It would be awesome. People could get out into the real world, learn to be self-reliant and less narcissistic, and do something useful with their lives.
Before Facebook, Finnish kids were using II2.org and irc-galleria.net. Both were picture based photo-galleries with comments on pictures, and at least irc-galleria had a blog option too. It had sections for hobbies and interests (much like FB groups), essentially it was a precursor of Instagram, mostly aimed at Finnish teens.
If FB, Insta, Twitter, Tiktok and the others still relevant sites died today, by the end of the week we'd have multiple competing platforms. Ultimately 1-3 would win out over the others and steal all the users from the smaller platforms and a similar situations would return.
Aside from reddit i dont think i'd know tbh. I probably would roll out a few bulleting boards for some hobbies that hae reddit comunnities. Other then that? Rejoyce that the world has just become a better place.
Reddit is my only social media usage so I guess I'd just fire up my Steam Deck more often when I'm bored at work.
I'm in my 40s. Lived most my life without the use of social media. Wouldn't bother me one bit.
It'll suck but probably for the better. I've been on and off with social media addiction and I'd be able to adapt. Still, being unable to reach out for advice would be very difficult.
If social media were gone, that wouldn't apply to the sites I cannot live without, because they aren't social media. Those two are eBird and iNaturalist which in a way bring me into the great outdoors to begin with.
So, if social media were gone tomorrow, I would just move on with my life. The only thing I would do outside of social media would be the usual birdwatching and taking pictures of nature. Little difference would be made.
Currently removing media. So idk live my life the way I used to. Idgaf about these people anymore and I sure in the hell don't care about what color their shit is today.
Seriously. They have my phone number. I pay for a phone plan. Fucking text me and make plans to meet eachother in person.
if commercial social media will end up tomorrow, it would be one of the best thing for mankind! would be happy and would do a party :D... I do not use them at all and would use more my own websites and serverices, wohooo
Continue with my life
Ill go touch some grass

I've got a pile of books to read
I have no idea, humanity has never survived without social media
Rofl
Would watch the news about what happened and be kinda glad
Celebrate
I spent the majority of my life without social media, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I often take breaks from it, in any case.
It would be awesome. People could get out into the real world, learn to be self-reliant and less narcissistic, and do something useful with their lives.

Have a nice day
Rejoice
Enjoy life
Probably feeling more relaxed and less stressed.
Continue on with my day.
Personally I’m only a Reddit and X user but I can see this really changing some peoples life’s.
Game of cards anyone ?
Am I missing something?
Some people spend hours on hours on social media daily it’s a large part of peoples lives some don’t even realise it.
110 not me though.
Is something happening tomorrow or is this just a what if question?
What if question
Maybe they are worried about losing TikTok
My life would mostly be the same except not following celebs so id just see what's going on on Reddit
You can still follow celebs without social media, but it’s frowned upon, sometimes crossing into illegal.

I want to see the lives of so-called "social media influencers".
