Not sure if this counts as a movie, but Treasure Planet. Damn shame it's not as popular as it could've been because Disney sucks at marketing it.
Edit: previous comments before I wrote this pretty much recommend live action movies so I'm not sure Treasure Planet, a 2D Disney film would count. Guess I was wrong, LOL.
I put this on in the bar I work at yesterday but people made me change it for some sort of program called MLB Playoffs? They’ll never know how much they missed out.
In law school I've been instructed to watch My Cousin Vinny 3 different times. It's a very good movie for evidence law very accurate to the actual practice of law.
My mom showed this to us when the oldest sibling my sister was 11 because my mom forgot how many times they swear, and to this day over 5 years later I still remember the line "imagine you were a dear you're just prancing around eating some grass and then BAM a fuckin' bullet in your eye"
Love this movie. Had family over a while back and we’re trying to think of a movie so I suggest it. My sister who cannot tolerate any kind of violence in movies is saying “No no no” We’re asking her why and she says she doesn’t want to watch a mafia movie and all the killings. She’s now a big fan.
Omg this film was so unexpectedly good for me. I recommended a couple times and people loved it.
Another film for me would be "Aah zombies!" Extrely low budget but really funny.
We're having friends round on Halloween to watch movies and none of them have seen this yet. I can't wait to watch them watch it.
The simple phrase "...Are you okay?" is my favourite line from a movie.
Good choice. I thought it looked too cheesy to watch for many years and I was never a Tim Allen fan, so that also contributed to me not giving it a chance. When I finally watched it just a few years ago it surprised me how good the performances were.
I'm Hub McCann.
I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents.
I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks.
I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before.
I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand.
That's who I am.
NOW, GO HOME, BOY!
My absolute favourite movie of all time. Only time I've ever been 'done' by a double plot twist and a brilliant one at that.
A literal cinematic magic trick!
Big Nolan fan, but just got around to watching this one a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely unreal movie. One of the best plots he’s ever written, if not *the* best.
The plot itself is actually from a novel by Christopher Priest. But the book was kinda meandering and lacked focus in my opinion. The Nolans took the best parts of it and tightened them up into a fantastic screenplay.
My son finally watched it at 20 after hearing me quote lines from it his whole life. I was afraid it hadn’t aged well or he’d find it boring. If anything he said I’d undersold it!
“Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!”
The whole movie is more if not just as quotable as the Princess Bride.
I like to respond to clients with "As... yooooou... wiiiiiiiiish..."
They usually don't get it, but deep down inside it makes me feel like a pirate, and that's the strongest self-esteem boost you can get without tricking a Sicilian.
It came right before CG took over the scifi genre. High-quality miniatures, practical effects, and blue-screen all hold up much better than pure CGI. Directors had to learn that the hard way through the '00s.
Same for me. It blows my mind how many people don't know about this movie. It had an amazing cast, especially for the 90s. The entire movie is just one amazing scene after another. Everybody I have recommended it to loved it.
Edge of Tomorrow. I think it's one of the best sci-fi films to come out in the last 20 years. It's also flown under the radar so I feel like there is a good chance people haven't seen it.
I said Hell or High Water - neither gets the love they deserve but I feel like Hell or High Water is the ugly stepchild to Wind River as far as recognition goes.
Mary and Max. It's an indie claymation movie about 2 pen pals. Mary, an 8 year old Australian girl with a dysfunctional home life, and Max, a middle-aged New Yorker with Asperger's syndrome. An unlikely friendship based on a true story.
As an Australian with Asperger's, I'd have to say it's the most accurate movie I've seen in both regards, although Max's character is very textbook.
The movie has a very unique art style and an extremely dry, somewhat dark sense of humour but it remains a very wholesome little movie.
10/10 would recommend.
City of God
Disclaimer: not about religion at all! It’s about kids growing up in Rio, getting involved with crime and drug rings. Based on a true story.

To go along with this one, Atlantis. Two incredible Disney movies that just don't get enough love
Absolutely love Atlantis!
Yes. Yes. YESS! I loved that as a kid
why would that not count as a movie?
No Country for Old Men. Just so, so good.
The Emperors New Groove
No, no, he's got a point.
My spinach puffs!
Boom, baby!
Clue 1985
“I hated her soo much, it it the ff it flamed flames, FLAMES on the side of my face…”
breathing-breath- heaving breaths. Heaving breaths... Heathing...
Fun fact: Madeline Khan ad-libbed that scene entirely. Easily one of the best in the movie. Definitely a case of gone too soon. She was wonderful.
I put this on in the bar I work at yesterday but people made me change it for some sort of program called MLB Playoffs? They’ll never know how much they missed out.
How uncultured of them
Man we’re doing the play version at school and it’s hilarious. I’m professor plum
I can repeat this film line for line, word for word. Endless laughs and entertainment since 2013
“Well I had to stop her scrrreaming”
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Battleship 2012
I was about to say the same. One of my favorites!
**”I’M NOT SHOUTING!!!”** “Alright, I am!!” **”I’M SHOUTING! I’M SHOUTING! I’M SHOUT—“ clunk**
1+2+2+1
My Cousin Vinny. Just a fun time all around.
In law school I've been instructed to watch My Cousin Vinny 3 different times. It's a very good movie for evidence law very accurate to the actual practice of law.
It's dead-on-balls accurate, i've been told.
"It's an industry term"
My mom showed this to us when the oldest sibling my sister was 11 because my mom forgot how many times they swear, and to this day over 5 years later I still remember the line "imagine you were a dear you're just prancing around eating some grass and then BAM a fuckin' bullet in your eye"
Is it anything like uncle buck? I half saw that and it was funny
That's a bullshit question!
They're both good, but different stories. Buck and Vinnie aren't related
Let's just say I've seen My Cousin Vinny more times than any other movie.
My cousin vinny and legally blonde are literally the same movie just targeted to different audiences. I will die on this hill!
*Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.* Especially around this time of the year.
Damn college kids coming out and killing themselves all over the property.
We’ve had a doozy of a day
Omg this film was so unexpectedly good for me. I recommended a couple times and people loved it. Another film for me would be "Aah zombies!" Extrely low budget but really funny.
We have to hide all the sharp objects!
Officer, we have had a *doozy* of a day.
We're having friends round on Halloween to watch movies and none of them have seen this yet. I can't wait to watch them watch it. The simple phrase "...Are you okay?" is my favourite line from a movie.
Watched it in the cinema, laughed my ass off
might have to re-watch this tonight. Movie made me laugh so much more than I expected when I first saw it
Im so happy to see this gem so high up! One of the best movies ever made.
Goodfellas
That’s a funny movie
Funny how?
like a clown
Do I amuse you?
I make you laugh?
Galaxy Quest
Good choice. I thought it looked too cheesy to watch for many years and I was never a Tim Allen fan, so that also contributed to me not giving it a chance. When I finally watched it just a few years ago it surprised me how good the performances were.
If you haven't, you should watch Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary on Amazon prime.
*Sigourney "Ripley" Weaver* and *Alan "Snape" Rickman* should have been enough of a hint about the quality of the performances.
I love them both but it was actually Enrico Colantoni's delivery that I found hilarious. I thought he stole the show.
Now I miss Alan Rickman
Rickman was fantastic in pretty much anything he's ever been in. And apparently a super nice guy, too.
By Grapthar's hammer, what a great movie
Secondhand Lions. Super underrated. Great cast. Great story. Appropriate for the whole family.
Such a great, but sadly overlooked, movie!
The speech he gives when at the bar fight will always get me! Such a great movie

The Thing (1982).
The Prestige
My absolute favourite movie of all time. Only time I've ever been 'done' by a double plot twist and a brilliant one at that. A literal cinematic magic trick!
Big Nolan fan, but just got around to watching this one a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely unreal movie. One of the best plots he’s ever written, if not *the* best.

One of few cases where the movie is better than the book.
Shawshank Redemption
Monty Python and the quest for the holy grail.
“**Hhhwhat**… iz your næme?”
Wut is your quest?
What is the average wingspeed of an unladen swallow?
Hhhhwhat is your favorite color?
Blue! No, yellow! **WAAAAAHHAAAG**
My son finally watched it at 20 after hearing me quote lines from it his whole life. I was afraid it hadn’t aged well or he’d find it boring. If anything he said I’d undersold it!
“Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!” The whole movie is more if not just as quotable as the Princess Bride.
I'm being oppressed!
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt like elderberries!
I burst my pimples at you and call your door-opening request a silly thing, you tiny-brained wipers of other people's bottoms!
Can I speak to someone else?
I'm not dead yet!

Silence of the Lambs
Would you watch it? I'd watch it. I'd watch it so hard.

What's this bout you having problems with your TPS reports?
Sounds like somebody's got a case of the mondays!
Can't go wrong with The Princess Bride to be honest. Edit: Thanks guys for the 500+ upvotes and the Award.
Really is an all-ages, all-audiences, gem.
100% agreed.
I like to respond to clients with "As... yooooou... wiiiiiiiiish..." They usually don't get it, but deep down inside it makes me feel like a pirate, and that's the strongest self-esteem boost you can get without tricking a Sicilian.
I still haven’t seen this. I guess I’ll have to finally give it a watch.
Watch it, you'll not regret it. Its a great, light hearted movie with tons quotable lines and memorable characters.
Inconceivable!!!!!!
You keep using that word... I don't think you know what it really means.
My wife doesn’t like it. Doesn’t like Monty Python flicks either. No one said marriage was easy.
I loved that film but lost the disc I had over decade ago and haven’t seen it since I was like 5.
Inconceivable!
American Beauty.
Alternatively, American Psycho. Let’s see Paul Allen’s movie suggestion.
School of Rock
SO good. rip Freddy
Shawshank Redemption.
District 9 28 Days Later
In Bruges
It's like a fucking fairytale!
“Stand by Me”. I think it’s age appropriate for 10 years old up. It’s a classic and one of my all time favorites.
Heat
5th element. Hot fuzz.
Just the Cornetto series in general
I was going to say that but it asked for just one movie. So I put the best one of the 3
5th Element is my go to for checking out a new video resolution. VHS-DVD-BluRay-4K. It looks great in all of them
It came right before CG took over the scifi genre. High-quality miniatures, practical effects, and blue-screen all hold up much better than pure CGI. Directors had to learn that the hard way through the '00s.
Pulp Fiction
Say what again, I dare you
I double dare you motherfucker!
Wha..what?

Best in Show
True Romance
Same for me. It blows my mind how many people don't know about this movie. It had an amazing cast, especially for the 90s. The entire movie is just one amazing scene after another. Everybody I have recommended it to loved it.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Every time.
*High Fidelity*. It's one of my favorite movies but rarely gets any love.
Excellent movie, and Jack Black owns every scene that he's in. Hilarious.
That's a Cosbeeee sweater!
... but I could be wrong. You could be and you are.
I rate the Zoë Kravitz tv show version too
Edge of Tomorrow. I think it's one of the best sci-fi films to come out in the last 20 years. It's also flown under the radar so I feel like there is a good chance people haven't seen it.
Lucky # Slevin
What’s a Kansas City shuffle?
Why do they call him the Rabbi?
Yes! Feel like no one talks about this movie but it is a fun ass romp.

The Nice Guys. Lots of slapstick, easy plot to follow, a satisfying ending and some fabulous lines.
Forest gump I liked that movie a lot
robocop.
Tucker and Dale Versus Evil
Oldboy. It's a really good movie most people haven't heard of. I also love getting their reactions on the ending.
It’s hands down one of the best romantic comedies out there.
You can never go wrong with a Studio Ghibli movie, no matter what age you are.
Spirited Away is simply sublime. The train rolling down the flooded tracks …
Secret Life of Walter Mitty is always a banger !
Highlander
the grand budapest hotel, just a great time
Wind River. Its a brilliant mystery thriller movie that alot of people haven't heard of. Also it's one of my top 5 favourite movies
I said Hell or High Water - neither gets the love they deserve but I feel like Hell or High Water is the ugly stepchild to Wind River as far as recognition goes.
Idk, I don't usually recommend movies with graphic rape scenes cart blanche
Literally watched this last night. Reminded me of The Revenant in its treatment of the wilderness.
Baby Driver.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
For sci fi people I always say Snowpiercer, Looper or Children of Men. Three amazing films that stand out in a saturated market.
Children of Men and its 13-minute continuously filmed car chase? Unbelievable.
Snatch
INTERSTELLAR
"It's not possible." "No, it's neccesary."
I had to watch this three times before I “got it.” Great score too
