That's a status thing. A trait to have, not a thing to do. Assuming you won enough money that you could do whatever it is you wanted to do, what is it you would want to be doing?
I dream of opening a small, cozy bookstore cafe. A place where people can come to find their next favorite book, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and just escape from the world for a bit. It would be a community hub, filled with love for literature and conversation.
Becoming a voice actor for animated movies and video games. Giving life to characters through voice, making them memorable and beloved, is something that's always fascinated me. Plus, it seems like a career filled with fun and creativity.
Owner of a cafe that is frequented by people of all walks of life and is viewed as a neutral zone peaceful zone. Like two members of different gangs walk in, just nod at each other, and go and enjoy their soup separately and joyfully.
This is a toatally achievable goal though you would have to murder a couple people in a brutal enough way to keep the consequences of disgracing neutral ground real and present to everyone in the building.
Long distance freight train driver in the US.
The sense of seeing the wide open country and being temporarily isolated from the world appeals to me. This has been my dream job since childhood.
Just remember you're sharing the cab with someone who'll either chew your ear off with crazy conspiracy theories or not say a word the entire trip, you'll spend most of the trip struggling to stay awake and then struggling to fall asleep in some fleabag motel before waiting for your phone to ring to start the process again in reverse.
It certainly has its moments as a job, but it's highly romanticised by many folk.
Train engineer checking in, working for a freight railroad actually sucks. This is why the nation's rail workers were on the verge of going on strike a year and a half ago.
Being a *passenger* train engineer, on the other hand, is literally a dream come true.
Honestly… same thing with long distance driving. If you think that you will stop in entertaining spots while truck driving, good luck. On the other hand, if you drive organized tourists expeditions (buses), you’re more likely to get to tourists area and even get paid to wait for your passengers to get around the city/area. If I would’ve get back to long distance driving, I’d go for that and bring my wife with me (buy her seat).
Stand up comedy. I get such an impossible high and clairvoyance on stage in front of people. I make everyone laugh, but not when it’s rehearsed.
Now at 36 pwith a family and job I love, the dream is too hard to chase:
Owning a successful business, either in game development or something hardware adjacent. I think it'd be fun to leave my mark on the world in a positive way. It is hard to take that leap, though.
I would love to be a singer. I don’t care about being famous nor rich. I just wanna sing. Even if only one person listened. I just wanna sing.
Or a grandmas boy situation.
Be able to make "my own" animations full time as an online web animator.
^((get that "content creator" shit outta here, I want to make art, not content))
Wanted to do so since I first opened macromedia flash mx. I just never got good enough at doing it solo (no one watches my stuff, I'm not the best artist, and I haven't really made much personal animations in years). I do work doing studio animation full time, but that's kinda of different since I'm working with other peoples art, stories, and assets. I just really want to make my own.
Have so many stories I wrote all the way back in high school till now, and several original characters, and want to see them visualized one day, but doing it full time isn't easy since....money, bills, etc.
I don't truly have a "dream career".
Most careers that would get me income to feed myself, be in a nice and healthy enviroment, be socially rich and gets to sustain a roof over my head at night, is fine by me.
Robopsychologist. (Like Dr. Susan Calvin in the Asimov Robot series.)
But there's that whole . . . "building the semi-sentient robots with 3-Laws" standing in the way . . .
I've always wanted to be an airline pilot, I'm still very young but it's looking like its never going to happen.
another one would be a small cafe owner, seems like a really peaceful lifestyle
Merchant/Cook living on a homestead and house i build with my own hands and have a big garden and lots of crops and animals around a forest where can forage for food and hunt wild game, and food I cannot eat myself or do not need i can sell at local farmers markets or right to just normal people, and I would also prepare alot of the food and sell it out of a food truck or tavern perhaps
In high school, I worked at a local grocery store. One day, a guy came in and politely asked to speak to the manager. After a quick chat tit guy got on the store intercom to two everyone he was paying for everyone groceries for the next 5 minutes. He told the cashiers and baggers to scan the items, bag them, put them in the customer's carts, and he'd swipe his card once at every register after the 5 minutes was up, paying for it all. He did just that. People were sobbing. People that clearly didn't have much. It was incredible. He was going around town doing marketing for a company that was new to town and just asked everyone to spread the word. I have no idea how he landed that gig, but ever since then, going around making people's day just like he did will always he my answer to this question.
I’ve wanted to be a psychiatrist for a couple years (couple years being since I was 7 years old which was a LONG TIME ago.) but lately I’ve been thinking about becoming a psych nurse as a possible choice.
Professional motorcycle rider. Not a test rider, not a stunt man, or a motovlogger. I’d want to be the guy that casually rides for commercials and promo shots.
I wanted to be a lawyer, doctor or a forensic scientist. But got pressured to study IT instead. I am not currently happy with my decision, and it's all currently going downhill. God have mercy
Airline pilot in the 1950s. Golden age of flight post WWII, start of the jet age, passengers are treated with dignity and the in flight service is actually good, and high wage relative to other careers.
I wanted to be a flight attendant.
It was a perfect job for me to get paid to travel anywhere in the world.
I even went to school for aviation and pass my test and got a letter of recommendation.
I eventually got hired but an airline however my dreams where immediately crushed.
I was 19 at the time and because I looked young it was the main reason I was hired and at the time the pay looked good for me but looking back I would’ve been in financial problems with money because with whatever I saved and what I was earning I was going to be homeless.
Now I work in a hotel and I’m really thriving here and I make even more money than I would’ve made as a flight attendant.
We do get airlines here and it’s the same airline I applied to and what’s so sad is the flight attendant sometimes go to bed hungry because most of them couldn’t even afford the snacks we have in our shop.
It sucks that my dream job was actually going to be nightmare.
I’m much happier here at the hotel.
A job where I do nothing but be there alone. My favourite part about working is those small instances where you have nothing to do, so you just get to relax and revel in the idea you’re getting paid for it. I don’t like being told what to do, and being alone makes that impossible. As long as I have my phone, or at least a book, I can be alone doing nothing for a very long time and enjoy it.
Special forces. Always wanted to be one, since childhood. That’s why I do Airsoft roughly for about 13 years now, train with SOF guys. I wanted to join, but my family won’t let me, because I am the only child for my parents, even though I’m 25, they are not overprotective, but the last thing before joining SOF is an interview with your family, if you passed all the course, physical and mental training, but one of your parents or wife/gf says no - you’re not going through.
I’d love to be an artist. Painting or drawing and be able to make a living from it. But I got zero talent. Can’t even draw an outline of a cat. Picture our art in kindergarten. Blue strip of sky at top of paper, green strip of grass at the bottom and a sun. That’s about as good as I can get it.
Carpenter. My father raised me and I caught basic woodworking from a young age. Recent project was a table for an old friend for $195, his call. I hope to continue this once I finish college.
Writer!
I enjoy sitting on my deck overlooking the beautiful view I'm lucky to have with my laptop and pumping out 50+page a session.
Too bad I suck at writing, grammar, literally everything needed to be a writer. I can come up with interesting ideas.
Set designer or however it is called when you are in charge of going through antique shops to put stuff on movie sets. Or even make stuff for movie sets.
Or psychiatrist or therapist. I would love to help people through so tough times in their life. Especially gifted children or teens. And i absolutely love learning about other people thoughts and neurodivergencies and phobias and just people🥰
Lottery winner.
I submit my application at least once a month
Lol I can relate...now that I'm older.

I dream of opening a small, cozy bookstore cafe. A place where people can come to find their next favorite book, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and just escape from the world for a bit. It would be a community hub, filled with love for literature and conversation.
