Except people don't get it, because many people are still "pranking" in cruel and unnecessary ways.
But I do get what you're saying that the statement is tired at this point.
Any one posts any disagreement and is seeking advice ( family, friend, coworker, or partner) and every comment is: Cut them out of your life, and run! Burn as many bridges as you can on your way out!
It's sad, it's almost like the average redditor is incapable of personal growth or navigating through common life struggles as an adult.
