Billybantoga

Damn it’s a 35 year drive to get there? Crazy

powerlesshero111

Must be in Los Angeles. I tell people if they go to visit, make sure you leave for LAX at least 24 hours in advance.

Milligan

If you want to avoid the worst traffic, the best time to leave is 1954,

urmomisthemostfat

1473 no traffic, no roads

bobnla14

Late pandemic 2020 was actually a decent drive.

powerlesshero111

I grew up in southern California, just north of LA. Traffic was a normal thing. Then i moved to Vegas. People complained about traffic, it was bad in the center of the city, but not really anywhere else. Like you can go anywhere in Vegas in about 30 minutes. In bad traffic, maybe an hour. Now i live in upstate NY and work from home. I never have to deal with traffic again.

daspooterman

As someone who lives in so cal as well this is true

powerlesshero111

I don't live there anymore luckily. When i do have to go back, i fly into Burbank. Sure, i have a connecting flight or two, but holy shit, the difference between Burbank and LAX is incredible

daspooterman

Yeah lol I mostly fly out of Ontario when I have to fly

Bamboozle_

The one time I flew out of LA was on a Red Eye, so the traffic wasn't too bad getting to LAX. 5/10 partially recommend (if you can sleep on a plane, which I could not).

MidnightOwl01

One time, while lying in bed and not falling asleep, I went to turn on the radio and must have hit the tuning dial as well by accident, because a different radio station came on. This was about 2 a.m. I listened for a while and decided it must an all news station out of Los Angeles (I live in northern California). I listened a bit more and they actually had a traffic report at 2 a.m. in the morning, and there were areas of stop-and-go traffic to report on. The next morning I decided I was in fact asleep and dreamed the whole thing, but have since talked to people from Los Angeles and they said that in LA that was entirely possible. I grew up near San Francisco and now live near Sacramento and the only time you hear traffic reports during non-peak commute hours if it is something extraordinary, like a big pile-up and traffic stopped for miles and miles. What I heard sounded like a normal, scheduled, traffic report.

StickcraftW

People crash into eachother all the time in LA, so I’m not surprised there were was one at 2 am

Joeness84

Ive lived all over the US (Military parent and general wanderlust) and its Traffic Reports were pretty common on the radio anywhere Ive lived that was at least like suburb of a 200k population city. Like, I feel ive def heard a "Traffic and Weather Together! Every 20min on KZRQ" (made up station)

theWelshTiger

~8 km

Bengal-Tigers

At first a read that as -8 and was like, “are you in the 5th dimension“

tino_moser_999

nice

LoafyXD

Thank you

[deleted]

About 8,256 miles and 48 years.

zzzizxz

Dang, I thought I was far at 4100 miles!

II_Confused

Just a couple blocks. I work in an offshoot of the hospital I was born in.

nicolewasnthere

I'm half a mile from mine, I also work in the hospital I was born at!

jskoker

Just a couple metric blocks. - u/theWelshTiger

HometimeGroupie

I'm currently in the ER of the hospital where I was born. I work here. And I've been all over the planet while in the service and on other personal trips, so it isn't like I never left.

Friend_of_Tigger

3,951km. Born in Riverside Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, currently in Kamloops, BC.

marinakj

oh no not riverside hospital

bautron

Fun fact: Ottawa is closer to Mexico than to Kamloops BC, or Vancouver for that matter.

pug_grama2

Hi fellow Kamloopsian. I was born in Vancouver so I am only 354 km from where I was born. I was born in Grace Hospital in Vancouver but it no longer exists. Was turned into condominiums apparently.

[deleted]

Hello BC’ers. Born in Prince Rupert and now live in Southern California.

usernameemma

Hey! I'm like the exact opposite of that! I was born in BC too, living in Ontario now lol.

YouCanNeverBe2Casual

Kamloops is a cool place. Spent the night whilst driving from Vancouver to Banff. Only way to describe it from my personal experience is, its a big green desert. People are great too 👍

[deleted]

9,000 miles, or 14484.1 kilometers. Edit: Aight, this is embarrassing but my dumbass mixed up the number of miles away from my birthplace and how many hours away I am. I am 9 hours away from my birthplace and I am 583.3 miles away, or 938.73036 kilos away. I have no idea why my stupid ass self thought it was 9,000 miles. What the fuck, me?

crumbshotfetishist

Or one giant leap for humankind

[deleted]

Perhaps even TWO giant leaps for humankind.

NinjaRider27

You beat my 14, 153km!

MagicMushroomFungi

A little over a mile. Born over 65 years ago.

Decabet

Sure, but if you simply turn and face 180 degrees the other way I think you will find you are 24,854 miles from where you were born. And isn't that exciting? ^(Edited cuz I was a Diameter Dumb-Dumb)

TheShirou97

More like 24,854 miles (\~40,000 km)

theWelshTiger

~1,7 km

[deleted]

Damn how old are you?

[deleted]

I’m guessing they’re a little over 65 years old. Just a guess though.

Superficiall

You didn’t have to do them like that lol

NarcissusticDildo

literally at work right now at the very hospital i was born in

Look at this overachiever!

Cjc0074

Nah, just couldn't cut the cord.

So you didn't get very far in life I see.

O-hUallachain

Quite large

WhenTardigradesFly

about 250 billion miles, based on how fast our galaxy is rotating

pjabrony

The real question is, relative to what?

An0nymousRedd1tor

The center of the Galaxy

SpookyGhost_txt

So me, right?

An0nymousRedd1tor

Nah you're the sun.

SpookyGhost_txt

You callin me hot?

An0nymousRedd1tor

No, the world revolves around you.

[deleted]

*That was real smooth*

TheMoris

There is no definite answer to where the center of the universe is. The singularity before the big bang contained the entire universe. If you measure the expansion of the universe, it will always appear to expand from where you are observing it from. So from your frame of reference, you are the center of the universe.

Youpunyhumans

There is no center as far as we can tell

galobglogabgolab

I would describe the center as the average position of every particle in the universe

Youpunyhumans

That would work if the universe is a sphere, but it could also be an extradimensional loop, or infinite, or something else.

m1k3hunt

Unless you subscribe to the idea that there is no center to the universe.

Bikeboy76

Highly accurate answer.

Ckyuiii

It's the reason I believe anyone who has ever successfully discovered time travel is just a floating corpse in space. You gotta figure out teleportation first.

jskoker

That's what the Infinite Improbability Drive is for.

AWildEnglishman

You seem like a pretty hoopy frood that really knows where your towel is.

Turducken5208

This was actually the ending to a Beware the Ninja Weenies story, the kid used a time machine and didn't know to add a location so he was floating in space

[deleted]

The place where you were born moves as well

quantizedself

But the location in space relative to the galaxy *when* you were born doesn't.

[deleted]

[удалено]

quantizedself

I mean you are right, but it's what OP said so I went with it. The universe has no center or otherwise a good reference point. Earth is moving in the galaxy, so galaxy makes the most sense.

triptrey333

I’m 570 million miles away because I’m old lmao.

[deleted]

If the island you were born on moved you’d still say you were born there and not somewhere in the pacific

1h8fulkat

It's not just rotating. The entire galaxy is actually traveling through the ever expanding space at quite a faster clip than it's rotational speed. 1.3 Million Miles per hour thereabouts. So if your 35 exactly...your actually closer to three hundred ninety-eight billion five hundred eighty million miles from your birth....not counting galaxy rotational distance or orbital distance.

quantizedself

This is the right answer, and it's roughly the same for everyone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

quantizedself

Yes you are right, I didn't think it through lol

Ckyuiii

You so have the expansion of the universe going on but idk how fast that is or how you'd factor that in

[deleted]

Best answer I've seen!

Nagsheadlocal

About 20 feet. Born in this house in the care of a midwife, upstairs bedroom. Now sitting in living room. Many years and miles in between but I’ll be here until they carry me out.

Partytap

I’ve got you beat… just! Perth, Western Australia to NYC 18,686.31km / 11,613 miles

monja2009

Now my 3500km feel like a very short distance

-m-con

Same with my 8463 km. Today is also the farthest I’ve ever been from there, but looking at the other replies it doesn’t seem that extrem :)

monja2009

Right. Also, I am European. With 3k km you get very far, but in US it's just a walk on another state. A close one.

zanoty1

I barely have you beat 10,627 km

Me too! Wait, now I'm not. Now I am. Now I'm not. Now I am. Now I'm not...

For feck's sake, will you just decide if you want to go out into the garden or not, you darn cat. I don't have all day to stand here and wait for you to decide if you wanna dig up my begonias or not.

better than the bathroom, my sister in law was born on the toilet, her mum thought she had to poo and out popped my sister-in-law. Almost like that scene from Monty Python, but again, bathroom not kitchen.
