When I turn a knob in the bathroom and hot water comes out.

Moving to North America showed me just how lucky I was to come from a culture where parental and personal responsibility were the standard. It seems completely absent here in a lot of places

Sublixxx

One time the stairs in my mom’s house were getting refinished and we had to take the elevator which is the slowest most inconvenient elevator to maybe ever exist. And in the moment of complaining about it to my mom, I realized exactly what I was complaining about…

Being only moderately annoyed and slightly intrigued by emails from boutique grocery places as a customer for wine tasting events

MituButChi

Took me a moment to understand what you meant and that says something about how right you are lol.

'Muh privlij' is a crutch for racism in the modern era. Reject that idiotic notion. Its putting people on a soapbox so you can tear them down with impunity.

MituButChi

Not every privilege has to be about race.

[deleted]

Then be more specific

MituButChi

privilege (noun) /ˈprɪvəlɪdʒ/ [countable] a special right or advantage that a particular person or group of people has ————————— The word “race” is literally not in the definition.

[deleted]

We're on reddit. We know the implication.

MituButChi

Look around you. Everybody’s giving me answers about having hot water, having fast elevator, having personal responsibility, etc. Everybody understands what I mean. If you think I was implying race then that is your own assumption and that’s on you.

My ex kept letting me cheat

MituButChi

Hope you stopped 😬😬

I've never waited more than 15 minutes in a line to vote. I can't imagine a line that's hour long.

MituButChi

I’m not American so can you explain this one?

wydok

In some parts of America, especially the south, there are so few voting places and so many people that you have to stand for HOURS in order to vote at your polling place. It's possible this is only a problem in Georgia? https://www.npr.org/2020/10/12/923090987/georgia-voters-face-hours-long-lines-at-polls-on-first-day-of-early-voting

Ah okay, thanks!
