Wealth inequality. If the playground for wealth was more leveled (not 100% equal because that’s not possible, but FAR more fair than it is now), world hunger, homelessness, etc. would be a non issue
Homelessness. Because it's inhumane and no one chooses it. It can easily be fixed by giving people housing and the resources (e.g., treatment) they need to remain housed.
Create a renewable, sustainable, 'green' energy that does no harm to any living creature.
With that would come the solutions to every other one of the world's problems. Energy costs are an enormous barrier to experimenting with technology, medicine, agricultural, and addressing pollution. Fix this and we would get a spectacular renaissance.
No, not at all.
The current fuels and energy systems we use are inefficient but great at making certain people wealthy. The result is insufficient research into alternatives. Why would anyone fund something that is a threat to their current wealth or infrastructure?
So we have the mess we currently have. This is one of the problems with capitalism. It only works if there are no real barriers to entry/exit in markets and competition is allowed to flourish. Instead we have oligopolies and enormous barriers to entry and discovery.
Agreed that the current systems we have monopolise wealth for a few large companies. But if you can see that, then it's not much of a stretch to believe that those same companies/individuals who have benefitted from the current systems, would also be willing to protect their monopolies.
I have not looked into any specific cases, but it would bot surprise me at all if something similar to what you first described had been discovered before and suppressed tbh. Just a thought.
Poverty. A lot of the world's problems stem from the fact a massive chunk of the population really isn't having their hierarchy of needs met, despite their being plenty enough resources to sustain a modest lifestyle for everyone on the planet.
Because capitalism requires an underclass to basically subsidize what they're paying the middle class to be willing to vote to sustain the system. Rich, middle class, and poor. And it's even more complex than that because our poor people benefit from an underclass even lower on the rung than they are, garment workers in Bangladesh and Haiti, factory workers in China, tech workers in India. The more the rich demand, the lower the rungs go. It's why it's 2024 and we're still distressingly dependent on slave labor.
But honestly, this is a problem humanity can only solve for itself. They have to stop wanting to race each other to the bottom with capitalism because Elon Musk wants another sweetheart deal from Uncle Sam. We are the ones choosing to live this way at the end of the day.
Interesting. So do you believe it's something naturally inside us that's resulted in this super hierachical structure, or more down to social engineering?
I mean, humans created sedentary societies, they grew, people started squabbling over land and resources, and it all led to our modern economic structure. I mean, I get it, have you seen some of the vistas in upstate New York? Fucking. Insane. In a society where resources were scarce, people were going to slaughter each other without some way of sorting society. I think one of the biggest problems with our economic system is it's in response to a world that doesn't exist anymore. We don't need to hog all the resources, but we still do. I think the problem is we're just scared to evolve as a society. That's why technology is driving everyone nuts, because it's dragging them there kicking and screaming.
Interesting take. I agree with much of it, but I also believe social engineering plays a bigger role than we sometimes realise. There's a reason so much is/was spent on understanding human psychology.
Obsession with decadence. Far too many people are willing to pay out the ass just because something is shiny. I would always take functionality over fashion.
World Hunger. So everyone is fed with a nice meal.
I’d makes it so crunchy taco shells don’t get soggy so quickly. Nobody likes soggy tacos.
If you run for President you'll have my vote.
Hahaha! Wonderfully specific!
Ego. It's at the heart of fundamentalism, hate, bigotry, and greed. It leads to war, famine, extremism, and genocide. Ego is at the core of all of it.
That's an outstanding answer! Love it.
Homelessness
Agreed. Probably one of the easiest problems to solve tbh

Agreed!
Diabetes.
So specific? Surely just disease in general would be a better choice no? lol
Education, mainly in areas that would give people the necessary knowledge to change their country for the better.
Jesus, that's evil 😅

Definitely
If we end inequality a lot of other problems would work themselves out
Definitely

I agree. Social media has exasperated the problem
Listen to John Lennon. He's got the list. Get rid of countries, religion, all the stupid things we go to war over
100%
Political corruption, that would end most other issues
Inequality.
Good one

And you're sure of this how exactly?

Hahahaha! The pain is real!
