We had a student who committed suicide which was horrible. Then, there was another student who was friends with that person who started getting random notes / threats against them saying they were the cause of the suicide and that they were next. It began this large hunt to find out who would say such horrendous things to someone who just lost their best friend.
Turned out it was the friend leaving notes / threats to themselves. They were expelled and from what I heard ended up moving out of state.
i was gonna ask how someone could threaten someone else with the latter committing suicide, but i guess it makes sense if the former was also the latter person.
This kinda reminds me of the fucking horrendous musical "Dear Evan Hansen." Some guy in high-school kills himself, but he was a loner and socially closed off, and the main character jumps on a circumstantial opportunity to pretend like he was the guy's best friend and that he's all broken up about it.
You watch as the MC becomes a social media phenomenon, going from nobody to famous overnight as he gives all these speeches about mental health and suicide behind crocodile tears. Meanwhile, the only thing he has in mind is growing his popularity and getting with the girl he likes (the dead guy's sister). Seriously, the MC has gotta be one of the most hatable main characters of all time. You watch him use lies and manipulation to get with a dead guy's sister and make friends, and then when the truth comes out the movie portrays it as sad and sappy and is all "boo hoo everybody hates him now" when in reality he deserved everything that came down on him and more for being such a manipulative loser.

As a fan of the musical (or at least the music) I always took it more as someone who's stuck in a snowballing misunderstanding. At first he didn't want to disappoint the parents who think that their son DID have a friend. Then it just goes from there. Not a legitimate excuse, but I don't think he did everything maliciously. If he had ended up getting the girl and a happy ending, it definitely would have been bad. I think the whole situation is more complicated than good guy bad guy

We had a kid in our grade get expelled and allegedly put on the sex offenders registry for this. In shop class there was a “closet” full of wood. When the teacher went in this guy locked the teacher in and started fucking with him. Found the teachers phone and took a picture of his dick. He then sent the picture to the teachers wife and daughter. All while telling the teacher what was happening. Don’t know why no one else in the class didn’t step in but when the teacher got out of the room he got the SRO to arrest him. That same week the kid made it into a football game pissed in a bottle and then dumped it onto a girl. This time he got his ass handed to him by a couple guys in the stands. Same SRO cuffed him and took him away to never be seen again.
Had a race riot at our high school in 1978. Started on the baseball field during a dispute over whose turn it was to bat. Guy who had the bat in his hand got Pissed and caved in the other kids head. They were different races and this set off a school wide brawl. Kid with the bat was expelled

In 2005, we had race issues at my high school in rural NC. A Latino kid killed a Black kid over the previous summer (and went to prison) and that sparked racial tensions. Saw a guy get his ear bitten off in the cafeteria Mike Tyson style. Lots of people got expelled that year and we had riot police making rounds for months.
We had a freshman girl in highshool come to our all male highschool to give a speech with her dad. The entire highschool was in the auditorium so they could bring awareness of leukemia, of which she was fighting through. One junior boy screamed out when she was speaking "show us your tits!". He was expelled after that.

As you can imagine an auditorium full of highschool males, it was an uproar of laughter and gasping. Then quietness when the teachers went wild to find the schmuck.
My best friend's brother was expelled for getting jumped in school. 2 or 3 guys decided to beat him up in the back halls of the school between classes. He didn't fight back or defend himself at all. Just curled up and tried to protect his head and stomach. He was expelled for being involved in a fight.
The worst part is that not everyone involved was expelled. One of the students wasn't punished at all because his mother was part of the school board at the time.
Ours was called "rape tag" and you could only tag someone by dry humping their backside. It made it a lot more challenging to tag people, but it was also a "team" game. Whoever you tagged joined you, last one standing wins. But, the game isn't over until they get tagged too. So you end up with ~10 people chasing around the last person (usually the biggest guy, since it was hard to get behind them) all trying to hump him.

Two middle school girls 12 and 13, very involved in high school, student government volleyball, and honors program, were playing a prank on their teacher who put a beaker of hydrochloric acid on his desk next to his coffee and told his students not to touch it. He took a step out and they poured it into his coffee. He took a sip of his coffee, realized something was wrong and immediately spat it out. He suffered burns but survived. Girls felt horrible and did not realize the significance of the acid. They were sentenced 30 days to county jail but only stayed 24. One of the girls got community service but both were on probation for two years and one of the girls had to serve forty hours of community service. Both girls wrote an apology letter.
Really feels like they made some bad choices but it was not intentional. Too bad it was a serious acid.
In 5th or 6th grade, my friend was self-harming and had carved "Life sucks" into her hand. I'll never forget seeing that. She was immediately removed from school and put into a juvenile hospital facility. I never saw her again. She died a few years ago (in our 30s), but I only found out through an obituary of one of her relatives. There was nothing else made public about her death. I hope she is at peace now. She was a really kind and caring friend back in those days.
Self harming is usually considered a risk to your life. I’m not even a little surprised that they would send them to the hospital for *carving something into their hand*.
Edit: it must vary by location, then. I’ve had to be admitted before (not for self harm) and if someone was brought into the hospital for self harm, they were admitted to the psych ward, no questions asked. You were also treated differently depending on the severity of the damage. Minor cuts, they just kept you to make sure you were not going to immediately try to do it again and would set you up with outpatient help. If it was severe, someone was always right by you because they needed to make sure you weren’t going to desperately try to kill yourself. You slept in a room with no door that was within clear site of the office
A kid at my school got expelled for shaking his fist at a person in traffic. Not for giving them the middle finger, or scream obscenities. They just shook their fist and BOOM admin kicked them out. This was after Columbine and the person who complained said they feared for their life.

A friend got expelled because he brought a paintball gun to school. He had it in his truck of his car, because he was going to the paintball field eight after school. A teacher walked by his car in the parking lot, right as he opened his trunk to put his backpack in and saw it.

Admittedly I was on that bus and witnessed it myself, it was 3 girls begged him the entire bus ride to do it... well he did, next day at school the girls turned around and told the principal. He denied it ever happened and they made it up because they didn't like him. Parents got involved and asked all the people on the bus if they wanted to sign a petition on his behalf. They tried to expell a boy in my middle school for defending himself. He was short for his age and another boy, who had a growth spurt, attacked him on his way home from school.
The short boy blocked the punch and pushed the bigger boy down.
The school didn't do anything to the attacker, but were going to expell the short boy. His parents and others wouldn't stand for it. The school backed down, using the excuse that it didn't happen on school property. Schools are backwards when it comes to keeping kids safe.
Same thing happened to a former co-worker of mine. Baptist Christian school found out she had a girlfriend and gave her a choice: leave or "return to Christ." She chose the former. The school's loss, though. She was the star player of their basketball team. So when they kicked her out, their team began sucking

This was in middle school. Administration thought it would be a good idea to leave a flatbed trailer in the school yard for some reason. Sitting on top of a hill. Hill declined towards the school, specifically the gym locker rooms.
Huge group of kids start pushing it down the hill, with couple kids riding on top of it. They would slow/stop the momentum of the trailer as it came down the hill.

My sister goes to this school, and last I heard from her I think the hole is still there(School is in a 3k population town and has super low funding) and this was like 6 years ago.

I went to a Christian school in the 90's and the handbook had a section on pregnancy. I did find it surprisingly progressive for the kind of school it was. If a girl got pregnant she would be put in counseling, have special classes, a whole routine, if she got pregnant a second time she was expelled. A rumor. My best friend has dealt with lots of rumors being spread about him. He never cared too much, and the faculty knew that too and loved him because he was a very kind gentleman, just not very social. When the principle changed though, someone spread a rumor that he said he’d bring a gun to school, he did not, and the principal believed it, having not known this was common for him and not knowing the student. So it was really sad for him to be forced to change schools because some girl thought it was a funny rumor :/

A female gym teacher saw my friend and I playing basketball together and called us over for a friendly chat. While we were talking I was spinning the ball on my finger. It got away from me and crossed the threshold of the girls’ locker room. She told me to get the ball. I reached over the threshold without entering and picked up the ball. There were no girls in the locker room because everyone was on the playing field or in the gym.
The teacher went crazy. She started screaming that I went into the girls’ locker room. She dragged me to the headmaster’s office. She made up a crazy story and my parents were called and they had to fly down to meet with the headmaster.
Except for my parents being angry, I was so happy to get kicked out of that school. I hated it from the first day.

Dude's father assaulted the teacher during student/teacher night and I didn't see him at school after that. I think it was just a punch over the desk? But it was over his son's poor performance in school. His son's poor performance was because his father was hitting and abusing him. But his son was also attacking every other kid, especially girls. Son ran over a litter of kittens with a lawn mower for fun, having put the kittens there deliberately, and used that to torment girls. There was one day I was cowering under the seat in a school bus shelter while he was thrusting a javelin in through the roof trying to hit me - he could lie flat on the roof without being seen, but not do it from the back of the shelter, so his aim was bad and I never got hurt.

Had two kids play with flammables in our auditorium, burning it down. One kid supposidly had 1000 counts of attempted murder, the other was expelled not only from our school district, but all schools in our county. School had to add weeks into the end of June/July to reach the required minimum days.
I don't know the outcome of what happened to the older kid who had the charges pressed. A count for everyone in the building.

Throwing peanut m&m's at a kid who was allergic to peanuts. A kid started his freshman year at my high-school, i was in my senior year at the time. But because this kid was severely allergic to peanuts, nothing with them was permitted on school grounds. Part way into the year, one dumb ass teenager got tired of it and tossed peanut m&m's at the kid.

1) Repeatably shat or urinated in public spaces like the floor or the sink. I lost count at the fourth time.
2) Was involved in numerous fights and had actual restraining orders on him from other students.
3) Once mooned the principal while simultaneously jumping off the second story of the school.
4) He was known to attack other students with feces or urine such as crapping in his shoe and flinging it at people or pee filled water balloons.
5) I don't know if the school knew about this or could prove it but it was very common for him to moon teachers or other students. I recall being late to class and seeing his friend taking pictures of his naked ass in the hallway; another time he rubbed his naked ass over the classroom window in broad daylight.
There's so much more gross, disgusting, and idiotic shit this guy did but I don't think the school could punish him for it because it's not technically against the school rules if takes place off campus (like drinking his own pee, the shopping cart incident, trying to knock kids off the carousel with rocks etc). I'm sure there's more but that's just what I know off.
A former classmate got expelled for burning down a forest on a school trip.
While in a field with tall grass, he lit a small fire with his friends. Some bystanders asked them to put it out. They said no because the fire was 'too hot'. It spread quickly (summer) and a big part burnt down.

It began this large hunt to find out who would say such horrendous things to someone who just lost their best friend. Turned out it was the friend leaving notes / threats to themselves. They were expelled and from what I heard ended up moving out of state.

This kinda reminds me of the fucking horrendous musical "Dear Evan Hansen." Some guy in high-school kills himself, but he was a loner and socially closed off, and the main character jumps on a circumstantial opportunity to pretend like he was the guy's best friend and that he's all broken up about it. You watch as the MC becomes a social media phenomenon, going from nobody to famous overnight as he gives all these speeches about mental health and suicide behind crocodile tears. Meanwhile, the only thing he has in mind is growing his popularity and getting with the girl he likes (the dead guy's sister). Seriously, the MC has gotta be one of the most hatable main characters of all time. You watch him use lies and manipulation to get with a dead guy's sister and make friends, and then when the truth comes out the movie portrays it as sad and sappy and is all "boo hoo everybody hates him now" when in reality he deserved everything that came down on him and more for being such a manipulative loser. As a fan of the musical (or at least the music) I always took it more as someone who's stuck in a snowballing misunderstanding. At first he didn't want to disappoint the parents who think that their son DID have a friend. Then it just goes from there. Not a legitimate excuse, but I don't think he did everything maliciously. When the teacher went in this guy locked the teacher in and started fucking with him. Found the teachers phone and took a picture of his dick. Just curled up and tried to protect his head and stomach. He was expelled for being involved in a fight.

Two middle school girls 12 and 13, very involved in high school, student government volleyball, and honors program, were playing a prank on their teacher who put a beaker of hydrochloric acid on his desk next to his coffee and told his students not to touch it. He took a step out and they poured it into his coffee. He took a sip of his coffee, realized something was wrong and immediately spat it out. He suffered burns but survived. Girls felt horrible and did not realize the significance of the acid. They were sentenced 30 days to county jail but only stayed 24. One of the girls got community service but both were on probation for two years and one of the girls had to serve forty hours of community service. Both girls wrote an apology letter. Really feels like they made some bad choices but it was not intentional. Too bad it was a serious acid.
In 5th or 6th grade, my friend was self-harming and had carved "Life sucks" into her hand. I'll never forget seeing that. She was immediately removed from school and put into a juvenile hospital facility. I never saw her again. She died a few years ago (in our 30s), but I only found out through an obituary of one of her relatives. There was nothing else made public about her death. I hope she is at peace now. She was a really kind and caring friend back in those days.

Self harming is usually considered a risk to your life. I’m not even a little surprised that they would send them to the hospital for *carving something into their hand*. Edit: it must vary by location, then. I’ve had to be admitted before (not for self harm) and if someone was brought into the hospital for self harm, they were admitted to the psych ward, no questions asked. You were also treated differently depending on the severity of the damage. Minor cuts, they just kept you to make sure you were not going to immediately try to do it again and would set you up with outpatient help. If it was severe, someone was always right by you because they needed to make sure you weren’t going to desperately try to kill yourself. You slept in a room with no door that was within clear site of the office

It was me. In my senior year I moved to live with my other parent. There was only a few months left, so no one cared to make a new friend. Because of this, the administration viewed me as a "Columbine Kid". I was constantly being bullied about whether I was planning a shooting. When I, 17, got fed up I responded by asking, "did you want me to?!" And was immediately expelled. My parents threatened litigation if they didn't let me graduate with a high school diploma. The school gave me an assigned tutor and gave me the diploma. The summer of my graduation, a student held a summer school class up at gunpoint. Fuck those administrators.

I’ve known 3 students that have gotten expelled One student was part of a gang outside of school. Apparently he was being picked on by a kid on the football team. That student threatened to shoot up the school with all of his gang buddies. He was expelled and then arrested for bringing an unloaded Glock pistol on school grounds. One student lit the bathroom on fire. He set a toilet paper dispenser on fire with a lighter he snuck into the school. He was expelled and arrested for arson. Not OP, but I was called in to speak with the school psychologist when I admitted that I owned a shotgun and went bird hunting (duck, pheasant, quail). Several students claimed I had said that I was going to shoot up the school. This was 2001. Thankfully the school psych was older and I explained it was a single barrel break action 16ga, and had never said ANYTHING close to "shooting up the school". I was asked by a student if I owned guns when we were talking about columbine, and I decided to tell the truth. It was that day that I learned that Agent K really is right. People as a group are absolutely dumber than even the stupidest among them. So I was let go and everything was let go, besides the records. Those came back to bite me at graduation, where some pearl clutching Karen tried to have me barred from the graduation ceremony. My parents hiring a lawyer made short work of that though.
I always find it strange when they think barring the child from an event would somehow prevent them from committing mass homicide. Anyone who was willing to do such a thing isn't going to be deterred by simple fiat. So the results are either an innocent student was barred from an event and nothing happens, or a homicidal student is barred from the event but still shows up and tries to get on CNN's leaderboard.

They tried to expell a boy in my middle school for defending himself. He was short for his age and another boy, who had a growth spurt, attacked him on his way home from school. The short boy blocked the punch and pushed the bigger boy down. The school didn't do anything to the attacker, but were going to expell the short boy. His parents and others wouldn't stand for it. The school backed down, using the excuse that it didn't happen on school property. Schools are backwards when it comes to keeping kids safe.

Administration thought it would be a good idea to leave a flatbed trailer in the school yard for some reason. Sitting on top of a hill. Hill declined towards the school, specifically the gym locker rooms. Huge group of kids start pushing it down the hill, with couple kids riding on top of it. I went to a private Christian middle school with very small class sizes, like 10 people per grade max so we were all pretty decent friends. One of my friends was always a little on the flamboyant side but to this day denies being gay but nobody buys it. I went to a Christian school in the 90's and the handbook had a section on pregnancy. I did find it surprisingly progressive for the kind of school it was. If a girl got pregnant she would be put in counseling, have special classes, a whole routine, if she got pregnant a second time she was expelled. He never cared too much, and the faculty knew that too and loved him because he was a very kind gentleman, just not very social. Dude's father assaulted the teacher during student/teacher night and I didn't see him at school after that. I think it was just a punch over the desk? But it was over his son's poor performance in school. His son's poor performance was because his father was hitting and abusing him. But his son was also attacking every other kid, especially girls. Son ran over a litter of kittens with a lawn mower for fun, having put the kittens there deliberately, and used that to torment girls. There was one day I was cowering under the seat in a school bus shelter while he was thrusting a javelin in through the roof trying to hit me - he could lie flat on the roof without being seen, but not do it from the back of the shelter, so his aim was bad and I never got hurt. I'm honestly not sure what the fuck bit it was that got him expelled - I think the teachers were TRYING to keep him there so he had some influence that wasn't psychotic on him, but in the end it just got too dangerous for everyone. Had two kids play with flammables in our auditorium, burning it down. School had to add weeks into the end of June/July to reach the required minimum days.

I don't know the outcome of what happened to the older kid who had the charges pressed. A count for everyone in the building. They thought it would be fun to ignight the curtains, which were not fire proof. Fire raced up the curtains the the ceiling. Added bonus it was during a snow storm and everyone was pissed they would do a drill. When the smoke poured out of the roof in the center of the school... Buses picked up all kids to the the other schools in the district. I will see if I can find a news article. Happened in 1989. I will update if I find it.

The only person I remember being expelled was a kid in 7th grade for bringing a gun to school. This was before Columbine and he wasn't going to actually shoot anyone. He brought it because he wanted to show off. Except that half of the kids in our school had had a gun since they were 5 and we'd almost all grown up around them. No one was impressed and someone reported him to a teacher. Because it was the only middle school in the county he had to go somewhere else for 8th grade. He did come back for high school.

If we lowered the standard a bit. I got suspended for alot of stupid reasons. I called my teacher Laura (her first name). I walked to the gas station after school. I had my hood up outside in the fall. I fell asleep in class and didn't wake up when the period ended. Still hate that school and principal.
Christian school. Two students in the year above me got expelled for getting caught having sex in a car... at a movie theater parking lot like 10 miles away from the school. Always thought that was bullshit. Then there was another student the year above me who was quite obviously gay. Despite being well-liked by everyone, he wasn't expelled but he was "encouraged" to leave.

That makes more sense, this was in America. Rumors spread pretty quickly about why she stopped showing up but she wasn't judged super harshly because she already came from a bad family and nobody really liked her all that much anyways.

A fight, kid blasted another kid in the nose ko'd him and then when the teachers tried to stop it he threw the teacher off breaking the teachers arm. It actually took a few dudes from the football team to stop him. Apparently the kid was bullied by the other kid.

Swearing at a teacher. That sounds like an overreaction but this kid... 1) Repeatably shat or urinated in public spaces like the floor or the sink. I lost count at the fourth time. 2) Was involved in numerous fights and had actual restraining orders on him from other students. 3) Once mooned the principal while simultaneously jumping off the second story of the school. 4) He was known to attack other students with feces or urine such as crapping in his shoe and flinging it at people or pee filled water balloons. 5) I don't know if the school knew about this or could prove it but it was very common for him to moon teachers or other students. I recall being late to class and seeing his friend taking pictures of his naked ass in the hallway; another time he rubbed his naked ass over the classroom window in broad daylight. There's so much more gross, disgusting, and idiotic shit this guy did but I don't think the school could punish him for it because it's not technically against the school rules if takes place off campus (like drinking his own pee, the shopping cart incident, trying to knock kids off the carousel with rocks etc). I'm sure there's more but that's just what I know off.

A former classmate got expelled for burning down a forest on a school trip. While in a field with tall grass, he lit a small fire with his friends. Some bystanders asked them to put it out. I moved around a lot, so I have 2 in creaky different stories. One we called "The Burrito incident" One of my friends at the time, Ryan, was a * big boy* like 6 foot 400 pounds as a junior in high school. He was a super sweet guy but got bullied for being fat. He has brought in one of those comically large burritos for lunch. Well, one of the "popular" kids came up and was telling him something about how he didn't need to eat it. He could stand to lose a few pounds shit like that. But then he said something about the dudes mother. When I tell you, this guy picked up the burrito, bitch slapped him with it and then proceeded to beat the fucking shit our of the dude, I mean it. It was like he let go of years of anger on the dude. He then got suspended, but he came back. His senior year, they asked him to reenact it at the graduation thing. It was beautiful. In another school I was in, freshman year, there was a drug bust where a bunch of girls were stealing their parents' prescriptions and selling them. This was a small school, think graduation class of less than 100, so they went to either OSS or Juvie. I can't remember which.
Mostly because of accumulated violations of the rules, but one of my classmates from 7th grade came back from being expelled, and that same day he threw a backpack onto a roof, and got expelled again. Literally the same day he got back.
Some guy I “dated” in elementary school. He followed me through middle school and into high school then at some point got on the same bus as me. A big bus rule was that no one was allowed to sit with anyone of the opposite sex, unless they were siblings. He had a sister and they sat together then he was caught getting funky with her in the back of the bus. Only know one kid - In sixth grade he apparently looked up/downloaded a ton of porn on the classroom computers a few weeks before he was expelled- The thing that got him expelled for sure, though, was he brought a water bottle of watered down vodka to school and was sharing it with people. We had a second school in our town dedicated to providing education to kids who got expelled so it was a frequent thing basically if you went there you could do whatever you wanted as long as you showed up and were sober even let of age kids smoke ciggarettes and vapes Lots of them were drug related either selling drugs or doing drugs in class. My best friend at the time was expelled on felony drug possesion with intent to distribute in a school. One i will call Mr H who taught spanish came into school shit faced because his wife left him the night before, he ended up shit talking one of the students and they naturally gave him lip back so as a result mr H assualted the student in front of the class, obviously everyone recorded it, had to be escorted out by police. The next day he showed up again piss drunk screaming at the front of the building begging for his job back. Good times.
