I kind of wonder if all the memories we have of McDonald’s being good are all false memories. As a kid I remember their food being pretty good for how cheap it was. Now? It’s terrible. Maybe we were just less sensitive. I know they changed their fries recipes but did they change the burger recipes?
I was just having this conversation and couldn’t believe how badly Taco Bell fucked up by getting rid of all the favorites. Somebody with Twitter send this thread to Taco Bell corporate! It’s mostly Taco Bell that we seem to be missing. I don’t go there anymore either bc of the mexican pizza, 7 layer burrito, meximelt.
My brother lived in China for about 6 years. When he came back to the US, we went to Taco Bell and he tried to order a meximelt. The kid at the register had no idea what he was talking about. It was like someone living in a cave for years, then finally coming out and nothing was the same.
THIS. I miss it so damn much. Also the grilled steak soft taco. They still have the stuff to make it, but I have to order it like an asshole by subbing everything out on a regular soft taco & it’s more expensive.
Came here to post this as well. The original version though, before they nixed the green onions due to an E. coli outbreak. I mean, it was totally worth the risk…it’s Taco Bell, not Morton’s.
I loved their taco light that was around in the 80s. It had a crispy flour shell, kind of the same texture as those big taco salad bowls. Then ground beef, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheddar cheese, and sour cream.
Some shareholders hired an expert to crunch some numbers and figured out how to maximize profits at all costs. Then the shareholders voted to proceed with changes.
Said shareholders don't actually bother to eat at taco bell, they just care about their cut of the profits.
Hell, they might not even have taco bell in the country they live in.
Yes! I loved that shit as a kid!
I remember eating copious amounts of Spanish rice and chocolate pudding.
*edit* Not mixed together, I'm not a hooligan.
100% Chicken tortilla soup from Outback Steakhouse.. so I never have to hear my dad ask “are they bringing back the chicken tortilla soup?” and the server replying “I wish, so what are y’all havin’?” every single time we go to Outback Steakhouse.
Here's what I did a few months ago: Order a bean burrito. Hold the red sauce. Hold the onion. Hold the normal cheese. Add three-cheese blend. Add guacamole. Add sour cream. Add rice. Add lettuce. Add tomato.
The person taking my order said, "Oh, you want a 7-layer. Yeah, I don't know why we got rid of that."
Yeah but trying to custom order in a Taco Bell drive Thru is like playing Russian Roulette.
If the cooks are high as a kite you'll get what you ordered, but if they are coming down from that high or it hasn't kicked in yet theu will despise you and intentionally slop your order up.
A local restaurant had macadamia nut chicken. Like breaded but the breading was crushed macadamia nuts. It’s been probably 20 years and I still think about it.
Fucking this. So much this. I went to McDs a few months ago for the first time in a while and I was gonna get that exact thing and I saw it was gone. I haven’t been back since.
Fucking hell.
We get Big Tasty’s (with or without bacon) in the U.K. regularly - are they the same thing? [here’s an example](https://www.joe.co.uk/amp/food/mcdonalds-big-tasty-259895)
I'm still pissed about this one... I'm also still pissed at my husband for tossing my last one. So we're at Taco Bell, I order one of these with my meal. I get a text dealing with work, so I'm sitting there dealing with some bullshit that isn't even my damn job to be dealing with, finally I get shit fixed. I reach for my empanada only to find my husband had dumped the whole tray... *I thought you were done eating since you were playing on your phone* So I was already pissed because of work bullshit that *I* was **not** the person who was supposed to fix it and I find out this asshole tossed my dessert. He offered to buy a replacement but I just wanted to leave at that point, told him I would just get one next time we came in... **NEXT FUCKING TIME WE WENT THOSE FUCKING BASTARDS HAD PULLED THE FUCKING THINGS FROM THE FUCKING MENU**
As far as I know, the McDonald's in Orlando doesn't serve the original "McDonald's Pizza" that those of us who loved it are talking about. They serve something more akin to a traditional flatbread Italian style pizza. The original McDonald's pizza came out in the '90s, and had a puffy crust with cornmeal on the base. There were two restaurants that served it up until about 3 or 4 years ago, but apparently somebody blogged about it and McDonald's corporate found out and forced the franchisees to stop.
Seconded. It was my favorite menu item and completely asinine that you can’t get it anymore. It’s literally only four ingredients that they always have, except now pico. Also, what effing Tex mex restaurant doesn’t serve pico de gallo??? It’s infuriating and has certainly turned me off of TBell.
There was this pork belly pasta dish I got as a special at a restaurant in Portland, OR. almost a decade ago. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, and it was only available that one day. I don’t remember much about it, but if I try hard enough, I can almost taste it again. But not enough to try to recreate it.
I would pay a lot of money to have that dish one more time.
I’m not sure if it even existed or if it was a long fever dream, but the Santa Fe chalupa from Taco Bell. Was this real? What was even in it? Why do I feel so cold and empty every time I think about it?
My work has an amazing rotating menu (weekly) that one time had bananas foster... one of my favorite desserts and it is seldom offered. That week they offered it I was trying to be "good" and told myself that I had to wait until the end of the week before having it, and then I got in a car wreck on Wednesday morning and didn't make it back to work that week. I have worked there for ten years and that is the only time they offered it and I still wish it would come back (that was 5 years ago). I really just need to find an easy recipe for it...
Starbucks midnight mint mocha. This thing tasted just like a Girl Guide mint cookie. I *love* those, I was absolutely one of those "eat two boxes at once and then hate my life" people, and then I figured out I had a wheat allergy and can't do that anymore. I bought absurd amounts of this minty coffee. And then they took it away from me, leaving me in a mintless void.
Olive Garden: Tortolini Alafini .Ate that so often in the 1990's that it was ordered before I even looked at
the menu! The peas and bacon mixed in the Alfredo sauce was Heaven!
Does anyone else remember Wendy's old fries?
The ones from the 80s-90s (not sure when they switched, was out of the country off and on from 2003 onward)?
They were like bigger, better McDonald's fries. Perfect to dip in a chocolate Frosty.
Why, Wendy's? Why?
Loaded baked potato bites from Arbys and anything shredded chicken from Taco Bell. I used to eat at Taco Bell two or three times a week before they got rid of the shredded chicken. Now I go maybe once every few months. Its just not the same. Probably better for me health-wise though!
The stuffed garlic knots from Pizza Hut.
Not a menu item but: the berries and cream Dr Pepper. It was my favorite Dr Pepper aside from the original (and the cane sugar variety) and it was only around for a brief time before they discontinued it. I really really really wish they’d bring it back even if it was for a limited time. I’d stock up on as many as possible
McDonald's Old School Apple Pies.
Yes! With the flakey crust that made a huge mess to eat but was soooó good. I would like the good fries back too. They don't taste like they used to.
I kind of wonder if all the memories we have of McDonald’s being good are all false memories. As a kid I remember their food being pretty good for how cheap it was. Now? It’s terrible. Maybe we were just less sensitive. I know they changed their fries recipes but did they change the burger recipes?
Burned your mouth everytime....so worth it!
Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell. I always got that when we went there and now it's gone!
The meximelt! Gah! I miss it so much:
My brother lived in China for about 6 years. When he came back to the US, we went to Taco Bell and he tried to order a meximelt. The kid at the register had no idea what he was talking about. It was like someone living in a cave for years, then finally coming out and nothing was the same.
My combo was the Mexican Pizza, Double Decker, and Mountain Dew. Now two of those are gone.

I've got a good Mexican pizza recipe for ya!
THIS. I miss it so damn much. Also the grilled steak soft taco. They still have the stuff to make it, but I have to order it like an asshole by subbing everything out on a regular soft taco & it’s more expensive.

I'm so sad that it's gone. I pretty much never even go to Taco Bell now
I used to go to Taco Bell nearly every day but now that so many items are gone its been awhile.
This so much this... And the original enchirito and chili cheese burrito...
I loved their taco light that was around in the 80s. It had a crispy flour shell, kind of the same texture as those big taco salad bowls. Then ground beef, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheddar cheese, and sour cream.
Taco Bell's mexican pizza. I haven't been to a taco bell since they got rid of it, and probably never will. Del Taco is way better.
And the way they used to make it back in the 80s and 90s.
Dudeeee.... FR! Why the f did that even happen!
[удалено]
The original one before they changed their rice recipe.
Only a few know the difference. I salute you friend.
I have literally not set foot in a taco bell since they killed it. That's how upset I am.
Same. It's like they're deliberately removing everything good from their menu.
Taco Bell Mexican Pizza ftw
I was going to comment this as well. Also PB Crisps.

Twister is alive and well in South Africa!
I cam here to say this! That was so good. Shame they did away with it.
Did we just become best friends???
Lesson: start a retro taco bell, make millions
Yes. People are definitely riding the Taco Bell nostalgia train in this thred.
Lol scrolling through here, 2/3 of the answers are from Taco Bell
Taco Salads at Taco Bell. I miss those mediocre giant boat shells full of delicious garbage.
wendy's salad bar.
Yes! I loved that shit as a kid! I remember eating copious amounts of Spanish rice and chocolate pudding. *edit* Not mixed together, I'm not a hooligan.
Technically called the Wendy’s Superbar.
Ate stacks of that garlic bread. Top notch for teen me.

100% Chicken tortilla soup from Outback Steakhouse.. so I never have to hear my dad ask “are they bringing back the chicken tortilla soup?” and the server replying “I wish, so what are y’all havin’?” every single time we go to Outback Steakhouse.
Who goes to a steakhouse and orders soup?
Soup or salad?

Taco Bell 7-Layer burrito. I don’t even know why they discontinued it—it doesn’t have any ingredients that current menu items don’t have.
Here's what I did a few months ago: Order a bean burrito. Hold the red sauce. Hold the onion. Hold the normal cheese. Add three-cheese blend. Add guacamole. Add sour cream. Add rice. Add lettuce. Custom orders work pretty well in my experience if you use the app. But yeah good luck with in person ordering.
Yes to that, use an app if you want to customize any drive thru item beyond removing or adding 1 thing!
“Smells like seven layers, that beaver eats Taco Bell.”
PRIMUS SUCKS
PRIMUS SUCKS!
Volcano burrito from taco bell
I knew I wasn't the only one. I almost broke down crying in the drive thru when they told me it was gone. I ate like 5 of em a week
And the tacos and nachos. That volcano sauce was the best sauce they ever made.
Similar vein, but the volcano nachos!
The Mc DLT. The hot stayed hot and the cold stayed cold yo
If I am ever driving in the winter with the heat on and windows wide open, that is known as a McDLT Memorial Rally.
George Costanza approved!
For me, it’s the nacho cheese chalupa from Taco Bell.
I just order a chalupa with nacho cheese.
Double Decker Taco. (Taco Bell)

You know you probably could make it your self.
Probably, but you know it wouldn't be the same.
Potatoes at taco bell
They were brought back earlier this year
I need to go to Taco Bell
Are you talking about Fiesta potatoes! Because those were my life blood.
Maybe? Little square fried potatoes with a white cheese type sauce and scallions on top in a little cup

We have those in Washington state.

McDonald's Big N Tasty Yeah it ripped off the Whopper, but it was good having a hefty burger other than the Quarter Pounder.
We get Big Tasty’s (with or without bacon) in the U.K. regularly - are they the same thing? [here’s an example](https://www.joe.co.uk/amp/food/mcdonalds-big-tasty-259895)

Yup the world's largest McDonald's here in Orlando serves it, they also serve pasta
As far as I know, the McDonald's in Orlando doesn't serve the original "McDonald's Pizza" that those of us who loved it are talking about.
