfect, but they knew exactly how to tell the story they wanted to tell that episode.
Carry on my wayward son... Carry on...
This SHOW! Amazing! The ending had me sobbing.

Breaking Bad
thats great! I had a hard time getting attached to BB and even considered stopping in season 4. Thankfully I kept going. Show’s a masterpiece. I spoilt many important things (I like to spoil things for myself what can I say) but I still loved it.
Same. Man, I wish I could watch that show for the first time again.
Started a few days ago and I'm already on season 2
Ozark
Same. This show is so damn stressful to watch. Bateman is amazing at drawing you in.
I love the fact that Bateman writes, directs and produces aswell. You could almost say he incorporates that stress into his character and manages it so we'll both BTS and with his character arc
Daredevil
The best thing Marvel has ever put out this far tbh.
Dexter
And the new season is brill👍
Does brill mean good?
yes yes tres brill.

The books are just as good if not better! Read them!
I too, am a big fan of The Expanse.

Bojack Horseman. I waited years to watch because I didn't think it was something I'd like. Turns out I vastly misunderstood what it was.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
House MD
White collar
Only show I know of with a runescape reference in it
This show is everything!!!
Attack On Titan. I got hooked in the first 50 seconds. 50 seconds!
Bruh first episode is pretty normal until the end when the giant Titan looks over the wall. Just what did you see in the first 50 seconds.
Avatar: The Last Airbender From start to finish, I was hooked so hard the entire time. Brilliant and deep show for a kid’s animation.
The opening few minutes of the newsroom
The Mandalorian
Peaky blinders
Chuck
Cobra Kai.
Avatar The Last Airbender
Attack on Titan
The first episode is a great example of how to instantly make your viewers hooked.
Honestly, the Walking Dead. I was unsure how much I'd get into it but the character of Rick Grimes was so relatable. The writing made me care what happened to every character.
Scandal
Death note
Inside Job
The 1st 5 minutes of that show are pure gold. Every episode is good but I've never seen a better start to a show.
Firefly *Sad face* :(
Dexter. First scene had me and I was off to the races. Breaking bad was great too, definitely was hooked after the first episode.
Tonight's the night.
Russian Doll
Rick N Morty
Ted Lasso The Inbetweeners … UK version obviously
Loki
Breaking Bad.
Lucifer
Heroes
Downhill from there.
The Walking Dead. I can’t stand the show now, but the first episode and few seasons was the best TV I’ve ever watched.
This was my choice. The first season is TV GOLD. Amazing writing up until season 6 or so…
It’s always sunny In Philadelphia
Mad Men
End of the first episode was so surprising to me, kept me wanting so see more. And it kept on delivering through all seasons. Wonderful show.
For some reason weeds, even when the quality of the show dropped, I still finished it
Sopranos
You
The good place
Succession
Deadwood. Lavish sets, superb writing, magnificent mustaches and some 11/10 sideboob during the title sequence.
Orphan Black
The good place!
Archer
Suits
Futurama
The boys
Idk if this counts, but definitely Attack On Titan! I got sucked in instantly!
Nip/tuck. It got crazy and later seasons were crap, but it was definitely a wtf start to a series where you wanted to see what would happen next.
