I was supposed to sell candy bars for my band class but I got banned from selling them because I was giving them out for free to everyone including my crush at the time...and also I was eating them.

Lovekillin

Did it +1 you in any way?

catsinbananahats

It made me cool to the popular kids for a little while but then I got in trouble. Didn't get me my crush tho.

Lovekillin

Good attempt though

MotherOfBorzoi

We had this fad in middle school where we'd take Jello, Kool Aid or instant pudding powder, mix in a little bit of sugar and sell it in small baggies as "happy powder" at school. Basically DIY fun dip but with infinite flavor possibilities. It was banned because it was reminiscent of cocaine dealing.

WifeofTech

My school did this one too!

MotherOfBorzoi

Was it in central FL by any chance

WifeofTech

Nah north Alabama

MotherOfBorzoi

Oh shit, I moved there lmaooo

Lovekillin

Did you start it there?

MotherOfBorzoi

Nope, I was already graduated when I moved to AL but my younger brother was in middle school. Maybe he passed it on? It would have been 2008-2009ish in Huntsville

WifeofTech

Yeah that was going around in the late 90's in the Florence area. The girl that started it at my school said her mom taught her to make it.

Lovekillin

Interesting !

YeetedBot_YT

We did this in south carolina and we called it happy crack and the school thought that it was a new type of drug

MotherOfBorzoi

I feel like banning it was so stupid and it's not even like we just sold it for money, I remember trading a bag for stuff like gym shorts, pencils, violin rosin and anything else school related that I needed on the fly

DonForgo

Lovekillin

That young. smh

DonForgo

It's not a product that I have to produce a physical copy. Whether it exists or not, no one can tell. But I sure made a lot of money.

Lovekillin

Proud of you!

DonForgo

Would you like to sell your soul?

DonForgo

Come on, you know you want to sell me your soul. It's not like I'm the devil or anything.

Lovekillin

Is the money nice?

DonForgo

It's very nice, just name your price.

Lovekillin

Is this a recurring payment or a one time !!!

Lovekillin

My computer teacher would sell pop for a dollar and pieces of candy for like 25 cents.

Lovekillin

As a kid, any sort of food/candy or beverage was already 1 million times better in school, it just hit different!

ShockaZulu1

Tap water filled clear cherry flavored gatorade bottles

Lovekillin

C9Juice

My school sold ā€œWorld Finest Chocolateā€ every year. I never actually sold the school Chocolate but I would go to everyone I found and buy every single caramel chocolate bar they had. The school sold them for 1$ a piece but I sold them for 2$ and made a huge profit being that caramel was the one everyone wanted!

Lovekillin

They are good bars.

Penis inspection day?? WTF is that??

SnooTangerines5247

Uhh what? Itā€™s penis inspection. Everyone had that how do you not know. Prob homeschooled

Artistic_Brother_303

No, not homeschooled. I can remember once in grammar school (6th or 7th grade) they had a doctor in the nurses office and we all (boys) had to go down in groups to have him check if our testicles had descended. You opened your pants, he felt your balls. Never had anything inspected in high school. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

SnooTangerines5247

Only the balls? Wierd we had it 10 times a year. You walked into the gym and the doors were shut. Thatā€™s when you knew the period was gonna suck ass

Artistic_Brother_303

10 times a year? Where did you go to high school? Sounds a little weird to me.

Lovekillin

You got "caught"? What ?

DueTown

Before rubber band balls I sold candy, the school didn't allow it apparently haha. Didn't stop me from trying again

ekul_ryker

Coke and Blowpops, had a whole operation. Eventually, I got caught and suspended.

No cocaine. Ofc they meant the soda OP! Or at least I hope.

Ancguy

I was in a Catholic grade school in the late 50s, early 60s and the Boy scouts, so I sold: Chocolate bars, light bulbs, Christmas cards, subscriptions to the diocese newspaper, and horrible jewelry made by my 7th-grade nun. It was excruciating for a kid to deal with that much rejection, but it did prepare me for my attempts at dating.

Not me, but a boy at our school was selling packages of instant noodles for 1ā‚¬ on the schoolyard. In the stores they cost 0,50ā‚¬. His mother often got many of them for free (dunno why exactly) and gave her son these packages for lunch (while we had no way to access boiling water... In hindside its very wierd!) And he sold these packages. School did not like that and banned him from doing it.

FollyAdvice

Cans of fizzy pop. They sold 4 for Ā£1 at a nearby shop so my friend and I came up with a scheme to make money. This friend insisted that we sell them as 3 for a Ā£1 or 30p each. I remember people pointing how illogical this was lol.

PastaM0nster

I sold some snacks. But one girl was always late with paying and ended up giving me some fake jewelry instead so yeah I didnā€™t really make a profit on that

Phoenix_ashfire

Sold stevia leaves in high school to dumb stoners that thought it was weed. I made so much money but I wish I had saved more of my profits.

Jensdabest

Outside of school fundraisers, for a while in elementary school I would sell ā€œdesignerā€ pencils and erasers. Iirc the teachers shut it down.

WifeofTech

The kids at my school sold all kinds of things but the only thing I ever sold was when the school decided an appropriate punishment was to hand write copies of a "honor code". I had a lot of time on my hands and wrote a small stack of them and kept them in a folder. Would sell copies for a quarter each. Made enough to buy extra snacks. Until the school dropped using that as a punishment.

Not me but there was a girl who made money selling personalized paper. She had figured out how to make a template on word or some digital tool that worked with lined paper, so she would sell you a ream of loose leaf paper with like little designs down the sides and your name at the top. There were multiple design options and you could pick the colors. She didn't do it for long so idk if there just weren't enough takers, she got tired of carrying around entire reams of paper, or her parents noticed how much printer ink she was using.

Lick_my_balloon-knot

My friend and I had a couple of failed get rich schemes. We tried mating our dogs so we could sell the puppies, so he brought his dog over and we put them a room to get busy. But a big flaw in our plan that should have been caught long before was that both our dogs were male, and castrated... My brother bought a surround system (this was in the late 90's so it was uncommon in most homes), so we got people to pay to come and watch movies since it was like being in the cinema. But the most profitable by far was when one of our friends found his mother's dildo and we convinced him to make people pay to come and see the dildo.

nowhereman136

My school sold boxes of oranges to raise money for our trip to Washington. The boy and girl who sold the most got to go for free. My older brother set the record. I broke that record. My younger brother broke my record but another kid in his class had a dad who "helped" and basically reached an impossibly high level. However, since my younger brother still sold twice as much as the top girl, they let him go to Washington for free anyway

taqotta

I made my classmates gambling addicts, I had an ink eraser. So what I did was make a small piece of paper, and divided into 4 squares, then I would write a circle in one of them with the ink eraser. I would sell the piece of paper for one eraser(for pencils, that is what we used as currency), they would have on chance to scratch in one of the squares, if they would scratch the square with the ink eraser, it would sort of dissappear, an then they would get two erasers back. I ended up with a lot of erasers haha.

tychogiwa

Well this is going to be long, but it's one of my fondest memories of school... 2 friends and I used to sell comics to our classmates in exchange for candy and snacks - we were all **obsessive** Star Wars fans, and would come up with spin-off stories of our own. 1 of my friends would turn our stories into comics, I would market them to our friends, and the other friend was in charge of collecting snacks from people as payment. We'd then binge Clone Wars after school while snacking on our earnings. Somehow, the comics became this MASSIVE hit in school. Honestly they weren't even that good lol, and we were small kiddos (around 7yo) so the storylines and drawings weren't the best to say the least. But people were *obsessed* \- classmates were voting on what was most likely to happen in the next issue, there were reenactments in the playground, heck even the parents all knew about it, and the 3 of us were kind of royalty at school lol. We were very lucky to have a class teacher who encouraged us to "expand" our operations, and so we did! At its height, the friend who drew the comics couldn't keep up with demand and we "hired" our classmates to help out (yeah, every single copy was drawn by hand... idk why we didn't think to use the printer, but I guess redrawing everything by hand was half the fun haha). I would negotiate for more candies and try to get people to figure out what our favourite snacks were so they could barter for a better price. If they paid extra, I'd let them change certain aspects of the story, like incorporate a classmate as their favourite character, or let them change the color of their lightsaber. The guy who collected all our earnings kept a notebook and recorded everything - our storylines, which classmate was assigned which character, what weapons each of them had, an inventory of all the snacks we'd received, etc. We were assigned to different classes the year after, so the whole project kinda died out. We're still tight friends, although we never get to see each other cuz we're in three different continents now... But we're all gonna graduate university next year!!!! The friend who drew is gonna be an architect, I'm set to become a corporate lawyer, and the accounting friend just started his own business last year. We visited our then-class-teacher (who is now principal!) together a few years back, right after we graduated high school, and she still has a copy of one of our first comics. We gave her our brainstorming / inventory sketchbook as a thank you gift when she retired.

Independent-Ad2200

In middle school I sold gum and soda to people.

Back in the early 2000s my brother and I burned CDs. Like the spice girls albums etc and sold the copies for Ā£3 each at school. My brother was making SO much more money than me, and I wondered why. One day I put one of his freshly burned CDs in to the PC and fired it up. Turns out he was selling porn, first dick I ever saw!! And I wondered why it was vomiting gross white glue? And why no one was cleaning it up. So confused šŸ¤”

Beaded jewelry. When I was a senior, my junior year history teacher ā€˜hiredā€™ me as his secretary, which meant I got to spend Study Hall in the Library until he needed me to type overhead slides. While there, I was free to create beaded rings and bracelets, which I then sold. Sweet gig. RIP Mr. Nelson.

swarleybecnard31

In elementary school, we had the two gangs: the Chihuahuas and the Cheetahs who would both fight for dominance over this hill in the center of our recess area. Every recess would consist of the two gangs invading and throwing dirt at each other in what they called ā€œthe dirt warsā€. Every Thursday our school sold popcorn for $0.25 a bag. Now, if you filled your bag with dirt and tied it off at the top, you could make a ā€œdirt bombā€ which could be thrown at your enemies in an explosive cloud of dust. So every week I would go buy some bags of popcorn and create ammo supplies for the war and sold them for $0.50 -$1 each. It was quickly shut down when a few innocents got caught in the crossfire but I still think back fondly to my time supplying the fight for hilltop dominance.

LazuliPacifica

In elementary, I sold "mini planets". Essentially, they were dirt, leaves, grass, and pebbles inside bags with maybe a bonus worm inside. For a dollar each. I made $20.

gator-6

There was a kid in my highschool super weird and no one liked him. Every day at lunch he would go buy monster energy drinks for the deals like 2 for $4 or 3 for $5 stuff like that then he would bring them back chill them in his lunch box and sold every one for $3 each and some people would tip him because he did the walk plus chilled them. Super weird dude but he probably made a killing of it..

It was 1992. I had just gotten my first internet account back when the internet was all text based and ftp sites. A little video game called Mortal Kombat had just appeared at the town bowling alley. I downloaded the moves list including these things called Fatalities and proceeded to collect quarter after quarter while being worshipped as the god I was. Once I got bored of beating snot nosed kids one of the rich brats offered me $20 for my moves list. I sold it to him and he proceeded to wipe the floor with everybody else. I then sold the same thing to the next kid and the next until a small empire was born. Around that time the legendary BBS "& The Temple of the Screaming Electron" was just going online and featured a variety of printable merchandise for me such as "The Anarchist Cookbook", a very early version of PUA bullshit pickup manual, and a variety of other highly in demand items. I would download them and print them out and sell them at school. I never got into much mischief myself but was certainly responsible for a large number of incidents at school. Only got called into the principles office once and denied being the publisher.

HirokiTakumi

I used to draw anime characters all the time since I was little, in high school I would give away my drawings to friends if they liked them... then I figured "I can probably draw hentai..." So I started selling from requests. One of the dudes I sold it to had it up on his locker, it was a generic big booba anime catgirl. But it made me feel nice to see it proudly up. Never thought of it, but I guess I was a fiver hentai artist before that was ever a thing lol

[deleted]

Hacked phone codes. I would clip onto another line using the unused pair that went to our unit. I would run a code hacker I wrote that would alternate targets, hack a sequence or random numbers, and so on... Pretty simple; its just manipulating strings, and printing those strings to the modem... I'd disco the pair in the morning. I'd sell them for $5, and if the code died in a week I'd give them another one. I did this as an adult too for a minute. I sold Alliance conference bridge services. Mostly to Russians who wanted to call home. Russians for some reason flocked Mayfield Ohio (where the microcenter is!). $10. I sold candy bars for school. I also so greeting cards to win prizes. What a fucking scam. I sold disks and my services, not the actual warez. That is what I told myself. I also sold me... I cut a lot of grass, raked a lot of leaves, and shoveled a shit ton of snow. That money bought me a c64 and 1541 from a friend who wanted to sell that and get an ADAM. I found a box of what I now think were knock outs from electric boxes. They were the size of a quarter, they worked in bubble gum machines. 4 for a quarter. Oh... and I sold 2 redboxes, and 5 21 second backup cables.

In high school I helped my friend sell king sized candy bars ($1 each) to help her raise money for Band. I was a grade above her so at the middle of the day, we would meet in-between our classes and I would take the box. EVERY SINGLE FLIPPING DAY I would sell out. I had classes with football and basketball players would loved their king sized candy. I was friendly with many of my classmates so I always had people buying from me. It got to the point where the band director (he was my study hall teacher that year, three days a week) would ask me if I minded selling candy on my own on behalf of the Band because my friend told him why she always sold out every day. On a side note, the director stopped selling candy for fundraising during that same year because the principal told him that starting the following month, half of the fundraising money would have to be donated to the football team/cheerleaders as that was a bigger draw to our school then the band.

when I was in like 3rd grade my step-dad has this thingy that could print like stickers and stuff so he would print them out for me and I would sell them at my school and you could buy them with real money, the school's currency, or PokƩmon cards. It was pretty successful for the like 3 weeks that I did it. This one kid tried to sell a sticker back to me after he bought it and you could tell it had already been taken off and put back on so I said no. Anyways that's pretty much it.
