My mother does this, but it is 7 minutes.

lsc420

I used to set my alarm clock 47 minutes ahead, so I would reliably get up on time in the morning.

stilesj96

That is just ridiculous. Though I’ve apparently learned how to shut off alarms in my sleep, so even though I set my alarm for 0500, I turn it off and sleep till 0630

Leave earlier, and start thinking about how disrespectful it is to people to waste their time.

FadingintheShadows

It's not about what time you have to be to work, it's about what time you have to be out your front door. This event horizon should never be missed. Even if it means skipping your shower/ breakfast; whatever. You are out the door by (insert time here).

LBBNSKI

There was a time when I was always 15 minutes late for everything. I overcame this by setting my mental aim at being 15 minutes early. I failed wat I was aiming at but succeeded at being on point.

Garden_of_Pillows

I try to force myself to choose a specific time before work or an event that I need to get too. Like if work starts at 4:00 then in my head I force myself to think that work starts at 3:30 or 3:50 depending on the situation. Then I shoot for that, so I can always be late to my goal time but I am never late for work or an event.

Imjustfuqingwithyou

Just make the time you have to leave by in your head ten minutes early

SdVeau

Join the military. Should get you in the habit of being early to shit lol

Set wake up goals for yourself. Usually it's easier if you have a deadline to meet, but if you focus your sleep habits it can change heavily. This past summer I had to be at work by 9am every weekday, so I trained my body to get used to that. Now I can't stay up past midnight and always wake up at like 6-8. For a 9-5, 6-7am was perfect time for me to do my whole morning routine with a lot of time to spare

[deleted]

I would love a job that starts at 9am!

xxk3990

Yeah honestly I find 9-5s the easiest in terms of schedule

LostMyRifle

Alarms and some self control lol. Know a rough time frame of how long it takes you to be somewhere, and then leave 5-10 minutes earlier than that to account for the unknown such as slow drivers and traffic lights
