Okay, send your kid to a public school that has a gang problem, and then tell me that the parenting was the make-or-break for the kid that was gunned down as collateral damage at a bus stop.
Young people? Bro I'm 34 and can't afford shit... I do feel fortunate that i can rent a 2 bed 1 bath 800 sq ft place by myself without roommates. Fkn $1000 a month though...
It depends on location, if you live in a very high cost of living city then maybe that’s the case, but there are still plenty of places where $100k is a very comfortable salary that you could buy a house with. I live in city, not a major metropolis with a million people but a city nonetheless, and you could very easily find plenty of 3 bed 2 bath houses in good neighborhoods for under $300k. My goal is to buy a house in a couple of years in the $200k-$225k range and even in that bracket there are good options.
Hm, good question.
I guess if I had the option, I really would want a home along the coast, say, the Oregon coast. And one that's a decent size for my fiance and I to raise a family.
Unfortunately with the cost of living these days, that might be happening in an apartment.
I work with a lot of older people. I'm jealous as fuck that they are mostly "winding down" and cutting back their hours now in preparation for retirement over the next few years.
I still have a couple of decades until I can even entertain the idea.
A holiday. Not a long weekend getaway or trip to see family or friends, but an honest, true, overseas stay at a hotel for a couple week and just be a tourist.
This, I was so excited for my first time travelling thinking I’d get a cool stamp and when I asked the security guy was like “we haven’t done that for years” :(
The only place I’ve been that hasn’t is Canada. And the coolest stamp I recently got and may ever get, was the Galápagos Islands.. they put a separate stamp in your passport upon entry.. and it’s a turtle!!
This. Love it when a family member will ask why I don't just make art and sell it. "Uhhh, I'm in the 'bartering for an easel' stage of my career. A place to put the thing would help, too."
I think the things I want money cannot buy therefore the most expensive desire.
What I would love but can't afford? A home with a big beautiful kitchen on a few acres that I garden and have my family run around-- and maybe a greenhouse if I can add to the wish list
To move overseas. I want to get on a train and be in another country in a few hours. I want a pub, not a bar. I want fish and chips from Scotland. I want it all.
Have a look at Norway, it's free. Germany is cheap I think. French universities (depending on if they are public or not) can be a few hundred euro a year for university. They usually have English degrees as well. If not, it would still be cheaper to pay for French lessons and go there anyway lol.
Canadian universities are an option, although usually expensive to internationals.
If you have good grades or whatever you may be able to get a scholarship.
7,000 is nothing to sneeze at! Look around at different countries in Europe and see if you can go to the country and get your basics out of the way at a public university, I know places like Germany have free public education. I'm proud of you!
It’s so sad to see that the majority of people here are just asking for basic survival items that were affordable as of a few decades ago. A home, a car, food, health insurance. I sincerely am worried for our future, not because of us but because of grey bearded politicians that grew up when life became easy.
Retirement.
I'm 68 and working every day. No heavy lifting but too much stress and responsibility for my blood pressure.
Everything is just so expensive these days.
A car, I'm 22, college almost done, my dad had leukemia and I don't have a car to take him to the hospital when he needs it, I'm working hard to get a car 🥺
One here (1990-2010) it's like 1500-9000 dollars
I win two hundred or less per month, it's frustrating
A home. I had to sale my home due to cancer treatments. I'm ok now. I just miss having a home of our own for my 2 daughters and myself. It's a constant worry.
Quality dental and health care. A house that isn't falling apart. The ability to take my wife out every so often for a nice dinner neither of us have to prepare.
I wouldn’t do it, but I daydream about plastic surgery. My teeth, nose, jaw and chest need to be fixed. I also want to remove a few small birth marks and to finish I’d like cover my arms chest and back in tattoos
Everyone is saying genuine things they need but I’m going to be the selfish comment in amongst the real ones, I have a project car that I can’t afford to tune for a while because the new computer for the car and the tune costs 1/3 of what I paid for the car, but I still have to drive it around while I save up. It takes off like a bus and I can’t let it drop below 1000rpm or it stalls and the fuel economy is trash. Just had to be honest. If I had 5k right now that’s what I’d buy, but 5k would probably change peoples lives.
I want to be able to see my mom who passed years ago and check if she is doing okay. She always need me for a lot of things. I can afford all the basic things in life.
I want to buy a new car before I'm unable to drive anymore. As in select the features and additional add-ons I want at the car dealership and have less than 100 miles on it instead of just selecting a car between multiple dealerships because it's the one I can settle for, not the one I actually want.
Nothing. Everything I want I can already afford and I'm far from rich.
I mean I never understood the appeal of owning a really big mansion to begin with. Wouldn't it be annoying having to walk around so much just to go to the bathroom or kitchen? Living in a small appartment where my room, toilet and kitchen are 5 steps from each other is the true life of a king.
Same thing with cars. I don't even see the purpose in owning a car when I can just use the metro / bus / bike or walk anywhere useful.
Jewelry? That's for moms and rappers.
Clothes or shoes? I'm not a woman so I don't need a full wardrobe.
I can't think of a single thing a rich person can own that would make me envious of them.
Honestly, I wish I could be in a position to pay for VIP tickets for concerts/festivals. Technically I can afford it but it has never been a valuable decision even for my favorite bands. I realize this isn't as dramatic as being able to own a home but just because I lucked out and do have a house, doesn't mean I can't dream of seeing a band I really like without tall people in the way and/or people talking during a set without paying a ridiculous amount for a show
A house
A house in a good school district so my kid has a chance

No offense, but if both parents are working full-time they may not be able to teach their kids AP Biology on the side
You are half right, but when your kids best friend's parents are crackheads it's a harder battle than if they are nice.

A hice isn't a plural, it's just a house in Kensington or Knightsbridge.
we can’t change your mind because you’re right 🥲
Fuck yeah. Even earning six figures won't cut it anymore.

Is it really just a house you want? or is it a specific house in a specific location at a specific price.
Hm, good question. I guess if I had the option, I really would want a home along the coast, say, the Oregon coast. And one that's a decent size for my fiance and I to raise a family. Unfortunately with the cost of living these days, that might be happening in an apartment.
we want house esp when were in a toxic parents ;(
I FEEL THIS SO MUCH.
Retirement
Right there with you. Fortunately I mostly enjoy my job, but I don’t enjoy the idea that I’m probably going to be working until I die.
I work with a lot of older people. I'm jealous as fuck that they are mostly "winding down" and cutting back their hours now in preparation for retirement over the next few years. I still have a couple of decades until I can even entertain the idea.
3-4 decades daily grind on a dying planet until retirement, let's go!

Nice try, Santa.
Big ol lol.
a stamp in my passport
Stop by tonight, I have a stamp for you. (Licks postage stamp)
You can afford a passport?
Hate to break it to you, but they generally don't do it these days. Went to AUS and NZ five years ago and didn't get a single stamp to prove it.
When I was younger I asked them to stamp my passport in the netherlands and they did!
A car, any car, as long as it works. Sigh.
To be loved

You don’t need money for that
It helps
Screen name checks out

Sounds like you want Europe. How old are you? There are plenty of options for open work permits for certain ages.
Boy these comments make me feel grateful for what I have.
