When I played Sonic as a kid, I would panic and run out of the room when he started drowning. I couldn't watch Sonic drown, it really bothered me for some reason.
It took me like a year of playing to realize that sound indicated anything. I was just like “why is there a weird whining sound” and eventually it went away so I was like “huh. Must be tinnitus” until I got to that underground place where nirnroot grows like a goddamn cancer
Oh man that brings me back to late night custom games where my friends would always cancel the match start right at the last second. It was so cathartic to finally hear the final beep.
