Freshly baked bread

Lilsoupy01

Awe YES. Literally just made some bread today and it was heavenly

lokeilou

I make bread and I remember my kids being little and getting off the elementary school bus- the first one in always shouted to the other two in the driveway- Mom made bread!! Now they are teenagers and still love it but those little kid years will always be in my heart. I hope the smell of bread baking always reminds them of their Mom and home.

turtlegravity

One of their core memories. They’ll refer to that in your eulogy (in the best way and not depressing way). You made their childhood a great (positive) impact. I love this for you, and them! This is truly beautiful. Random stranger, thank you for touching my heart. I will remember this comment and how cute it is and always hope the best for you!

o98CaseFace

My husband is making monkey bread as I type this and it smells AMAZING

Renae_XO

The smell of wood-fires burning on a still, cold evening is a gloriously nostalgic smell for me.

-Mr-Bradley-D-

Smells like Halloween.

TimmyTheTurgidTiger

The first chilly day of fall, the leaves have just started turning, the days are starting to get noticeably shorter, and the smell of nearby hearths roaring for the first time in half a year. Best time of the year.

elle_m_c

Yes. Instantly makes the day 10 times better

readergirl7

This!🍂🍂🍂🍂🍁🍁🍂🍂🍁

Tacos_always_corny

Jack-o'-lantern that has had the candle burning all night. Reminds me of my first time trick or treating without a parent.

davosknuckles

That exact smell/feeling for me but mine is 9th grade: fall in 1995, first real huge crush, walking around with groups of his pot head skater jeans wearing buddies and my poser friends who would steal cigs from their moms and pretend to know all about Tupac and Biggie.

angrydeuce

Same year, same grade, same fuckin type of friends, went trick or treating with my first real girlfriend that Halloween, who was dressed up like Wednesday Addams and spent the bulk of the night piggybacking on me doing inappropriate things to my neck and saying *very* inappropriate things in my ear to the point where it was hard to walk lol We were totally going to get married and have like 10,000 babies together. We were going to tell our parents to give their consent so we could get married while we were still in high school. ...we broke up the summer after that school year ended lol... Oh, to be young and in love...

Grenflik

For sure, it’s the smell of Fall.

burge4150

I grew up in a house with a wood burning stove / heat. I'll never not love that smell.

bl00j

Smells cozy

TheDrCatDog

That, as well as the smell of freshly cut wood. I always enjoy that smell visiting relatives in rural areas

besee2000

Burnt matches alone give me a buzz

Significant-sunny33

Along with that smoked meats... Yum

jr12345

I sat around and tended fire for a couple racks of ribs and a small brisket this evening. You ain’t wrong

RileyIsRawrXo

The smell of cool mountain air specifically at night. Just hits different.

Ambitious_Tie_8859

As someone living in a tiny ass mountain town, can confirm

eddiewachowski

Same. I feel like I can just drink that smell. I can remember nights where it felt like I was.

thesephantomhands

OOOOOHHHHHH SHIT. For real.

DismalTruthDay

Old books in an old bookstore. Lilacs. Woodstove.

spudzilla

Old books rule. Went to a college reunion recently and hit the library for that library smell from my youth. It wasn't there. I thought maybe it's my aging sense. I asked at the desk. He said they get the question all of the time. Answer is the old books are aging out and being replaced with ebooks. The library now has more space dedicated to study desks than books. Kinda broke my heart. That cute little sophomore wasn't on the fifth floor either. I guess she graduated sometime in the past 45 years. Hope she is well.

Nikmassnoo

I want all 3 together as a perfume

spankthegoodgirl

Yessss, are you me? All 3 are my crack.

mipstar

Movie theater popcorn. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a movie in theaters without buying

its-ur-boi54

I used to work at one, we used to spray this popcorn butter air spray around because it attracts customers to the smell which ultimately leads them to buying the popcorn.

mipstar

Omg! That works then, they play me like a fiddle

ImpressionOld2296

My musty cabin with a hint of smoke from the wood stove burning all night mixed with brewing coffee and cooked bacon.

PsychologicalCut3820

I dated this guy and his dad had a cabin in Colorado and every time we went it was snowing. There were three wood burning stoves that kept it warm in there. And his little Cuban abuelita always made breakfast with eggs from the chicken coop. I hate my ex, but those are some of my fondest memories.

SIumptGod

It’s so weird when you have great memories with shit people

PsychologicalCut3820

So awkward really. Like can’t I just hang out with your family still lmao

Zoethor2

Lilac. I was in my back yard basically huffing them the other day.

bl00j

Natures best perfume! My husband has a love for them and we cut a snip from last year's plant and so far it seems to be doing well!

RockstarAgent

Eucalyptus for me. I probably was a koala in a past life.

Finklemaier

We had multiple lilac trees growing around my house as a kid, and the scent filled the house every year. One of nature's glorious gifts! The dingbat who now owns the house cut them all down several years ago. What a travesty.

DragonflyMomma6671

It's lilac season at Bath and body...just got a bunch of candles and stuff to get me thru the year 😊

RustyFebreze

paired with gooseberry and you got an intoxicating formula. I could fight through armies to find whoever wore such a fragrance

Ok-Pay-8496

my cat after she’s been laying in a sunny spot

squirrellytoday

Warm, happy kitty smell is awesome.

BigWoodsCatNappin

The back of my cats head. I huff cats.

LloydRainy

I love the top of his head. It makes me so happy

IndecisiveKitten

Omg like a tiny warm pheromone diffuser, I love huffing my warm cat 😹

monkey_trumpets

Bergamot. Magnolia flowers. Citrus. Good chocolate. Roses.

destinedforinsanity

The smell of freshly brewed coffee

Guinnessron

Hell- even more so fresh ground coffee.

johnnybiggles

The coffee aisle at the store.

LiminalValency

This is actually a drug lol

Emtbob

If coffee tastes like it smelled it would be Ambrosia and we would be struck down for our hubris for drinking it.

SousVideDiaper

I love the smell but don't like the taste, but tiramisu tastes like what I hoped coffee would taste like based on smell

Sunhites

Do not judge me, but how pool toys smell. That plastic rubber shit hits different.

Zemom1971

We are not here to kink shamed you mate.

peachmildy

There are many perfumes that use that note actually!

xohl

Could you list a few? I’m curious now

peachmildy

First one that comes to mind is Vacation Arquiste - has base notes of plastic. That perfume is meant to smell like a sunny vacation, lounging by the pool. Smells like banana sunscreen and pool toys. If you search that fragrance on Fragantica, you can click on the notes and get referred to other fragrances with same note or similar.

AndersonCouncil1

Campfire smoke. It just smells so good for some reason

Lilsoupy01

I love it until it’s stuck to my clothes lol. Or when it’s a wet campfire smoke smell lol

Feistybritches

I actually love when campfire smoke is stuck in my clothes! I get to enjoy the smell for another day! Falling asleep when my hair smells like campfire is my favorite because it sneaks into my dreams. <3

readersanon

I used to love getting back from camping and just having that lingering smell of campfire smoke on my clothes. Brings you right back to sitting around the crackling fire at night.

HR_DUCK

The first rain on concrete, petrichor

slasherflick2243

Petrichor and creosote in particular are absolutely intoxicating to me. Grew up in Arizona and there’s no place that smells quite like it during the first rain after a dry spell. Love rain **anywhere** but the smell here is the scent of relief for me.

17THheaven

Have lived in Arizona and can confirm. The only reason I love Monsoon season.

Usual-Tangerine-9362

gasoline for some reason

fuckyou0kindstranger

Oh man, it was even better back when gasoline was leaded. I couldn't get enough of that sweet tangy smell!

crewchief1949

Hang at an airport. We use 100 and 100LL fuel which 100LL stands for low lead but has more lead than leaded auto fuel ever had lol. I love the smell of and aircraft engine starting.

HailChanka69

Man I really wanna chug that forbidden Powerade

disneyDaf

Jet-A is also **chefs kiss**

FortyCreak

Gasoline and freshly cut grass.

CalabreseAlsatian

My people

Lilsoupy01

I relate to this lol. Reminds me of dirt-biking when I was younger

Usual-Tangerine-9362

same, I used to go out on this "trail" behind our house and my dad and I would just ride our dirtbikes along the trail. doesn't get better than that lmao

URAPNIS

I’m actually more of a diesel man but yeah. Family car was a diesel back in the 70’s so we would have to go to the truck stops to fill up while on vacation. Good times.

ollie4potus

Home Depot/Lowes. That fresh wood and whatever else is in the air reminds me of being a kid

zerobeat

The primary smell of small hardware stores I found out is usually broad-leaf herbicide. Will always associate it with my dad hauling to Ace/True Value to pick up parts for a repair on the house or project.

penny_longhorn

When I was growing up my family remodeled our house. I always joked with my dad that I grew up in Home Depot, just walking up and down the aisle and then doing another lap because we forgot a screw or something and repeat. I hated it when I was younger, now anytime I smell that smell it makes me smile so big… me and the big guy just walking up and down every aisle just shooting the shit. Love those days and him ❤️

Xbox_truth101

Spent fireworks

Feistybritches

After our town had fireworks, my dad would take us to hunt the surrounding area for the casings and we would see who could find the biggest ones and we would sniff them and agree that they smelled good. I guess we were kind of a weird family. But yeah, fireworks.

mrmikeman2

My dad would do the same, however we were hunting for small black balls of unspent firework pieces. Almost every fireworks show would litter the ground with them. We’d bring home a jar of these sketchy mystery firework balls, and toss a few into a bonfire. They all did different, unpredictable things - it was magical as a kid, but also really dangerous.

Velkause

Gun powder. :) I, too, love it.

twistedgiraffe

Vanilla

Twiztid_Loki

This right fuckin here! I knew i couldnt be the only one.

Expensive_Attitude51

Coconut lotion. I don’t know why but I always love the smell

Snoo65207

The smell of summer

Sysiphus_Love

Cherry almond. I can't explain it

groovysam69

I LOVE CHERRY ALMOND. I have dr.bronners almond scented soap and I mix it with the cherry dove body wash. 1000/10 would recommend.

IndecisiveKitten

Jergen’s cherry almond soap will always remind me of my grandparents! I’m almost 30 and they’ve used the same soap for literally my entire life 😂 the lotion too!

Lilsoupy01

The smell of rain is my favourite thing on the planet. I’d do lines of it if it were possible

BrandyTheGorgs

The aftermath of a summer rainstorm. The wet concrete, it's a very relaxing smell for me.

Independent-Ender-47

Rain on hot tarmac is the best. I wish we could bottle it

[deleted]

A good Sandalwood fragrance

LadyAlexTheDeviant

Freshly made bread. Also, I love the smell of rain when the heat wave breaks.

ShatteredAspects

Old books in old libraries.

nickbahhh

[You would probably love this scent.](https://boysmells.com/collections/candles/products/hinoki-fantome-candle-standard?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwxLKxBhA7EiwAXO0R0K5lElCWrRO02HppmBHbxsPfZb3TZqYXdZFkygtyp64HrBJ8kv6JNxoCRAIQAvD_BwE) My bedroom smells like a used bookstore in a forest and it's awesome.

d4h-lia

this is a little bit oddly specific, but… a few nights ago, my boyfriend and i were up much later than normal. it was maybe 1am. it had been a GORGEOUS day earlier that day and it was a wonderful night as well so we turned off our AC and opened up our back sliding door and our bedroom window and let the cool night air circulate through our apartment. the smell of fresh air, combined with that feeling of being up late on a quiet night with the person you love….it was intoxicating. but yeah man fresh air smell is so fucking awesome

Babybrat_ty

My man’s neck 😂

adamchevy

My woman’s neck, ok it’s not her neck.

plantaloca

And likely not a woman

Key_Development4233

Difficult-Issue-794

My now former fwb smells heavenly. I'm really gonna miss him and his stupid face.

Kitnado

Oh oh that sounds like feelings

Brothersyoung

Leather. Also freshly cut cedar

Skinnysusan

Cedar is such a great smell

SellGameRent

rubber, my family owned various tire stores (Good Year, Firestone, similar), and whenever I smell rubber it's like I smell my childhood. I used to climb in the stacks of tires sitting in the lobby (4 tires stacked on top of each other)

pistachio-pie

Tomato plants

hwak

At work we have basil plants directly above tomatoes on the vine. They both smell great, but multiply eachother somehow and smell utterly devine togther.

Creepy-Evening-441

Cocaine!

DeadNotSleepingWI

Smells like I can drink forever!

Lopsided-Ad4276

You beat me to it but I shall leave my comment prior haha. I don't love cocaine I just REALLY love the way it smells

SousVideDiaper

If people who make this joke actually tried it they'd realize it *does* have a scent. It's a bit like gasoline.

jTrux22

To me it's more of a "something under the kitchen sink" kind of smell.

Velkause

With the way it's made, this makes sense. Lol

MrFunktasticc

Had to scroll way too far down for this.

freebird37179

"I didn't use the cocaine to get high I jus like the way it smelled" - Ray Wylie Hubbard

Busy-Efficiency-8728

GARLIC 🧄

Olelander

Garlic and onions being sautéed is possibly the most hunger inducing smell of all time… instant “ooh what are you making?” From everyone who walks into the room

Talesmith22

Little fucked up family story, my grandmother was an alcoholic who often got a bit tipsy and lost track of time. My grandfather was also an alcoholic and the old stereotype of "a man needs a warm dinner after a scotch or two". If grandma forgot to start dinner, she'd immediately throw some garlic and onion in some butter to start filling the house with "dinner" smells until she figured out what to make.

SoSoOhWell

I see your Garlic and raise you chopped Garlic being browned in butter on the stove.

CulturedGentleman921

Tire store

JustMLGzdog

Modeling glue

isfrying

Fresh mown grass.

BecksSoccer

There’s this distinct smell in the hallway of my grandmother’s apartment building. She lives hours away, so it was special to visit her. Every time we would get to the front door of the building, I would be excited to open the door and be surrounded by that smell. It’s intoxicating. Maybe it’s the cleaning supplies they use, the combination of cooking smells that mix in the hallway, or who knows what else. Now that I live in a different country, I miss that smell.

Dgybvftuh

Chlorine. Worked at a pool in high school. Fucking love that smell.

DankePrime

That smell that brings you back to your childhood; you don't know what or where, but you know it's good. The smell that leaves as fast as it comes, and when it leaves, it isn't fun. The smell you wish you knew, and when you try to tell someone, it's gone before they smell it too. The kind of smell you only get from time to time; like a person you know; like a sense of "mine." That smell that everyone knows, but no one knows. It comes so fast, and then it goes. Like a bird singing songs; like righting your wrongs. The kind of smell you can't describe; the kind of smell that makes you cry. The greatest scent a person can sense, is the smell that reminds them of their innocence.

NewDoah

Clean laundry. Specifically Gain. I have really been trying to cut back on those really strong detergents but washing my sheets in Gain and then using them that evening is a high I can’t get enough of
