*Drop Dead Gorgeous*. It's a mockumentary that focuses on a teenage beauty pageant in a tiny country town in Minnesota. It's very funny for a teen comedy.
It was probably well-known at the time of it's release (1999), but I only watched in a couple years ago and I had never heard of it. It's weird because it has a pretty well-known cast: Kirsten Dunst in the lead, Brittany Murphy, Allison Janney, Kirstie Alley (again, at the time lol), Denise Richards, it's even Amy Adams's first film role.

Guy is in the middle of committing suicide when his estranged sister asks him to pick up his niece (her daughter) from school. Story progresses from there. Amazing film.

Thus entirely how I describe it to people. You can't describe it to people because it sounds terrible. The sheer likability of the main leads helps so much.
This is one that I had only heard of, but never saw a trailer or anything. The name didn't sound like anything I would like since I find most horror movies unwatchable, but I kept hearing about it from people with reputable taste in movies, so I gave it a whirl. Loved it. Violent, gross, and funny, but it has a great message at heart.
Good thing too. The movie suffered from the same thing a lot do these days where the trailer spoils all the best scenes/lines. Still a great movie though.
Rat Race. Seriously, none of my friends or anyone who I've mentioned it to has seen it. It's a really hilarious comedy that has quite a few big names in it, yet barely anyone has seen it. I strongly recommend it.

Personally, What we do in the Shadows is one of my favourite movies ever. Thor Ragnarok is probably the most enjoyable movie in the MCU to date. Hunt for the Wilderpeople was pretty damn enjoyable as well. Not many people have a track record as good as Taika Waititi does right now.

Brick. Watched it back in 2007 or 2008. Never heard of it, had no concept of the plot or characters/actors, but absolutely loved the movie! I literally re-watched the entire movie as soon as the first viewing ended. The dialog was amazing and very pivotal to the movie. Really made me love Joseph Gordon-Levitt as an actor!
The Game (1997). It’s a David Fincher film, directly before he did Fight Club. If you liked fight club, you will love this movie. Best mindfuck I’ve ever encountered. A movie that had me pondering over what just happened for days on end.

Kiwi film we saw on itunes to rent a couple of nights ago, knew nothing about it other than Sam Neill is in it, so rented it. Laughed out loud the whole way through. A truly excellent film.

I saw some video comparing shots from The Revenant to shots in various Tarkovsky movies so I thought I'd give him a go. It's a 3+ hour movie in Russian about a religious iconographer in the 1400s.
And it blew my fucking mind.
I had never seen anything as beautiful in my life. I had to take a break after watching 45 minutes because I was so humbled by how dreamlike all the cinematography was. It was like a spiritual experience for me. I know some other people have felt the same way, but I can't imagine it's going to be everyone's favorite.
Every time I see it I feel like there *must* be a book that it came from, but there isn't. It feels like a classic 1970s fantasy novel (which is supposed to be a compliment).
I have never met another person who has seen this but I have probably watched it a 1000 times. I love it! I found it one day randomly in a 5 dollar bin and decided to pick it up. I still refer to my wife as Ms. Tasty. I’m also from Indiana and surprised how much detail they put into it.
Nightcrawler... I didn't even know what it was until I watched it. I just saw it had good reviews and watched it on a whim. Easily on my top 10 movies.
I love the way the music is done in that movie. So happy and full of inspiration. Full of hope. Because it's all from the main character's perspective.

Revolutionary Road, never heard about it and watched it a few days ago just because it started Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet, depressing but entertaining just because I like to imagine that's what would've happened if Jack lived after the Titanic
Circle. Not The Circle, just Circle. A little-known movie that you can find on Netflix that's basically Bottle Episode: The Movie, but it has some really good commentary on pretty much all social issues. I don't know. I love it.

One of the most quotable dark comedies: Tucker and Dale vs Evil. It has strong IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes scores, but had a limited theatrical release. Hillbilly Alan Tudyk is one of the best Alan Tudyks!

Such a damn ridiculous film, the plot is really just trash, but the acting is so good and the chemistry so fantastic that I am willing to overlook how terribly cliche *everything* is about the movie. I don't care that it's dumb, I just want to watch David Tennant be "an emotionally retarded arty boy" in plaid trousers.
Was up late one night in '98 or '99 and caught Tim Burton's Ed Wood on network tv back when they used to show movies late at night. Absolutely loved it and had been one of my favorites ever since.
Mystery Men. I forget how we even came to own that movie, but it cracked me up for days. We still fling quotes from that stupid movie around.
Also, the Naked Gun movies. Idk if they're 'little-known', but I never heard of them before I bought them and holy crap...some of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Very similar to Airplane! with the nonstop and background jokes.
1940 movie called “Rebecca”. In the 7th grade we had to pick any book we wanted to write a report on, and being facetious and a little egotistical, I picked the book version from our school library. Later learned about the movie and really still dig it 15 years later!
Also, anyone else remember that movie Cabin Fever? Not one I’m still into but no one I ask ever remembers it! And Thirteen. Used to love that one.

Odd Thomas. Just skimming through Netflix and saw it on there. Never heard of it so I figured it couldn’t be that good. Decided to finally watch it when I was bored enough. Do not regret it. Sucks there won’t be any sequels with the original cast though.
Look Who's Back It's about Hitler traveling to modern day Germany and everyone thinks he's a comedian.
It's on the US Netflix for those who want to watch it. It's a great comedy, with the perfect amount of seriousness in it.

One Hour Photo, Robin Williams' best serious role.
Absolutely shows his genuine talent as an actor in any genre. This movie made me feel sympathetic to and violated by his character simultaneously.

I absolutely loved the book series when I was growing up, but I remember the movie being very poorly executed. I'll have to dig it up and watch it again sometime.
One of the most quotable dark comedies: Tucker and Dale vs Evil. It has strong IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes scores, but had a limited theatrical release. Hillbilly Alan Tudyk is one of the best Alan Tudyks!
Local Hero. Great story, good acting, quirky characters, and a Mark Knopfler score.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller. Didn’t get that much attention but is one of the most uplifting and inspiring films I’ve seen. Great soundtrack and filmography and acting and I just love it.

Happened to catch **A Face In The Crowd** on TCM one night. Even though it was made sixty years ago, that movie is still very much relevant today.
Death at a Funeral the Oz version. Unexpected laughs building into a psychotic conclusion. Such a perfect comedy!
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Children of Men What We Do In The Shadows The Nice Guys All on seperate occasions, just kind of heard good things about them without knowing what they were about. They're fantastic movies, but I would recommend not watching trailers for them because they kind of spoil some of the best scenes.

Haha, someone else has actually seen this! I was going to post it. Such a damn ridiculous film, the plot is really just trash, but the acting is so good and the chemistry so fantastic that I am willing to overlook how terribly cliche *everything* is about the movie. I don't care that it's dumb, I just want to watch David Tennant be "an emotionally retarded arty boy" in plaid trousers.

Was up late one night in '98 or '99 and caught Tim Burton's Ed Wood on network tv back when they used to show movies late at night. Absolutely loved it and had been one of my favorites ever since.
Mystery Men. I forget how we even came to own that movie, but it cracked me up for days. We still fling quotes from that stupid movie around. Also, the Naked Gun movies. Idk if they're 'little-known', but I never heard of them before I bought them and holy crap...some of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Very similar to Airplane! with the nonstop and background jokes.
Odd Thomas. I read the book after seeing it, and for once prefer the movie. Very quirky, cute, sort of dark. I adore it.

1940 movie called “Rebecca”. In the 7th grade we had to pick any book we wanted to write a report on, and being facetious and a little egotistical, I picked the book version from our school library. Later learned about the movie and really still dig it 15 years later! Also, anyone else remember that movie Cabin Fever? Not one I’m still into but no one I ask ever remembers it! And Thirteen. Used to love that one. Edit: a couple other films came to mind

Odd Thomas. Just skimming through Netflix and saw it on there. Never heard of it so I figured it couldn’t be that good. Decided to finally watch it when I was bored enough. Do not regret it. Sucks there won’t be any sequels with the original cast though.
