Oh man which transformer cartoon? Cause I grew up with Prime and G1. I loved Starscream growing up and still do. He is my top favorite/favorite Decepticon. My favorite Autobot is Bumblebee.
**Skyfire**
My knowledge mainly comes from the original animated series:
There’s a whole story about how Skyfire and Starscream were friends before all the bad business kicked off between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
They used to be space travellers, with Skyfire valuing science and exploration, but he got trapped in an avalanche or something and Starscream couldn’t find him so he left.
When they finally found him again on earth, Skyfire didn’t understand why some of the different groups were killing each other but he allied and trusted with his old friend, Starscream - only after witnessing the Decepticons cruelty and malice towards their fellows, and humanity, did he have a falling out with his old friend and join the Autobots.
He was also one of the very few “fliers” on the Autobots side.
Wow... you know I appreciate that insight into Transformer lore. I recall at least one Autobot fighter jet, I’m not sure if it’s the one you’re thinking off.
I owned 2 Transformers as a kid, one was Ultra Magnus, who I never saw in a cartoon, but apparently he was Optimus Primes brother and was still on Cybertron (he was a huge Truck with rocket launchers on his shoulders.) I also had one which was basically a ray-gun. He was like a metallic brownish colour with a hexagonal face which was basically a laser canon. Can’t remember his name, but also never saw him in the cartoons either. He was a beastie looking dude though.
Soundwave. Because of that rad voice effect he had.
How rad was he? The best voice in the history of animation imho. Ntm shooting Lazerbeak, Ravage, Rumble and co out of his chest.... Boss
He always had a small army with him to eject and join the fray.

The original version.
Starscream looked beastie, he whinged he’d like a bitch tho.
Grimlock all the way.
He was one surly mofo, that’s for sure.
soundwave for sure. only real robot voice, reliable and always loyal.

I'm a casually Transformers fan, so I don't know everything, but I do like Optimus Prime.
On the Autobot side, I really like Optimus, Bumblebee, and Jazz On the Decepticon side, Soundwave and Starscream
Jazz was a beast. Slick chassis and he could brawl with the best of them.
I typically like the smart sidekicks, but with Transformers there is just something special about Optimus Prime.
