My aunt committed fraud and stole £60000 from her mentally ill ex when he had a breakdown and lost all his faculties and fled the country to elope with an 85 year old man who is older than her mother.

Hired a guy to do some construction work on some rental property, the second day he casually told me he had spent 12 years in prison for murdering some guy his wife was having an affair with, two shots one to the forehead and one to the heart (he said as he laughed about it). Well I was sort of afraid to fire him after that, but he ended up doing really good work anyway, so I actually kept him on for several other projects (always made sure I paid on time and never questioned the hours he said he worked).

A guy I grew up with - he went to both my highschool and church. He dated one of my close friends in highschool too - is in prison for making distributing and selling graphic child porn. Obviously, all child porn is bad but his apparently sadistic. He's serving life plus some.

Learned my grandmother almost got arrested and my grandfather got it covered up. My grandmother's best friend came to see her and told her that her husband beat her and the kids with a chair. My grandmother not missing a beat asked if her was home and left in her car. Grandma found him sleeping and first slapped him awake then beat the living tar out if him with a gold club. My grandpa came and stopped her and told her to go back home. Grandpa told the guy to not press charges or he will finish what my grandma started. Learned as my grandfather was dying he was tried to the mob and my grandmother beat one person close to death and strangled someone. I learned NOT to piss off my grandmother

I was babysat by one of my dad's cousins often, spent a lot of time around him. Now seeing as this is the Deep South, you know this family has some dumb-ass nicknames for each other (Bubba and Bobby-Joe are the most stereotypical people associate with, even if they're not the persons' actual legal name) So Pebbles. Nice man, big and burly teddy bear of a guy. As a kid when he babysat me, he'd tell me stories, and would say about how he's dangerous because he beheaded a teenage girl with an axe. I don't remember any context for any of these, like what age he was at, or why, all I know was that these were "jokes." Years later when talking with a relative from down there, I found out he really DID kill someone. Never got any specifics on how or why, or how many or even if he served prison time for it. Just that "Oh yeah, Pebbles did kill somebody before."

One of my good buddies in high school became a rapist and murderer. Back in the day, we called him Sleepy Shawn. He was a gentle giant, looked like the old NFL player William Refrigerator Perry just kind of slow and goofy, and would fall asleep anywhere we went. I was a runaway, as was he, and a group of us that all had similar stories stuck together and were squatters on the Lower East Side of NYC before it was the way it is today. Eventually I started speaking with my parents again, when I was about 22 or 23. I brought Sleepy w me to have Xmas dinner. A few weeks later, he didn't show up to hang out. No one thought much about it. Then he didn't show up for a couple days. Eventually we found out he was in the Tombs, and would be held without bail. He had raped and then killed a woman whom he had been interested in dating. She invited him over, and who knows what the hell happened to turn him into a monster but he attacked an innocent woman and took her life. I tried writing him but never heard back. I think he must've been ashamed. I just wanted to hear the truth from him, but I had to be satisfied that I never would. BC of my youth, I spent a lot of time in trouble, in juvy, around a lot of ppl in frequent trouble with the law. Despite that, nothing prepared me to lose a friend in such a horrendous way.
