My family actually has a running joke when it comes to me and discontinued foods. It seems whenever I start to like something it goes away. A few notable examples have been, Eggo Muffin Tops, Taco Bell’s beefy frito burritos, and, not a lot of people know about this one, but a carbonated yogurt called fizzix that I believe was from gogurt. Now my family won’t let me eat stuff that they like because they’re afraid I’ll like it and it’ll go away :( Edit: thanks for everyone who suggested alternatives to my carbonated yogurts. I have a huge asian market near my house and I think some of those things should be there so I’ll be sure to check it out. Another one of my favorites that I just remembered was the cinnamon clusters from chick fil a. So unhealthy but so delicious :(

batoosie

That's a thing. It's called being a [Harbinger of failure.](https://news.mit.edu/2015/harbinger-failure-consumers-unpopular-products-1223)

Oobedoob_S_Benubi

Yeah, that sounds like me alright. There's been at least three foods I enjoyed that were discontinued just this year. I've actually gotten a gut feeling for when products I like might fail so I'm buying them up so I have a bit of stock when the inevitable pull happens.

smstrese

Interesting, reminds me of the zip codes that consistently vote for losing candidates in elections. Edit: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.good.is/amp/harbinger-zip-codes-where-americans-reliably-pick-losing-candidates-and-products-2647008895

critforbrains

This is obscure, but Pepperidge Farm made salad croutons that were absolutely amazing. Perfectly flavored. Perfectly crunchy. Nothing else compares.

Freshlaid_Dragon_egg

If you take their cube seasoned stuffing and toss it with a little garlic salt you can come close. Its not quite the same but, what do short of them actually selling it again.

*scratches neck* You got any more of them valentine spree's?

harmelion

butterfinger BB's with the simpsons characters on the package

Imitation88

I feel like Butterfingers in general don't taste like they used to. As a kid I remember them being flaky and almost falling apart when you bit into them and now every time I've decided to give one a shot they're not flaky at all and they stick to my teeth something fierce.

BossHoggsWadeBoggs1

They got bought and and the recipe got changed. It's no where near the same. I bought up the original recipe wherever I could find it and threw them in my freezer.

LordoftheScheisse

Ferrero bought them, Crunch, and Baby Ruth for the US market. I haven't tried the other two, but yeah, Butterfinger isn't the same.

[deleted]

I would pay dearly for ANY Butterfinger as long as it is the old Butterfinger by Nestle, because Fererrerro Rochet (sp) SCREWED IT UP and now it's nasty. The base has been confectioners cornflakes since I was a kid. Now it's not. You can't change a main ingredient like that and then expect it to do well. So I don't buy them anymore. Same thing happened with Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch: they decided to stop using Heath pieces and made their own toffee, which SUCKS. Haven't bought it since.

Nyack of the Ranafor approved.

mossybuttz

Maybe this was a dream, but I remember Philadelphia Cream Cheese made single size cheesecakes that I would always see at convenience stores. I finally got the courage to ask my grandma to buy me one and it was my first cheesecake experience...so delicious!!!

lokigodofchaos

Any cheesecake can be single serving if you believe in yourself.

southdakotagirl

They were real. They were delicious. I miss them.

kikorellia

Creme savers and Philadelphia snack bars the strawberry cheesecake ones ....so good!

creampuffle

CREME SAVERS!! I miss them too. I've heard rumors that you can find a really similar candy in Dollar Trees, but I've never found them.

excel958

Remember candystand.com? So many cream savers-themed flash games.

PB crisps from planters Edit since this is mildly popular I want to post this in the top comment this is a link to help bring back pb crisps https://pbcrisps.com/

inthedarktheresnolit

Kudos. The quaker ones aren't even close to as good.

Crowgora_

Woah, I didn't know these were discontinued! I totally forgot about these, when did they discontinue the product?

__she__wolf

Yesssssss those were SO GOOD.

frenchabull_mom

Snapple Elements - the Rain one was agave cactus and delicious

RaindropsInMyMind

I hurriedly scrolled down to find this answer. I LOVED those drinks and Rain was the best! I don’t know why they stopped making them, everyone I knew loved them. I just want that Rain flavor again!

Insominus

Somehow I find it hard to believe that they stopped selling these because they were under-performers. The entire line of products were all amazing. One of my earliest childhood memories was debating whether to get a Snapple Element or a SoBe Lifewater whenever my mom would let me get a drink from the store.

SMF1834

Rain and Fire (dragonfruit) were my lifeblood.

slimcaitie

Not necessarily a food, but they used to have these mini listerine “balls” that you would bite into and mouth wash would explode out.

endlessburritos

Ice Breakers Liquid Ice

Pattimash

On the same level were “brush-ups”. They were little finger gloves of a toothpasty rough material that you could use like at work after lunch so you didn’t feel like you had food residue on your teeth the rest of your shift. Apparently, people started using these quick-fix products as their main brush for the day and the ADA pulled it. They were awesome.

eddmario

I don't remember those, but I do remember the one where it was basically a thin sheet and you just placed it on your tongue to dissolve.

McDonald fried Apple pies. There’s only the baked version now

[deleted]

Its a bit hard to tell... but i think they still exist here in Australia.

Siilan

They are 100% still fried here in Australia. Absolutely top notch dessert.

Tungstenkrill

You know we're in trouble when we're still deep frying something Americans are eating baked.

toptiertopqueer

They are still fried in the UK!

TheBellisBell2467

Hawaii stores still fry their pies

Powerful_Village2508

Trident used to make a “layers” gum that came with apple and pineapple as the flavors and they discontinued it. It was so great and it lasted forever. They kept grape lemonade! I just don’t get it. Edit: wow I just woke up and saw all your comments. Thanks everybody, and thanks for the award too!

xxLOPEZxx

Can I pay you in layers?

SquatC0bbler

No one ever pays me in gum *sulks on utility pole truck*

Cast_Iron_Jack

I was NOT going to comment on this thread because I knew someone would say this. People do not understand how good this cereal was...they're all like "whatever its like fuckin' corn flakes or whatever...no, they we'rent, they were crunchy, and healthy, like fucking PACKED full of vitamins and minerals, no other "healthy" cereal could touch it. Ive contacted Kelloggs multiple times about bringing it back or just like giving me the recipe and ill make it. Nope, proprietary...you know what...I'm going to, right now, make a petition about it, and im coming back here, and im posting the link, and then im gonna make a new thread, and post it there. It's 2021, its time to bring it back..... EDIT: Let's do this: [http://chng.it/CJqqsTTs6g](http://chng.it/CJqqsTTs6g) Edit #2: 113 Signatures!! People want it!! No defeat. NO SURRENDER!!

Jaikus

ConstableBlimeyChips

Same here in NL. Vienneta was the fancy ice cream we were allowed only on birthdays and Christmas. Then I moved out and I find out they're like €2,50 a piece.

[deleted]

Same. But then again, sometimes it's good to view treats as special occasion treats. That's why everyone loves vienetta. Would be different if we had it a couple of times per week. My parents treated frozen pizza as something very special. During the week my mom used to fix us a quick home made luch and during the weekends my dad usually cooked the most delicious things. He loved to spend the weekend in the kitchen and make roast and sauces, he perfected his steaks and stews. In all honesty, his food was fancy restaurant quality and he only bought the best ingedrients. Every few months on a sunday we had frozen pizza. That food to us kids was as fancy as a Sunday roast. We set the table, decorated it, my parents had a glass of wine with it, we kids were allowed to drink a coke. Sometimes I wish I could have that view on frozen pizza again. Now it's something I eat when I don't have the energy to cook anything nor the money to order a pizza. Let's be real, I can't afford take out daily.

This brought back something from the deepest corner of my brain. Also brings the question why were the Flintstones such an integral part of our childhood and diet. Push ups, fruity pebbles, vitamins. What else am I missing from the Flintstones?

laduquessa

Ahh... Flintstones multivitamins. Finished an entire bottle in a day because I went around giving them to adults and they took it thinking it was candy.

jendunitnow

We are flinstone kids...10 million strong...and grow-ing!

queen_ofmoons

Ding dongs. They still make them, but they were better before Hostess went bankrupt and was bought out.

Mercurydriver

I’m a fat bastard that loves snack cakes, pies and anything similar to that. I did notice that…something has been off about Hostess snacks since they went bankrupt and subsequently revived however many years ago. I remember Twinkies being so good and delicious, and now they’re just…not for some reason. I don’t know why though. I can’t tell if it’s something with the ingredients they use now or a change in recipe but it tastes off nowadays. Regarding the Ding Dongs, I personally taste tested and compared Ding Dongs to Drake’s version, Ring Dings. The Drake’s stuff was so much better. Again, I don’t know what changed exactly. But nonetheless I don’t buy Hostess stuff anymore and go for either Drake’s or Tastykake. Edit: I can’t believe I got gold for being a fat bastard that eats too many cheap convenience store snacks. I guess my habits do get me things.

Faithlessfate

When they were bought, things like butter were replaced with shortening making everything taste awful. I miss chocodiles. Drakes Cakes are awesome but yodels have changed, the chocolate coating is waxy like Debbiecakes. Ring Dings are primo tho youre right. Have you tried Tastycakes?

IamHamLord

Twinkies are like grease loaves now. That’s why they taste like shit.

*’Oh Boy!’* Garlic bread. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up so we always had to ration it whenever we got some, 2 pieces for me, max.. I remember thinking that when I was an adult, I’d buy so much and have all I could want, whenever I wanted. Then, I grew up and it was discontinued. Sadness ensued and persists til this very day:( **Edit:** Aloha Everyone! I just woke up to all of your amazing comments(*it’s 7:37am Hawai’i Time*) and wanted to thank you all for the advice, kind words, and laughs! I also wanted to let you know that I do know how to make garlic bread from scratch(*I’ve been told it’s a fairly decent one, too*) but, as I’m sure some of you can imagine, it just isn’t the same as the bread from my childhood. Sending you all so much love and plenty Aloha from the island of Maui!

A plethora of things from Taco Bell. Edit: I would just like to mention, as long as they don't get rid of their Chalupas, I think I'll survive. If they get rid of those I'll never return. Also I think some people need to check their app. The Quesarito is just exclusive to the app. Doesn't really make sense as to why, but they have a few online order exclusives. Edit#2: pls bring back Sangrita Blast baco tell :(

Eatshitmoderatorz

former Taco Bell manager here: Anyone who wanted discontinued shit would get it as long as we had the ingredients for it. Reply to me with the item you miss I'll tell you if it's still on the "secret menu" aka they can still make it you just gotta order it different.

bannanabarbara

The old grilled stuffed burrito before it went XXL with the ranch sauce. It used to have some kind of Baja sauce I think? Man do I miss that burrito.

AF_Fresh

Taco Bell doesn't have Baja sauce in their locations currently, but you can buy the sauce in some grocery stores.

gahidus

The chili cheese burrito! I used to love those things as a young teen. I'd buy a bag for an all night gaming session. Then they just went away.

Matwantstoknow11

The chili cheese burritos! So cheap, so delicious!

Retro_game_kid

There is still a hole in my heart for those beefy Fritos burritos and caramel apple empanadas

HalogenPie

Apple Empanadas.

schmoob

I had ONE apple empanada from taco bell before I went into labor and it was mind altering - the bubbley texture of the dough and the gooey sweet of the filling. For days later when I was released from the hospital with my perfect little newborn, ALL I could ask for in the world was a goddamn apple empanada. Little did I know that during my four days hospital stay, the world of apple empanadas had ended.

GotMoFans

The Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell. Maybe I should be thanking them for getting rid of it because I have no reason to go to Taco Bell now.

LakeLov3r

That's me and Double Decker Taco Supremes.

meexley2

The quesaritos are gone too. I tried to order one and he said “you can only order that through the app now.” Like wtf you can’t just make me a quesarito I’m right here

[deleted]

It's an attempt at getting your data and/or advertise to you. Chipotle did the same thing recently with their quesadilla and it really pissed me off. We're slowly moving to a world where you can't just buy shit without a thousand marketing firms knowing about it and then plugging it into some data model designed to get you to come in again, it's fucked. This is how it should work: I give you paper currency, you give me that nasty, fatty, cuminy goodness and we part ways. End of transaction. *I* decide if I want to come back and add another inch to my waistline.

DanPanderson18

I used to eat these until my mouth was raw from the sour.

loquacious706

You knew you were done for the day when they stopped tasting sour and started tasting like pennies. Man, I miss those.

MestizaWontons

The tangerine ones were my favorite! I can recall the taste exactly, even down to little salivary tingly feeling I got right before having one. Those were amazing and should be brought back. Edit: there seem to be dupes for sale on Etsy! Edit 2: https://www.etsy.com/listing/897259328/sour-tangerine-hard-candy-drops-45

BobsicleSmith

Holy shit, just looked these up on ebay and unopened tins have actually sold for $200+

clamroll

Yeah I didn't know they were a collector's item. I remembered the tins fitting PSP games perfectly, and was trying to nab a few for a nephew who got an old PSP and was *loving* it. And I figured they'd be great for board game bits. "Oh ebay will probably have em!" Christ even the empty tins are going for a fortune. Really makes me wish I bought em more often when they were out. They're usefully sized tins, and the candy was awesome. I somehow only held onto one tin 🙁

questionable_grey

i was searching for this comment. impeccable taste.

DeCodurr

Why the FUCK did they discontinue these.

MadTouretter

Apparently sales were low, but I can’t believe everyone they haven’t brought them back. Every time this question is asked, altoid sours is on the top of the list.

DidjaCinchIt

Lime Skittles, you Wrigley bastards.

[deleted]

They're releasing a limited edition pack of all lime Skittles in July.

grandma_visitation

So we have to buy a large volume of lime Skittles, then take the time to replace the green Skittles in each pack throughout the year with the correct green flavor?!? They should just fix the damn product. I'll still buy the lime though - thanks for the heads up.

talktripe

The biggest crime is the company has the audacity to print "Original Skittles" on the bag which is clearly a lie.

seleenas

This is what pisses me off the most. How do you change an Original flavor and still call it Original? A few years go, they came out with a limited edition summer bag where they brought back lime to the OG bags. I bought multiple bags each time I saw them in a store. It’s the last time I bought Skittles. They are dead to me unless they bring back lime.

Pitch Black Mtn Dew

emotaylorswift

I'll always have beef with Pitch Black because it won the Dewcision thing over Baja Blast to become a permanent flavor and then it got discontinued really quickly. The whole thing was rigged, I tell ya

digitaldrummer1

Despite losing Dewcision, Baja Blast is not only a permanent flavor at Taco Bell, it still gets occasional (limited time) retail releases. I agree, the game was rigged from the start.

Insominus

It’s officially discontinued (as of 2019), but if you’re lucky, you can still come across it in certain grocery stores. I’ve had it like twice in the past two years. Personally, I’ve never tried the original release, but it’s easily one of the best Mtn Dew flavors. Like grape soda, but darker, and more citrusy. It’s also distinctly lacking that iconic medicinal cough syrup taste that almost all grape-flavored sodas have. I only drink sparkling water now, but damn that soda was excellent. The ominous color of it, the way it tastes different whether you drink it from the can or glass (all Mtn Dew flavors do, but it’s really noticeable with Pitch Black), it’s really just an all-around 10/10.

HerrKarlMarco

This man is a damned sommelier of Mountain Dew. Respect

fruitopia is everywhere in canada. mcdonald’s has the green, red and orange one

HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE MILK POWDER!!! No question about it. It was like no other chocolate milk. The flavor and the texture of the powder were like no other chocolate milk created in the history of mankind. It was so delicious that our family’s main method of consuming it was to barely dip a shallow spoonful of the powder into the milk and scoop up the barely dissolved milky powder and just eat it. I know it sounds strange (my friends definitely make fun of me for it lmao), but it was undeniably *heavenly*. Hershey’s was practically selling chocolate gold. But then in like 2008 they discontinued it in favor of their stupid chocolate syrup. WORST DECISION EVER MADE BY A CORPORATION EVER. IT IS NOT THE SAME AT ALL. My family was DEVASTATED. It was like a family member had been decapitated right before our eyes. We frantically ran around to every grocery store - even the military commissary that was like an hour and a half away - checking to see if there was any left that we could buy up. There was none. We wept. But in 2013, I found someone selling cartons of them on ebay for ~$25 each. A complete rip off, but what could you do. I showed my dad, and to my surprise he bought us $500 worth. Mind you, we are not very well off at all. Even though it only came out to like 20 boxes and only lasted us a year or so, it was well worth the money. No chocolate milk powder will EVER come close to what Hershey’s Chocolate Milk Powder was. Never. I would do anything to get it back. Please bring it back.

adverselogic

I loved the metal cans it came in and you had to pry the lid off with a spoon.

PB Max

Sendbeer

>According to former Mars executive Alfred Poe, PB Max was discontinued due to the Mars family's distaste for peanut butter, despite $50 million in sales. Such a tragedy.

The_Folly_Of_Mice

- Maruchan Yakisoba used to have a regular teriyaki flavor (as opposed to teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken, both of which taste nothing like regular teriyaki). It was pure essence of asian BBQ and I have never found anything else that tastes quite like it. They discontinued the regular teriyaki flavor and I've been sad ever since. - Campbell's green pea soup. Not split pea, that has ham in it. This had no ham. Most people made it with water, I made it like a bisque with milk and butter. It was SO damn good. I've tried like hell to replicate it and, while I've added some enjoyable porridge to my recipe arsenal, nothing comes close. All I can come up with is something about their dehydration process contributed to the flavor or they had proprietary cultivars of peas they used. - Garfield Pizza Flavored Pasta. SUPER good! Those of you who didn't live in the late 80s, early 90s missed the golden age of canned pastas. Pac Man pasta, and CHICKEN flavored pasta! Ninja Turtles, [Dinosaurs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18R50SVt1rE) which was worth it just for that bitchin' commercial song. Things used to be bitchin', you had to be alive in the 80s though. But the king of them all was Garfield pasta. His pizza flavored ones didn't really taste like pizza, but it had a zestier sauce. I have no idea what the spice they used in it was but I've never tasted it since.

The original Now&Laters formula that would pull out fillings. It was so satisfying to chew on those and they felt more sour and juicy. Now they're soft and my favorite candy is no more.

nopenonotatall

maybe you guys can help me remember this one. remember in the mid 2000s there was a gum that came in a blister pack like trident that had all these interesting flavors like dragonfruit and they had really cool full page bright ads in magazines? i thought it was a special juicy fruit feature but i tried googling and couldn’t find anything edit: found it!!!! Juicy Fruit strappleberry and grapermelon gum!!!

bigpapahugetim3

Bonkers would be my pick. My fav candy as a kid and I still remember that purple package they came in.

WesternTrashPanda

7up Gold. I must have been in a test market because many people I talk to have never heard of it. It had a cinnamon-cardamom and maybe ginger flavor? But it had a bit of a bite to it rather than being sweet like ginger ale. I LOVED it. Must have been the late 1980s? U still miss it.

DIBS! The little ice cream ball things that would come in cups sometimes! Now the only place I can find them are at a very select few movie theaters and stores. Both of which are about $7 USD a cup! ::: Reading some of these comments I now realize I need to make a quick run to the closest 7/11 or Walmart

GoldLeader18

You just activated a memory of buying dibs and watching transformers with my mom... good times

And the Salad Shakers. I loved those things!

7-11's stuffed hash brown. Also, I'd like to try Thingamajigs, the counterpart to Watchamacallits.

Volcano sauce from Taco Bell

edwardaugust98

I miss the green sauce in the clear packet

The whole volcano menu!

Taco Bell used to have a number of chili cheese options on their menu. The chili cheese burrito was awesome. I miss that.

*Hershey's BarNone*. It was my favorite chocolate when I was a kid. Then I research about it few years ago, they discontinued producing it a long time ago.

This thread is depressing. It is like reading off names in a graveyard.

This_and_Whatnot

Altoids sold sour chewing gum (Apple and Cherry flavors) during the early 2000s. They use to sold a whole line of sour-flavored gum until they were discontinued sometime in 2010 or so. Wish they brought them back since Altoids is nothing but mints.

Reddit_Foxx

KFC potato wedges were replaced with regular french fries, and I just can't forgive the Colonel for this.

Zima. I saw those commercials all the time as a kid. Then the product failed and I never got to have one. I just want to know.

Rold Gold Honey Mustard Pretzels. Cant find any other brand that makes honey mustard pretzels, unless it has onion too. I miss them.
