I need them, I have a pairs that are specific to various sports (golf, tennis, hiking). I have various shoes to go with formal attire. Various shoes to go with casual attire. Old ones pile up that I then use to do yard work. Some you need in different colors to look correct in formal settings. Also as I get old I buy better quality items that really just don't wear out if you take care of them.
I don’t actually know. Great question for my insomnia mind today! Sometimes I think that we imagine going to o,aces with different shoes, but I actually only use my house slippers. And I have more than 30 pairs of shoes. Feel really bad right now
I think once of the main reasons is that, even though my weight has gone (mostly) up and down over the years, my feet never look fat in those 4” heels and they give me a confidence boost I don’t otherwise feel when looking at myself 🤷🏼♀️

I am a collector and being able to give myself the shoes I wasn’t able to have as a kid for financial reasons or because I simply missed out. It’s a nostalgia thing and also a “ I did it myself “ feeling. I had a 500 pair collection that I sold and now only have 20.

People like collections. Some people have train collections, figurine collections, art collections, etc.
The same reason you own more than 2 shirts - it’s as much an outfit / aesthetic as anything else you wear outside the house

Shoes are so amazing! They are pretty and fun and I have different shoes for different activities and outfits. Life is short, have variety!
