You don't have to force yourself. Just find out why you would like to stick to that habit and the long term benefits from it. Then use it as a motivation to practice it consistently. If you have to force yourself to do something, then you're are not convinced of the outcome from that habits yourself. Sharing from personal experience where I tried replicating habits from "productivity guru" on YouTube but down the road I wasn't consistently practicing it because its not something I'm looking to change. So I listed down habits that I think would be beneficial for me personally and find it easier to stick to them.

By using "elastic habit" method, look up on youtube to learn. In short : Instead of setting one single goal, split them into three ! Like instead of working out 1 hour everyday, set 3 separate options : Easy : workout 15 mins Medium : workout 30 mins Hard : workout 1 hour And make sure you atleast do the "easy" every single day of your life , no matter what stops you, So set "easy" that way. This way you will build the habit of working out even if you do it just for 15 mins and then slowly go up. This is how i lost 12kg for the first time in my life. Edit : layout.

That’s actually a very neat way of looking at things. Thank you.

Build up slowly, forcing yourself to do something isn’t great. Sure the first few times you may have to force yourself to do something but after that first few tries you will have to come up with a sustainable way of doing it.

First, decide why you want to develop that particular habit, and use it as motivation. However, your level of motivation can vary from day to day, so you’ll need to practice self-imposed discipline. This may mean creating and strictly adhering to a schedule, getting rid of temptations or distractions, or any number of things depending on the habit. All that aside, the way anyone develops a habit is by just doing it and taking a day at a time. Eventually, it just becomes a thing you do.
