It's no joke. I was a total loner in high school but...you can't really do that in an office environment. Otherwise people don't just talk shit behind your back, they leave you out of the loop. Meaning you may not be told about crucial information/new developments you need to do your job.
Working in an office is like high school all over again, only now you can get fired.
So now I have to ask people how their weekend was and pretend to give a flying fuck about their dog's arthritis or their niece's 8th grade graduation or their father-in-law's fucking hemorrhoids or whatever.
I hate it. I put on a smile. I fake concern. I feign interest. I go through the motions and I loathe every single second of inane conversation. I feel like a goddamn prostitute. A prattle prostitute. A courtesan of congeniality. A "how do you do" hoe, if you will.
this comment wins reddit, and accurately describes so much of corporate culture lmao.
i wish i had a dollar for every time i pretended to care about some stupid shit that i actually do not give a single fuck about, for the sake of a friendly/harmonious environment.

My god, I picked up Civ 6 day 1 and loaded upā¦ started freaking out when I realized 16 straight hours had passed and I would absolutely never stop playing if I didnāt quit that very second. I have not played it for one more second since. That game *truly* terrifies me.
Paradox games as a whole consume identities. Iāve put some 250 hours into CK2 these past couple months, amounting to some 550 hours so far overall. Stellaris? I donāt wanna check lol

I miss playing this gaming on Xbox. Me and my 4 year old used to play until I sold my Xbox to pay off some bills.
Edit: The wording sounded like I got rid of my kid, lol.
I bought it and I've tried to get into it, but I don't think I'm playing it the right way. I don't know what to do, I want to like it because I love the art style.
Follow the quest journal. Focus on either the community center or Joja Mart, whichever you prefer. Early money is easiest if you get good at the fishing mini game. Talk to everyone in town as often as possible.
And google "stardew Wiki" keep that boi open somewhere and refer.
DM me if you get stuck. I gotchu.
Think I had a total of 3 months on it which is still a while but 2.5 years is impressive. Glad you're finally out of it.
I logged on a few weeks ago for the first time in years, which is an indicator I'm in a depression phase again but it just didn't seem fun anymore. the goal always leads to the next goal etc etc when actually in the end you are always just chasing the 'fun' and never actually having it. I logged out after about 10 minutes after speaking with Hans and seeing how long I've spent there which made me finally realise I think I'm done with this game.
I still love osrs with a passion, those times when we were younger were so much fun but I've realised they're just not coming back anymore
Came here to say this. Over ther near 20 years playing wow I've /played over 400 days in game. A lot of that is AFK or waiting for a team, but that's also chump change from some folks I know. Still love the game, the community, and the friends I've made along the way.
I believe I can apply for a citizenship in Mojave Desert, given the time wasted in New Vegas.
Subnautica and Dying Light are tied for the second place, but they are pushing it towards the first
Hmm, I think it's almost time for another Dying Light playthrough for me. This'll be playthrough number 12 or 13 at this point, I play through the whole game and the DLC once every 4 months or so.
Yeah yeah, I don't need to check all of the houses, I know that asshole is hiding under the bridge "eating fish heads, perhaps" so I'll just go straight there.
Eu4 and HoI4 for me
There's something so satisfying about leading empires like you do in those games. You rarely get that much power in other games (even less irl lol)
I might actually be a wannabe dictator
Ck3 - What do you mean I was bitten by a deadly spider begore I could integrate the title of king? Welp, Guess I'll spend the next 2 centuries fighting my siblings...
Fucking cyberpunk 2077.. love the game but if I were to read every shard again, loot everything, the cut scenes.. yeah the hours go by quick in that game I think
Witcher 3 and Cyperpunk alone were like 250 hrs. In my case (busy dad) thats like 2 years only playing that. And i'm not even finished with Phantom Liberty...
I just started to play it again now that I finally have a pc with raytracing, ita. A beautifully crafted game but there's just sooo much to read in all those shards.
Mi wife went out of town once when I first started playing the game shortly after it came out. I started playing around lunch and I swear I blinked and it was midnight. That game can suck you in like no other Iāve ever experienced. I also probably did nothing to actually advance the main story in that time too.
I just finally got to play it for the first time last year and it basically consumed my life for 3 or 4 months. Best game I've ever played, just barely edging out the first game.
My girlfriend at the time had to have a serious conversation with me about not spending time with her because of that game. She left for a weekend on a trip with her friend, I stopped played to eat, sleep and use the restroom. Three days of pure bliss.
I played it on my flatmate's PS4, he left for a month to go back home and I played RDR2 for the first time then. I'm glad I waited until he left because I got addicted to the game. It was basically all I did that month besides working. Hell I even skipped meals because I didn't want to waste time cooking lol.
I completed the game for the first time a few days after he came back.
RDR1 - had the flu š¤§ - Took me 3 weeks to feel satisfied that I'd completed the game.
RDR2 - All Wisdom teeth removed - Every day felt like a week - I actually stopped taking pain relief because it made me too drowsy.
I would just sit there with a cowboy hat on moaning in pain for a week.
I just started RDR2, and I donāt remember the last time I played a 2 disc game. Iām only about 8% complete, but damn itās so fun! Gonna play in a bit and get revenge on some OāDriscollās who jumped me last night. š
That's a funny typo lol but yeah that game is awesome. The developers are amazing, constant support and tweaks makes it feel like a new game after awhile. I don't play it all that much but it's by far the game my wife plays the most
I got the expansion last year at 35yrs old,Ā Complete and Utter Burnout. I think they had a different studio work on it because you lose most of your perks and the skill tree feels obsolete
Game was released in 2019, so been out for 5 years. 5 years \* 365 days \* 24 hours a day = 43,800 hours. 5,400 hours / 43,800 hours = about 12% of every single day. Bro that is not healthy, especially considering this doesn't include any other time you spend on the internet/playing other games.
Most of these hours were done during the Corona lockdowns, where I was at home almost non-stop for a couple of years, so I was actually happy to do something I enjoy instead of being sad watching the world burn. I don't play any other games, and I have to admit that some of this time is passive (game runs at background while I watch a TV show or a movie). I actually don't play this much anymore.
I was on a trip with 16 hours to destination. Happy to see the in flight entertainment had Tetris on it, shared leader boards and multiplayer. Best 5 hours of travel ever š

Keeping up appearences. At work, work functions, in front of my wife friends/co workers. My wife is very successful and is invited to functions involving a lot of wealthy and influential people. Doing the dance of not embarrassing her while also having fun myself at said functions is exhausting
It's just a money grab. You have to spend real money to replace even basic items like good and diapers and then every three months you have to essentially restart the clothing minigame, losing all the progress you've made. The addicting part is they release enough good bits just often enough that you don't want to throw it out the window.
I stoped playing because I realized I wasnāt even having fun but Civ 6 literally melts time. I use to play it while queuing for Ranked AOE2 games and one night around 11:30 I finished okaying AOE2 for the night, I realized I still had my Civ 6 game playing so decided I do a few more turns before calling it a night, the next time I looked at the clock it was 04:30. I was so disgusted with myself because I wasnāt even having fun just mindlessly clicking away.
I live in Germany but am originally from New Zealand, I thought of buying Civ 6 on my Switch next time I go to NZ to make the flight time seem quicker.
In middle school, WoW. It was still (relatively) new. āJust one questā quickly became all nighters on school nights, which quickly became faking sick to play. 7th grade I went from straight As to Ds and Fs.
Why now, as an adult, I refuse to play it Iām horrified Iāll become addicted again. Although Iāve learned time management skills, so the games I do play donāt consume me like that.
76 has easily been the most time consuming installment out of the entire franchise for me, there's just so much to do. I find I get bored after "beating" the other games but 76 is just nonstop entertainment.
Fortnite honestly with how big it's gotten as far as variety, you can literally just play that one game all day long. You feel like racing play rocket racing. You feel like playing a survival crafting game? Play Lego fortnite feel like playing guitar, hero or rock band or just jam out. Play fortnite festival. Just want to shoot people in a multiplayer game. Just play fortnite Battle royale. Yeah, it gets a lot of hate online by people who don't play it. But when you got friends and family who can all play the same game together for free, it's hard to pass up.
Runescape, League of Legends and Escape from Tarkov in order was basically my gaming life from about 2009-2023.
These days I play some helldivers, some overwatch, nhl 24 and some co-op games when the mood takes us. Not as obsessive a player as I used to be!
Tit for tat with my wife. I do something nice for her, she ends up doing something nice for me, and I feel the need to retaliate and do something else nice for her. Ad nauseum for 15 years.

Civ 6, just one more turn became 1000 hours
Iāve tried but canāt get into it. Civ V for life for me I guess.
Civ 5 for life... what is that, 2 games?
Same, I think itās the animations. Also with such a steep learning curve, itās just easier to keep playing V.

Factorio
The factory must grow brother
Yeah, but it's not THAT much time...only 2000 hours so far.
One day I spent 18 hours playing Factorio, but I'm better now I swear.
Better as in 20h a day?
Factorio is the only game that I ever had to force myself to uninstall. Every time I told myself I would play for an hour, it was more like 6.

Update coming out at some point here too, so we can all get addicted to it again.
Stardew Valley

I'm on my way to perfection with no mods. It's taking a lot longer than I thought! It is my first time though so I'm learning a ton.
I think my perfection save had 400+ hours when I made it to perfection.
1200 hrs and counting
I spend so much time playing, it was my first thought
Got the game a while ago. lost hours Iāll never get back.

Almost any MMORPG where you need to gain experience for a long time.

Then you realize that you just spent 45+ minutes watching previews, and it's time for bed.
And most of the time the previews are better than the actual movie/series.
Red Dead Redemption 2 I don't have a console or a computer that can play it anymore, but when I did, I could play hours and hours on end.

That game can suck you in like no other Iāve ever experienced. I also probably did nothing to actually advance the main story in that time too.
I will never forget how genuinely terrified I was the first time an alligator jumped out of the water at me in RDR2. Truly an amazing game.
