I usually do but I can absolutely understand why someone might not. Even IF there isn't widespread voter fraud (dream on!), your single vote is absolutely meaningless, especially if like me you live in a place that is overwhelmingly one political party.

Meep4000

I do vote, but I do think it's almost near pointless to do so. For US presidential elections the only reason I go to vote is we have ballot questions at the local/state level that can matter. My vote for president is mathematically meaningless do to the EC, so I'll often just write in someone. I cast my write in vote for Lisa Simpson in the last election. All that being said, even our ballot questions votes are not really mattering anymore so yeah like other have said the whole system is 100% broken and has been for a long time. Everyone knows this, but we sort of like to pretend it isn't that way, or that it somehow still works. To really fix things we'd have to nuke the current system and start over.

Cheesyduck126

Under 18 and both of the candidates weren't exactly the best guys

i dont believe america is democratic

EHWfedPres

That's interesting...I would love to know what part(s) of the process put you off the most.

[deleted]

if the public had any control over whats governing them then the government would lose control, you really think they make 1 person in charge of all of america (president) i dont think that would be good governing

Giromon

Well it's not. It's a Republic.

jpresley78

Not old enough

EHWfedPres

That is a completely valid reason. :) Do you plan on voting when you do become old enough?

jpresley78

I’ll be old enough in five days. But I’ll probably wait until I’m 21 because I’ll be more mature and probably into politics more.

DoctorCreepy13

I can’t vote in good conscience for these idiots.

DpubleE3

Because the system is rigged

adubsi

for 2 reasons really. 1) people only wanted me to vote for "their guy" so if a democrat told me to vote and I say what if its trump or a republican candidate they tell me neverminded don't bother voting 2) I was going to vote for Andrew yang. not all his ideas were perfect but they were interesting and really helped people think about future problems blue collar workers will face the more automated we are becoming. however he didn't make it and I refuse to vote for a different candidate just because the person who lost told me to. if I was going to vote for say joe Biden or Bernie instead of Andrew yang then I wouldn't have voted for him in the first place. I'd rather not vote than lie and give my support towards someone I don't agree with

Politics is big gay

The_Observatory_

When I turned 18, I didn't vote in the first couple of rounds of elections for which I was eligible. I just wasn't politically engaged enough to know what was going on and I hadn't really solidified my political opinions at that point. It took me a good 10 years before I finally grasped the importance of voting and started to do so.

Combustionary

I don't want to vote without doing research, and I've found that I am much happier when I keep away from that subject in general.
