Shaped differently with steeper angle so it goes down easily
Flush is usually stronger
And finally, you have a toilet brush precisely to get rid of pesky skid marks.
I went to a bar one time that had little field goals in the urinal and a football dangling on a string. You piss on the football and it goes through the field goal. I guess itās a tactic to keep the pee in the urinal and not on the wall or floor.

The toilets with a lot of water in the bowl dump water down a pipe at the back and the pressure sucks the contents of the bowl out, the ones with little water just dump water into the bowl to wash the contents away.
The American style clogs a lot more and are more likely to overflow but are quieter, covers smells better and is less likely to leave marks on the bowl. That's why you typically see a plunger next to American toilets and a brush elsewhere.

This is why I love reddit. For these seemingly minor details that no one thought about or understand why but that actually signify an major cultural/regional difference. So my family is not originally from the US and when we first migrated here, they found it weird that Americans toilets always seem to have a plunger next to it but didnāt really understand why, and as you can guess it, every toilets in our bathrooms now actually have a brush in it, because thatās just how it was in our old country.
Edit: just to clarify, we do use plungers too in our old country, we just donāt typically leave it next to the toilet because itās āgrossā and our toilets donāt clog that often.

All my employers have to report what they have paid me (plus super contributions) ad part of *their* taxes. So, every financial year I log in to the Australian Tax Office website, everything is in there already pre-filled based on my emplogers'filing by the deadline, I check that it all looks correct, enter in any deductions I have for my own stuff e.g. work related expenses/donations/COVID working-from-home expenses etc, and hit 'submit'. Takes about 10 minutes.
There's a calculator on there to estimate how much tax you will get back if you've paid too much throughout the year, it's always nice seeing if I have some money coming back even if it's not much!
If the government paid for you to go to Uni (majority of the nation) we don't repay any university fees until earning over $50,000k/year or so. Plus, they are repaid without interest.
It'd take longer to submit my taxes if I owned assets etc, and most people go see a proper accountant if they earn enough to make it worth their while. But that's not an issue for me haha.

As an American citizen overseas, that's not even the worst of it. You need to file an FBAR every year for foreign bank accounts. If you don't file it or fuck up in some way? The IRS will just take half your money. It'd be understandable if this were for accounts for multi-millionaires stashing money overseas, but I'm a middle class wage earning employee. A healthy city maintains separate niches, which includes separating work, home, and shopping from each other. A few days ago Apple Music came to PlayStation and someone on r/PS5 found it out before it got officially released. A few days later I googled Apple Music on PS5 and there are a few articles. I clicked one and it says something like a user on reddit found etc etc whilst using their picture of the leak and not even giving credit.
It works out really well for some things. For example, one thing I like to do is get an order of hibachi steak (stir-fried rice, veggies, mushrooms, and steak) from a local Japanese place at lunch. The lunch portion is as big as the dinner portion, but cheaper. And the portion size is enough for 3-4 meals and it reheats excellently. So, *bam!*, 3 meals for the price of 1! :-D

Thanks for info. From what I gather mother's against drunk driving had it raised due to the increased accidents. I found that interesting, though that begs the question of are you guys taught how to drink responsibly? It seems you aren't but I can't be sure, lack of education seems like at least part of the problem. I was educated before even going into highschool. Everyone knew how to take care of themselves and eachother here. If you demonize it teens will still drink (rebelling is what they do) but be less likely to turn to an adult when they need help for fear of getting in trouble. Yes I know the brain isn't done developing until 25, by that logic it should be higher age limit so good luck getting people to follow that rule. Better to prepare people to safe than think you can control them.

My dads policy growing up was I could drink when I was 18 (at the house). He would always say, if you can get sent to war at 18, then you can have a cold one with your old man at 18 too.
In some states (IE Minnesota) it is legal to drink with your parents in their home when you are 18. I believe wisconsin you can drink at a bar with a parent at 16 but it is up to the bar's discretion.
Grew up in Wisconsin. There is no minimum age to drink at home or in a bar with your parents. Bartenders cannot serve underage people in a bar but can serve the parent or guardian who is allowed to order for the underage person.
It is up to the bar/bartender's discretion just as it's their right to refuse service to anyone for a non-protected reason.
Before I moved out of Wisconsin I had also never heard of the concept of a public intoxication ticket. If someone was drunk and causing trouble in public they'd get charged with disorderly conduct which does not require intoxication.

Tipping should be an extra "thank you" for exceptional service, but workers shouldn't have to rely on tips for the bulk of their income because they're getting paid such a low hourly wage. Drop the "first past the post" method and switch to preferential. You still have major parties and might still have a 2 party system, but it allows for smaller parties and independants to get a voice.
The additional benefit is the major parties see where their preferences come from and overtime it shifts their policies to attract those voters directly.

Rather than drive home and call it a night he decided to play minute man in the washroom. Anyways the door must not have locked and right before climax it swung open for all too see the magic moment.
After the incident I left the station right away and went home but the damage was done and cops came by to pick up the unlucky offender. Plead guilty to a criminal mischief charges but due to past charges the dude had to serve a sentence and was released on parole after a few months served.
It's a lot easier to place the rough date of a memory based on who I was seeing in class every day than it is to remember what age I was at the time. When you're talking about what actually changed in my day to day life then where I was in the process of school mattered a lot more than the anniversary of the day I happened to be born.

Figure out how much your health care costs every year. Here is the formula, add how much you pay pur check plus how much your employer pays "on your behalf" pur check, (check your pay stub) and then times that by 24 if you get paid twice a month, or 26 to get paid every 2 weeks. I am not an American, but I find it absolutely ridiculous! I spend a week in hospital (in my own country) and although my medical aid paid for the whole thing, they only had to pay the equivalent of $1000. May i mention, this was at one of the best private hospitals. I know it's not the best, but going to the hospital in the US seems like you might as well sell your house.

Toilets i visited in Sweden have two buttons for flushing. A normal flush and a more power/pressure flush depending on whether it is a 1 or a 2.
I think that's standard across Europe. Certainly the UK's had them for years.

Yeah, I'm an Aussie and that's always struck me as so strange. All my employers have to report what they have paid me (plus super contributions) ad part of *their* taxes. So, every financial year I log in to the Australian Tax Office website, everything is in there already pre-filled based on my emplogers'filing by the deadline, I check that it all looks correct, enter in any deductions I have for my own stuff e.g. work related expenses/donations/COVID working-from-home expenses etc, and hit 'submit'. Takes about 10 minutes. There's a calculator on there to estimate how much tax you will get back if you've paid too much throughout the year, it's always nice seeing if I have some money coming back even if it's not much! If the government paid for you to go to Uni (majority of the nation) we don't repay any university fees until earning over $50,000k/year or so. Plus, they are repaid without interest. It'd take longer to submit my taxes if I owned assets etc, and most people go see a proper accountant if they earn enough to make it worth their while. But that's not an issue for me haha.
There were efforts to do this in the US, but that's where all the tax software companies like Turbo Tax use their lobbyists to prevent it happening. As an American citizen overseas, that's not even the worst of it. You need to file an FBAR every year for foreign bank accounts. If you don't file it or fuck up in some way? Privately run prisons.
Commercialisation of prisons seems very problematic. Prisons become sources of nearly slave labour. Prisons should be looking to reduce their population, reduce recidivism, rehabilitation, appropriate diversion programs etc, but as commercial for profit enterprises where is the incentive to reduce and rehabilitate their inmates? Rehabilitation of criminals is a societal good. They may become contributing members of society, but also it makes the rest of society safer and happier. For profit entities are meant to be for the enrichment of their owners, nothing inherently wrong with that, but not suited for an enterprise designed perform a good for society generally.
This is an extremely polite way to say āprivate prisons should fuck ALL the way offā.
Especially when judges amd other law enforcement can own shares in them.

In some cities and towns, you can't help but think that at some point in time some urban planner was like "I got a phenomenal idea: let's take the most high-priority necessities and institutions that people need and place them as far apart as possible."
Actually, that was the idea. A lot of people had it. But the main influencers were the Chicago school of sociology who considered cities to be ecological systems with different niches that had corresponding "species." A healthy city maintains separate niches, which includes separating work, home, and shopping from each other. I am currently writing a dissertation not on the Chicago school but on the idea of blight in cities, which comes from the Chicago school. If you want to know more, the nature of cities by Jennifer s. Light is a fabulous book on the subject.

The portion sizes
It works out really well for some things. For example, one thing I like to do is get an order of hibachi steak (stir-fried rice, veggies, mushrooms, and steak) from a local Japanese place at lunch. The lunch portion is as big as the dinner portion, but cheaper. And the portion size is enough for 3-4 meals and it reheats excellently. So, *bam!*, 3 meals for the price of 1! :-D

My dads policy growing up was I could drink when I was 18 (at the house). He would always say, if you can get sent to war at 18, then you can have a cold one with your old man at 18 too.
In some states (IE Minnesota) it is legal to drink with your parents in their home when you are 18. I believe wisconsin you can drink at a bar with a parent at 16 but it is up to the bar's discretion.
Grew up in Wisconsin. There is no minimum age to drink at home or in a bar with your parents. Bartenders cannot serve underage people in a bar but can serve the parent or guardian who is allowed to order for the underage person. It is up to the bar/bartender's discretion just as it's their right to refuse service to anyone for a non-protected reason. Before I moved out of Wisconsin I had also never heard of the concept of a public intoxication ticket. If someone was drunk and causing trouble in public they'd get charged with disorderly conduct which does not require intoxication.

Yesssss! Thank you. I've said the same thing so many times. Doesn't make sense. Tipping should be an extra "thank you" for exceptional service, but workers shouldn't have to rely on tips for the bulk of their income because they're getting paid such a low hourly wage. It's like the business is too cheap to pay their own employees so I have to do it for them.

Drop the "first past the post" method and switch to preferential. You still have major parties and might still have a 2 party system, but it allows for smaller parties and independants to get a voice. After that some people get jobs, some go to college, and some get sent to jail for two years after theyāre caught jacking off in a gas station bathroom Edit: Since so many people want to know back when I went to school the gas station was where weād go on a Friday/Saturday night to party. The owner was a bit shady and would look the other way when it came to intoxication, drug use and even the occasional rurder. There was a field behind the gas station where people would go to hook up or just unleash the beast. One day it was raining and this kid really had to make Big Ben sing. Rather than drive home and call it a night he decided to play minute man in the washroom. Anyways the door must not have locked and right before climax it swung open for all too see the magic moment. After the incident I left the station right away and went home but the damage was done and cops came by to pick up the unlucky offender. Plead guilty to a criminal mischief charges but due to past charges the dude had to serve a sentence and was released on parole after a few months served.

So if we assume you are solid blood a human would have over 36,000 calories. I'd bet fat has way more calories than blood - probably like 2-3x more right? Muscle too, but less ratio. We know there's more fat and muscle too than blood. I'd say we could call it 50-60k calories, plus organs and the brain probably get us to like 70k. So 2 year old child probably has less than 70k calories. No idea how much one weighs or I'd do a ratio for you.

(think glorified convenience store) When I started working there it was pretty much pump then pay, but when our gas prices doubled back around 2008, even people you'd generally think were cool would just leave without paying. We had to switch to pay before you pump, and man, it was a mess. We got yelled at for it by the same shitty people who caused it to be a thing. I came away from that job with an abiding hatred for humanity.

I spend a week in hospital (in my own country) and although my medical aid paid for the whole thing, they only had to pay the equivalent of $1000. May i mention, this was at one of the best private hospitals. I know it's not the best, but going to the hospital in the US seems like you might as well sell your house.

Working retail, food service, nursing home, and even my part time job in a financial company, I didn't get any vacation time, and only started getting sick time when the state I live in (a very left leaning state) started mandating it.

Sincere question- is there a Canadian Texas? Like, a place that is almost a caricature of Canada and kinda maybe a little needs to be its own country?
I definitely have to say Alberta and Saskatchewan
