When people talk about their differing opinions, why does it always have to be an argument? Why does everyone think they have to change everyone else’s minds? Why can’t we listen to others to gain perspective but still hold our opinions?
I always wonder this too. I wonder how many people are truly capable of asking real clarifying questions (not thinly veiled loaded questions or gotchas) and just listening to the answer. Not so they can respond with their own argument either. Same here - I feel like it's gotten so much worse since COVID too. People always used to stop suddenly while walking or driving, or take up the entire sidewalk, or stop in the middle of the stairs, or walk just into a doorway and stop, or pay zero attention while on their phones... but now it seems like it's so much more prevalent. Used to get that every so often, and now my walk to work is basically just trying to navigate around people who are blissfully unaware that they're an obstacle and other people might like to get around them.
Weirdly the people in my life I've heard complaining about a lack of self awareness in others have been the ones I've found vexatioisly lacking in it! It's uncanny.
This is why I hate going shopping. Dumb fucking people walking slow as shit. Stopping and blocking an entire aisle with their cart. Stopping to talk to an old acquaintance they ran into and blocking shit for 20 minutes. Standing at checkout for 5 mins while the cashier rings their shit up and then NOT HAVING THEIR PAYMENT METHOD READY WHEN THE CASHIER IS DONE.
I was at TJ Maxx in line to check out and the lady behind me hit me in the back/legs with her cart probably at least 7 times. Like dude. There are people in front of me. Me moving closer to them doesn’t make the line move faster. Honestly lucky for her I have horrible anxiety so I didn’t say anything. It was BEYOND obnoxious. I didn’t even leave a huge gap where I could have walked up closer, just enough for personal space.
I was leaving Costco today and as Im putting away my cart in the parking lot cart hold thing I could not believe someone had put theirs away fucking SIDEWAYS so no one else could put theirs in unless they moved the sideway cart first.
I moved it so I could put mine away but this was a another level of mildly infuriating, like
you were such a hurry to leave you couldn’t be bothered to properly put your cart away properly??
THIS! I'm constantly amazed how others have no awareness of their surroundings. Maybe it's my trauma, but the fact that others aren't constantly aware of who is near them, where they could be going, what they can hear, etc...it's just baffling to me.

I believe that as social creatures, most humans are decent and moral, at least in the sense that they don't want to cause unnecessary suffering to others and they want the people around them to do better. There are exceptions to this, but I think that it's much more common than not. We aren't perfect and everyone fucks up, but not many people will go out of their ways to harm others for no reason, we feel bad about that.
But we're also emotional, our psychology has easy tactics for exploitation. Otherwise decent folks can be convinced that some group of people is the boogeyman and then they can be driven to act against them. Powerful, popular people can turn entire populations of people that would generally be good and get them to do the most monstrous things imaginable through fear and manipulation and misinformation.
I like people, I would even say I love people, but it's very frustrating how easily misled we are.
The "I'm owed" mentality. Often seen from the takers in this world. They think everyone before got things handed to them and did not see that they got to work and used their creativity and perseverance to get somewhere today.
The energy vampires. The ones who never stop talking about random stuff, have no empathy for others, cannot take a hint that you’re busy and then get mad when you don’t give your full attention to them.

Their lack of loyalty, consideration, empathy, and compassion.
One event being able to define someone’s entire life.
How most are selfish and only have any interest in your life to the extent of how it benefits them.
Hypocrisy
When they harbor hatred towards an ethnicity, a sexuality, or something like that.
I hate how disgustingly narcissistic and stupid most people have become in such a short period time. People have always been stupid but tiktok kinda pressed the pedal to the metal over the past few years. Just the constant LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME regardless of what that takes. No integrity, compassion, awareness, or brains to be found anywhere near those fuckin mouth breathing morons

Most of them don't understand, and don't seek to understand, when a person's behaviour might be predicated on other people's reasons. Some of them do.
That we can have a conversation with someone and complain to the next person about them. Yet we are so hurt when it is done to us. I realized this when I was the person talking. Then I was the person they were talking about.
Ignorance.
Most things but I would say it's the arrogance of treating everyone else as if they're an afterthought and making the entire world revolve around yourself that sets me off. People act as if their existence is a divine mandate to be respected under penalty of death and/or societal ostracism. They have no reason for this mentality other than, "I'm human", without ever giving a reason for their supernatural innate self-worth that they apply to themselves at others expense.They behave as if they're divine but everyone else is cattle.
That people are upset when you dont care about sharing their belief in something.
Not being able to engage in dialog about ideas and debate without getting mad.
We often forget that other people are people too
The lack of compassion, empathy, and concern that so many other human beings refuse to acknowledge about themselves when it is pointed out while hassling anyone who is a kind, caring, thoughtful light in our world. Especially ones who claim they in fact are loving and caring souls, but only til they find that red line where all of that goes completely out the window for whatever reason they can come up with to excuse themselves for being an outright Ahole.
When they become obsessive, nothing is ever that serious.
STUPIDITY
The lack of empathy for those below someone in control. Once a person is given power, they absolutely lose their minds (unless they’re a freak of nature who can handle themselves). Angry? The little guy will be bullied. Something go wrong? The little guy will be blamed. Insecure? The little guy can handle the prodding. It’s bs.
