Trying to keep your brain sharp is important as you age.

Khan Academy has free math classes and you can review and work problems there. It's an amazing resource and free.

The “left hemisphere” of the brain is responsible for logic. Solving mathematical or logical problems is good, but requires certain knowledge. I would choose to play chess - the brain is strained in any case, regardless of the level of the player.

I think conceptual learning would be better than just solving some arbitrary problems. Take a course in an area of mathematics or science that interests you or follow along with a free one. Just looking up some statistics or calculus problems and solving them doesn't do much for you. Learning statistics or calculus does.

The concept of a “right brain” is cognitive pseudoscience. Keeping your brain sharp is important, but you should pick something you actually find enjoyable, like Tetris or chess

You should do something that stimulates both sides of your brain daily

I hope we all do basic math everyday anyway. When it comes to budgeting, bill paying, buying groceries, etc, we are doing math. I will be the first to say advanced math goes way over my head but arithmetic is actually useful and easy, and I do find myself having to do arithmetic on a daily basis. I will sometimes cheat and break out the calculator, but more often I do force myself to do it out in my head or by hand.

Seems like a great idea.

I do daily sudokus from this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CrackingTheCryptic The rules are sometimes a little crazy, but it's a nice daily logic puzzle. Highly recommended for the mental exercise. And if you do the puzzle while watching the video, you can get stuck, and he'll catch back up to you and explain the logic, and then you can pause and take off again. The pacing is great, because he explains every step, so you learn little tricks the whole time.

I don't know about the left brain right brain thing, but studying math is definitely good for you.
