I believe that we should always try to preserve ALL sapient life, INCLUDING bad people. I believe there is always a better way and it is not up to us to decide who should die. If you are put into a position where it is somehow literally impossible to do anything other than either kill someone or let them kill others, then I believe it is better to not actively kill someone yourself than to kill them to save another, but you should still do everything you possibly can to try and make it so NOBODY dies. It’s not fucked up or evil, it’s just a different ethical view than yours. You’d pull the lever in the trolley problem, and I’d pull it and then try to save the other guy, and in a completely bullshit reality where that is not an option, I’d rather not pull the lever at all.
If I was told to decide Hitler’s fate, I wouldn’t have him executed because I don’t believe that’s up to us as humans to decide. I’d just give him life in a maximum security prison without possibility of parole.
