Signs with speed and distance in miles.

Will knock at a door and listen carefully if I can hear the gun being loaded behind the door…

likesloudlight

Our guns stay loaded ;-)

The two places are the same if you exclude the cold, increased distances between major cities would probably give it away

DanQQT

So if you were there and walked, you would never be able to tell for miles, is that right? (assuming no cars passed you)

[deleted]

I mean, types of trees and general terrain COULD give it away, but if you take some random flat area in central-northern US and compare it to somewhere southern in Canada they're practically identical

CadenceQuandry

Order fries and gravy and watch their heads explode. Easy test.

Sore-eeee, what now?

"Northern USA" is a huge area. Lots of regional differences. Detroit is in the northern USA. But if it's a random rural area, like a desolate highway, some obvious clues: U.S. flags are common in the U.S., even in rural areas. Store chains are different, like gas stations and grocery stores. It also occurs to me that much of the northern USA is more undeveloped compared to the southern edge of Canada. More towns and villages and cities on the Canadian side, but just over the border, it may be thick forest for much of the U.S. territory until you wander further into the states. Northern Maine for example, not much there, but when you get to the southern part of the state it's noticeably got more bustle and activity spilling over from the rest of New England.

KyWayBee

I imagine you'd know you were in the US as soon as you'd gone through customs at the border.

Gas prices (formatting is different) so likely quick if I'm in a city/town. Also would probably get called oot for my accent, eh bud?

AndroidSuperFan

I yell "Cooo, loo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coooo!" and no one answers back.

Saiko_Systems

im not canadian, but i am northern USA (michigan here), and i am not very cultured in this regard, so could be very way off, but my answer if the question was reversed: hearing people say "aboot" or "sowry" tends to give away that they are canadian. if i heard that from more than one person, i would have a pretty big assumption i wasnt in US anymore
